Many Democrats are quite aware of the Republican playbook. They're just not morally debase enough to use it. Yeah, fighting like a Republican a Democrat might win an election, but they'd loose the war. Conservatism is essentially about the status quo. To keep the status quo one must fight tooth and nail, because the natural order of things is change. Liberalism is about change, and naturally one has to sell ideas for change to occur. It's very easy to block a bill by inventing some lie about what it will or won't do. It's much harder to pass a bill doing the same. I plan to watch this movie in any case.

Every campaign since the Daisy ad has had a Democrat surrogate suggesting that electing the Republican would mean nuclear war. Every fours years old people are told that their social security will be taken away. The draft is coming back. etc. Republicans use fear yes but Democrats do just as much. Dont fool yourself.

Should not live in glass houses, yadda yadda yadda...
I'm a democrat, and I think much of what the likes of Rove and this douchebag have done are dispicable. But I have read countless reports of Dems using nearly the same tactics, so I think its a spurious road to go down by claiming innocence from all crimes of political manipulation.
I also think it is imperatively simplistic and naive to assume that all Dems practice honesty and above board tactics when campaigning, while all Repubs use evil draconian attacks to get their points across. Living in CA I can tell you that there are more than quite a few nasty campaigns going on that are doing this on both sides. Not to mention its hard to distinguish the candidate's campaign from the disinformation that comes through (on either side) from blogs, talk radio, and internet flamer sites. Just sayin'.

I'm so sick of this already. We've got stupid republicans claiming to be assaulted by Obama supporters,we've got moron democrats hanging images of Sara Palin in there yard and comparing McCain to a Nazi, when is this shit going to be over. Neither canidate has clean hands and some where along the way both party has produced cult like maniacs that are running rampant. Scary shit people. I just hope to God we get a new President before one of these left wing/right wing idiots kills someone. Seriously.

That'd be cool if they got Rove, Atwater, the soldiers from Guantanamo Bay, and W altogether in one movie. Summer 2010.

As evinced by the zilch volume of talkbaks. If you wanna see the Bill Clinton story, check-out FACE IN THE CROWD (about an egocentric hayseed who turns into a powerful media manipulator...and then loses it); this film telegraphed the Clinton legacy (Andy Griffith--!!!--channels into Clinton sleaze/corruption; absolutely one of the most compelling performances of the past century).
