NBC ANNOUNCES PRIMETIME SCHEDULE CHANGES: ‘LAW & ORDER’ PREMIERES WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 5, FOLLOWING ‘KNIGHT RIDER’ AND ‘LIFE’ IN ALL NEW CRIME BLOCK LINEUP AND ‘LIPSTICK JUNGLE’ JOINS FRIDAY LINEUP ON OCTOBER 31
‘Momma’s Boys’ Premiere Moves to Tuesday, December 16 After ‘The Biggest Loser’ Finale
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. -- NBC adds more drama to its Wednesday night schedule when an all-new season of "Law & Order" premieres Wednesday, November 5, (10-11 p.m. ET), following "Knight Rider" (8-9 p.m. ET) and "Life" (9-10 p.m. ET) in its new day and time period. Likewise, the network also re-shapes Fridays with "Lipstick Jungle" stepping in behind "Crusoe," (9-10 p.m. ET) beginning Friday, October 31 (10-11 p.m. ET).
In addition, "Momma's Boys" – from executive producers Ryan Seacrest and Andrew Glassman -- will now debut Tuesday, December 16 (10-11 p.m. ET) after the season finale of "The Biggest Loser" (8-10 p.m. ET). The alternative series will then return in its regular day and time of Mondays beginning December 22 (9-10 p.m. ET) after "Heroes" ends its current volume on December 15. ("Momma's Boys'" previously announced debut date was Wednesday, November 12).
The announcements were made by Ben Silverman and Marc Graboff, Co-Chairmen, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios.
"These moves will play to the shows' mutual strengths and will help us to reinforce our lineup," said Silverman and Graboff. "A Wednesday night with wall-to-wall satisfying mysteries and great dramas -- paced by the return of the original 'Law & Order' to its home on Wednesdays – will provide creative continuity that night. Fridays will feature escapist drama with 'Lipstick Jungle' joining 'Crusoe.' Additionally, this strategy for 'Momma's Boys' offers the show a more favorable launch platform."
"Law & Order," the longest-running crime series and the second-longest-running drama series in the history of television, enters its 19th season with returning characters Detective Cyrus Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and partner, Detective Kevin Bernard (Anthony Anderson), who investigate crimes and apprehend suspects under the supervision of their precinct lieutenant, Anita Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson). Chief Assistant District Attorney Michael Cutter (Linus Roache) and the Executive Assistant District Attorney Connie Rubirosa (Alana De La Garza) are back manuvering within a complicated justice system to prosecute the accused under the guidance of District Attorney Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston).
The show is a Wolf Films production in association with Universal Media Studios. Dick Wolf is creator and executive producer; Rene Balcer, Fred Berner and Peter Jankowski are the executive producers.
Airing in the Wednesday 10-11 p.m. (ET) hour last season, "Law & Order" averaged a 3.3 rating, 8 share in adults 18-49 and 10.8 million viewers overall, a 22 percent increase in 18-49 and a 20 percent jump in total viewers versus its results for the prior season, when it ran on Friday nights.
The Wall Street Journal called "Life" "...a steady burn – of talent, of smart writing, of chemical reactions." The New York Daily News called it "brilliant" and "sizzling" and the Dallas Morning News called it "a new-age 'Rockford Files.'"

I thought Law & Order was going to return in January of 09! Whew! But what about Criminal Intent? Does that still have Jeff Goldblum replacing Mr. Big?
-
...of turning NBC into turd.
-
Yay!

It sounds like you're belittling cookies as a prize. How dare you? Cookies are nummy.

and now i'll probably get to watch L&O this year... the episodes i saw last season were reinvigorated, plus i love jeremy sisto. tonight's Life was plenty enjoyable, by the way.
-
Thats because LIFE is the only decent show NBC has.. Way to go LIFE. Remember last year when NBC aired LIFE and Journeyman back to back a few times on Monday and Wednesday nights? That was a great line up. Shame they couldn't just give Journeyman the time it needed to evolve. This is good news.
-
So no spoilers without warning please! I miss the TV show talkbacks when 24 and LOST aren't in season.. Herc you need to do a LIFE TB every week
-
Although I worry that Knight Rider is a pretty crappy lead in.
-
wasn't that an ass rape movie from the 70's?
-
Now I can actually watch episodes of Life when they air, instead of catching up the next morning online. Why the fuck did they have such a great show in such a horrible time-slot anyway? I love this show.
-
Law & Order won't be the lead-in for Life. Knight Rider will. I would think L&O then Life would have made more sense.
-
I love the lead actors, but the stories are a little weak. I also miss the mystery being so integral like it was in the first season. Hopefully NBC will give them the time to work out the rough spots.
-
I didn't see every Law & Order episode last season, but from what I saw, I actually liked the current cast lineup quite a bit (even though Anthony Anderson's role in the Shield makes it hard for me to take him seriously in L&O), and it actually felt a lot fresher to me than it has in a while.
-
That is it! This show is a great and subtle mystery! Good move, moving it to Wed.
-
The season opener was on Monday. Ep. 2 was on Friday. Ep. 3 was back on Monday because of the Prez. debate. Eps 4,5,6 back on Friday..and now to Wednesday. Please. Nurture this thing; it's the only decent network show around.
-
I know the lead dude is supposed to be "quirky", but I find him aggravatingly quirky. Doesn't seem like an awful show. I just can't get past the guy. Though it's good to see any Band of Brothers alum working.Oh, and Alana De La Garza makes me think all sorts of things my mother would be ashamed of me for.

Early Law & Order is OK with me...

I just checked a week or two ago and was saddened to see it wasn't premiering until January. I don't want anything to do with any of these newfangeld TV shows. I fear change.
I watched the reruns on TNT for years (how can you avoid them?), but I really wanted to see District Attorney Jack McCoy and Junior Detective Billy Chenowith, so last season was the first time I watched them 'new'. I was pleasantly surprised. Didn't care for the way they wrote Det. Green off the show but Anderson was a decent enough replacement. -
It deserves to move out of the death slot.
-
..I really don't want Reese to get together with her boss. He's SO out of her league that, if the two got together, it would take me out of the show.
-
The cast just clicks, great actors...snappy writing and unique story. Shot well and great sound track as a bonus.
-
I can't quite put my finger on exactly what it is but it seems to a combo of the following.1. They've backed off of Crews wierdness and dialed back his anger I think.2. They've shied away from Reeses problems with drugs and alcohol.3. They're making it more of a straight procederal instead of the bizarre but oh so intereting hybrid that was the first season.5. Donal Louge, no way should he and Reese start knocking boots. No. Fucking. Way. Plus he's no where near as good as Calamity Jane. On general principals I'm going to blame NBC for messing with Life. Rabid monkies could run NBC better then the current regiem. What a bunch of jerkoffs.
-
the lead character comes across as all surface, there's no beating heart of realness to him. Hopefully they will change this. I ditto everyone else saying that Reese/Logue would be a major mistake for the show.
-
The first season was pitch perfect, they wrote it to allow you to see the pain, how he coped with his Zen, and the fruit. This season they have ratcheted that stuff way back, and almost totally ignored the "frame" storyline. I still like the show, but I think it was more rich last season. Hell, with a lead-in of Knight Rider it's going to seem like Masterpiece Theater.
-
There's onyl so long you could go with the 'what is a cellphone?' or 'Internet?'. I do like that they do bring it up sparingly (motion sensor faucets). What I really like is unlike all of the other cop shows, there's no high tech solutions, just straight detection. "Rockford Files" is a great comparison. I would have thought Reese might have slipped off the wagon when her family threw her out. I actually let out a little 'Yeah!' at the end of this week's show when they announced they are bringing it back to the 'heart' of primetime, as opposed to the wasteland of Friday night. Move Knight Rider to Friday nights.
-
Logue repeatedly states that all his wives were disgusted with him at first.
Obviously they became re-disgusted later because they are EXWIVES.
-
Season two is expanding from season one. Still fun/goofy/human.
C'mon Reese asking the question over dinner was stunning. -
Either I missed it, or it was never explained. He was a rookie street cop (or close to a rookie) when he was put in jail. Then he got out and he was a detective.
