When & How You Can See JCVD!!

Published at:  Oct 23, 2008 11:39:01 AM CDT

Merrick here...

We've talked about JCVD quite a bit here on AICN, and have received a bevy of highly positive reviews of the film - which is currently in release overseas and recently screened at Fantastic Fest in Austin.

We've also received a few e-mails asking us when and where JCVD could be seen. A fair enough question; distribution of this film isn't as ginormous or apparent as many of the titles we cover here.

An AICN reader named Vlad noticed that the official JCVD website (HERE) has added a "theaters" page which tells us when the film will arrive in particular cities. A few of the engagements mentioned feature confirmed appearances by Van Damme.

You can find said listings...

HERE!!!

The film's trailer, in both standard and HD variations of Glorious QuickTime, can be found HERE!

Van Damme is better then Seagal

    by judge_dredd

Not only is his acting better and that he can run properly, he can also do the splits and high kicks and stuff...

Van Damme can be the prince to SLY and ARNOLD!

    by abking

Stallone has RAMBO 5 coming and Schwarzenegger has PREDATOR 3 coming (both the studio head and the producer want him back) --along with his appearance in TERMINATOR SALVATION-- and now even a small fry like Van Damme seems to be on his way to some sort of comeback. JCVD looks good and hoepfully it leads to more big screen movies from Jean Claude.

Also, his age serves him well...

    by somerichs

he no longer looks like pretty-boy eurotrash, and I find myself no longer wanting to kick him in the nuts at first glance. His face looks lived in, like he's been through a lot and come out the other side (which probably isn't too far from the truth).

    Van

    by fartedinthefaceofhollywood

i was a Van Damme fan back in the day...Bloodsport and Kickboxer were cool, and in my opinion...martial arts classics in their own right...but even still, Van Damme CANT act...he just can't, not well anyway. in Bloodsport his acting was atrocious...i mean porno quality...in Kickboxer it was a bit better but not exactly "reference material", he just can't display emotion very well.

    by reckoner

Props to JCVD for at least doing something interesting... even if it's not good you have to give him that. Man his face is looked ragged after all the drugs he has consumed.

    Ah Baby Huey

    by kuryakin

    Good shit
Just hope it won't all be dubbed if it ever gets to the Uk
At least he dubbed his own voice there
And yeah, I like him much better than Seagal too. Better actor, better variety of films, more humour.
I also like that he's tried to work with HK directors and also first -time directors.

More of this sort of thing please.

They say it will be playing at The Nuart (and provide a correct link to The Nuart info), but then they give directions to the Landmark in Westwood. Which one is it actually going to be playing at I wonder?

    Best Role...

    by r3write

This will probably be his best role as himself since "BREAKIN"

notice how free and energetic he was when he thought there wasn't a camera there for him. maybe thats what they did here?

i think they tried with kickboxer, but they probably just got him drunk enough to do anything apart from the dancing. maybe this is the sequel, only with cocaine as the offering.

actually, i shouldn't be even talking i'm a huge van damme fan. and even if he did ruin street fighter, and tarnished a few names (john woo, ringo lam, etc.) it wasn't entirely his fault for all them. he was trying to get somewhere, find the perfect movie but got too close with the perfect material he wasn't even right for. actually, its hollywood to blame and he got caught in that mix, so maybe he does have some blaming to do. but now with the only movie van damme can do, himself, maybe it'll work. i'm glad he finally found that role he was searching for. and i'll be there to watch his shining moment. OR MAYBE i'm just hoping he'll have another dance battle in there by suprise.
