Speaking of “Lost,” you can find the season-five trailer here.

First of all: Wohoooooooo! At first I thought this would be just another fan-made youtube-video. But then I realized that putting a grown up Aaron-look a like in front of a camera next to Evangeline Lilly would go beyond the budget and effort of even the most dedicated Losties. Is the "THE ISLAND WON'T LET YOU COME ALONE"-line from season 4 or season 5? It was the only thing clouding my enjoyment of new nano-seconds of lost-footage. I got some seriously creepy "the skull told me to return it"-vibes from it and it just sounds so horribly dull that I hope there's a reasonable explanation for it....

    The thing about LOST...

    by pirateemery

... is that it theoretically "jumped the shark" at the beginning of season 2. The whole 'underground bunkers created by a mysterious organization in the seventies complete with conspiracy theories' thing should have done in LOST's credibility as a show. If anything, THAT would have made the show jump the shark.

Too bad for critics, but that shark had a mysterious Dharma tattoo on its fin.

    BSG & Lost

    by himbo

One has a hatch. One has Richard Hatch. Both had an awesome first season. Lost reveals a story through the lives of it's characters. BSG takes the characters it builds and turns them into pulled out of the butt Cylons. Lost's WTF season enders give me chills. BSG's season enders have me screaming at the TV with "Don't pull that planet of the apes crap with me." I look forward to Lost. I've stopped watching BSG a couple of times, and now can only view on x2 TiVo speed with closed caps on, so it only takes some time. The musical overlay soulful glances are much more tolerable that way (Try it with the Gaita the singing amputee episode and you will agree).
I'm not one for ShowA v. ShowB wars, but it's late, and the stage was set.

Sci-fi will air Mansquito 13 times before the bsg finale.
They air mansquito on average 2 times a year.
So on the 7th airing of the bsg series, Sci-Fi will finally air the BSG finale.
Thats 3.5 years more they can draw this out.
Thats 7 houses for Bonnie Hammer.

    Lost influence on Heroes

    by the mcpoyle clan

Intentional or not, I would hope any influence Lost has on Heroes would be for the Heroes writers to raise their game after suffering a poor season, just as Lost's writers did. So far, it hasn't worked out that way, so we'll see. And if Chuck can make Nicole Ritchie a tolerable screen presence, they should have no problem with DM.

    by spyguy

First season HEROES or BSG, perhaps, but those two shows lost their comparison privileges to LOST starting with both of their second seasons onward.

With Season 4, LOST has evolved into the territory of TWIN PEAKS and THE PRISONER. These final two seasons will make or break the legend.

Keep hearing people talk about it around here, but I've never seen a single episode or even know what the hell it's about. As of right now LOST is my favorite show on TV. Period. Runners up: Dexter, Supernatural, The Shield, BSG (though I've found BSG wildly inconsistent... at times I'm enthralled, other times I'm lethargic). Shows I watch just to entertain myself but I don't consider really quality: Terminator, Heroes, Fringe, Prison Break, and Stargate Atlantis (sometimes a chore). Hopefully when 24 comes back it will be firing on all cylinders...

If you want to pull off an action such as implying that BSG > LOST, then you'd better do your research before you call out plot holes.

From 'There's No Place Like Home, Pt 3':

Lapidus: Where's the island? Where's the island?! Where the HELL's the island?!
    Hurley: It's gone...
Lapidus: Where the hell am I going to land this thing?!

...people describe a show's plot to insult a show's quality, assuming that said description is enough to warrant some sort of universal consensus of absurdity. For example: Battlestar Galactica is so contrived! It's even worse than Star Trek Enterprise now. There's Cylons and Humans. And some of them fight and others get along. by aquatarkusman

.... Lost was smarter in having theirs earlier in the run, instead of wasting our fucking time with the Who's the Final Cylon maguffin bullshit. // As for Twin Peaks, it's because the network forced them to reveal the killer, where Lynch wanted it to remain unsolved. • While not as consistent as the shorter first season, the second season premiere, the revelation of Laura's killer, Maddie's death, BOB's incarceration, Dennis/Denise Bryson, Windom Earle, the return of Catherine, Andrew Packard, and the series finale were damn good entertainment (and hot!), especially when directed by David Lynch.

In fact, having recently rewatched the entire series thanks to the complete series set, the only real clunker episode was the one directly after the resolution of the BOB storyline. And since the series is so fondly remembered by many 17 years later, I think any attempt to raise BSG above it is ultimately doomed to failure and derision. Or shall we discuss "Black Market," "Hero," "Taking a Break from All Your Worries," "A Day in the Life," "Dirty Hands," and "The Road Less Traveled"?

have to agree with spyguy, although there is some really dumb stuff in the second season (i'm looking at you officer andy paternity plot and super powered nadine), it's MOSTLY terrific. some of the most terrifying TV ever aired, too, BTW (final episode in particular). overall of course the first season is better but i own and watch the entire series pretty regularly (once every couple of years). the second season's bad rap is undeserved.

    Show Design

    by deejay

I really think at least one strength to the design of "Lost" is the fact that we expect the show to end in 2 seasons. This gives a clear beginning and end to the story, which is something viewers aren't often treated to. The question I have is; who will be the main antagonists in Season 5? For most of season one, their conflict was with each other. Subsequent seasons had the Others and the ship crew as the main villains. If most of the ship crew is "taken care of" early in the season, we could easily see a new tension emerge on and off the island. At the same time, introducing new villains would work on this show, because we already know that such acts aren't desperate stunts to simply stimulate enough ratings to stay on the air for another season. By the way... as we've been told that Vincent is to last until show's end, have they ever explained how Walt got that dog in the first place?

    New antagonists: Dharma

    by david lazarus long

The people who were left behind on the island (Sawyer, Juliet, Faraday, etc) are now in the island's past (Swan station not imploded, beach camp doesn't exist, no plane wreckage from 815). Probably around 1984 or so (complete guesswork). They join up with Richard and other inhabitants who have also been sent back to the Island's past from some point in the future, and together they become the "Hostiles" that the Dharma initiative feared so much. They might also cause the "INCIDENT" that occured in 1985, and could indeed be the very reason that ol' Smokey exists/was let loose/went crazy in the first place. Also, we might just get to meet Danielle and her crew when they crashed.

That's about right. Remember the comic-con video revealing Marvin Candle's real name as "Pierre Chang"? Then we heard Faraday's voice at the end of the video. The new screencaps match. Hopefully well be able to meet Razindsky in the hatch, along with the return of Kelvin. We also see the plane that killed Boone crash again. Maybe it's just an old image, but why is that significant? Also, ROUSSEAU backstory. YES.

The moment they left the island... They never should have left in the first place.

No leaving the island was an amazing twist

That season 3 finale's ending stands as one of the most shocking moments in television history. Maybe THE most. It's fucking perfect. This was a great way to extend the lifetime of this show, keep it fresh and still keep it about the island and the characters.

    DeeJay: Vincent

    I believe Vincent was initially Brian's (Walt's step-dad's) dog.

Episode 5.01 - Because You Left
    Episode 5.02 - The Lie
    Episode 5.03 - Jughead
Episode 5.04 - The Little Prince
Episode 5.05 - This Place is Death
Episode 5.06 - The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham
What do you think? From what we know it looks like 5.01 will be on island after the O6 left.
5.02 is probably O6 related. Their lie.
5.03? Got me. This is on par with Eggtown. In the Archie comics Jughead was lazy and obsessed with food. Hurley? But he was also intelligent and nonconformist. Daniel?
5.04. Obvious literary reference. Perhaps referring to Aaron?
5.05. Wow. You got me. Could mean anything. No literary reference I can find. The Island? Seems too obvious.
5.06. Whoooodoggie. obviously about Locke's off-island adventures with the O6.

    Johnny Smith...

    by deejay

... thanks. With Vincent the only promised "survivor" when all is said and done, I just wonder. Either he survives because--- well--- dogs can't talk, or because he's something more than just a pet. Anyway, check out the trailer at 1:04 (on the left side). You never know who's in the hazmat suit, but it looks like Farady encounters Inman--- and maybe Desmond--- at some prior point in time. This *could* mean that Faraday is the one who tore Inman's suit, which led to Desmond being able to make his initial contact with Faraday in the first place. Also... it's a little curious as to why they keep implying that Aaron has to come back, but not necessarily Sun's child or Walt. There must be a reason for that...
