Merrick here...

...with brief, Geeky snippets about material for two cool games.

First up? There's a giveaway happening over at Evil Avatar - they wanna give you five hardcover of the DEAD SPACE graphic novel. I don't own...thus haven't had a chance to play...DEAD SPACE (XBOX 360, PS3, PC), but a friend brought it over this weekend and (from what I saw) it seemed pretty damn amazing.

Here's the details, straight from Evil Avatar:

Good Morning from EvilAvatar.com! (And if I don't see you: Good Afternoon, Good Evening and Goodnight!)

http://www.evilavatar.com.

Celebrating the release of their survival/horror title, Dead Space, Electronic Arts has provided us FIVE copies of the hardcover Dead Space graphic novel to give away!

Here is some information on the story:

"The prequel to the all-new blockbuster sci-fi survival horror game from Electronic Arts! On the distant mining colony of Aegis VII, something strange and alien lurks beneath the surface... a mysterious artifact that brings nothing but trouble to the isolated workforce.

As the arrival of the famous planetcracker ship Ishimura fast approaches, security officer Bram Neumann finds himself caught between religious fervor, miners slowly going insane, and the machinations of the mining corporation itself as he races to discover the secrets of the Marker... before it destroys them all! Collecting Dead Space issues #1 to 6."

How do you win? Just post a reply to this thread:

Just finishing the last level, and this is a game to own, not just rent. It's a bit of Gears Or War, Resident Evil 4, and the movie Event Horizon. Playing at medium, want to replay immediately on hard.

Great AICN Games this week. Absolutely no use whatsoever.

What exactly is the use of this barely-regular slot? Might as well have AICN daytime TV.

is absolutely amazing. I'm on the 9th level right now and it just keeps getting better and better. This blows away the sad crap that is Silent Hill: Homecoming.

    Dead Space: Downfall on BluRay

    by deanbarry

Just watched the animated feature that serves as a prequel to the game. It was beatiful presented with rich colours and great sound. Fans of the game should check it out. It was by the far, the most graphic, violent and grissly 'toon I've ever seen!!!!

Excellent. This game is fun... I think it's a great homage to various sci fi horror movies. Stomping mutated and mutilated corpses into bloody pulp is nice.

Its nice when an original title sneaks its way

    by skimn

in among an explosion of high profile sequels (Saints Row, Fable, Far Cry, Fallout, Gears Of War) and is so damned impressive. Saints, Fable, and Far Cry have all gotten good reviews, and with Gears around the corner, its a good time to be a gamer. My Xmas list has expanded expotentially.

Dead Space in a landslide. A little less shoot em up than F.E.A.R., but way more atmosphere and much better graphics and environments.

And THE game to play if you have a flat screen

    by skimn

The minor graphic adjustment the programmers made is that they positioned the third person view of the main character, slightly left of center, which gives the game a great cinematic feel.
