NBC Gives KNIGHT RIDER Full First-Season Order!!

Published at:  Oct 21, 2008 12:43:03 PM CDT

I am – Hercules!!

Despite horrible reviews and mediocre ratings, 4th-place NBC has extended fall's worst show to a full season.

I guess this means David Hasselhoff will get to make another appearance as the new Knight Rider’s dad.

Somewhere, Dan Vasser weeps a single tear.

Find all of Mike Ausiello’s Entertainment Weekly exclusive on the matter here.

its a decent show, not as good as journeyman...but a decent show..i like that producers cleaned up the tv movie and put in some things that were missing, namely turbo boost and a transformation sequence reminiscent of super pursuit mode...the other transformation is hot too, the 4wd...im wondering what other vehicles k.i.t.t will eventually be able to morph into...but im glad the show will have a full season to draw in the viewers or all the haters will have their way and it wont be renewed....

    by deanbarry

Who have no idea about what human's like to watch...or are conducting evil, mind altering experiments on us. I swear. I think there is something written about it in one of those recently revealed, confidential files involving U.F.O sightings that the English Government has just revealed to the world. Down here, in Australia. No matter how good a show is, if it doesn't pull the numbers in the first week, it gets canned. Yet, I imagine when Knight Rider finaly gets screened here, it'll be shown for a full run. I can't figure the meathead's out who dictate such programming. And we, as the consumer, the everyman, has to be subjected to it. Hey, maybe it's a big conspiracy for us to actually turn the telly off and go outside. Read a book. Talk to our family's??? That's the only rationale I can think of. And I'll be damned, it's working! Bravo Alien beings!

I watched the TV movie with high expectations in March, but couldn't even make it all the way through that. I've seen 2 episodes of the show, and it's beyond awful. NBC has sure gone downhill, but they still have some good stuff (Chuck - just got into, The Office; I'll be giving Crusoe a chance).

For whoever said "Worst Week" was an example of a terrible show, that show is wall-to-wall hilarious and deservedly the most popular new comedy.

A 5-Year Old Could Get A Programming Job @ NBC

    by cheif brody

NBC is creatively bankrupt. I get that they think that the world is going to hell in a hand basket...so let's just pump out some mindless, fluffy entertainment for the masses.
That steamy pile called "Crusoe"? OMG! I've seen better episodes of "Beastmaster"! It's "LOST" (flashbacks included!)...with a dash of "Pirates of the Carribean"...minus the great writing. I swear a 5-year old wrote that script.
"Heroes" has been allowed to devolve into a bad teen "Superfriends", which "Smallville" has already been mining successfully for years without becoming a silly comic book soap opera.
Now "Knight Rider" gets a pass? I caught a few minutes of it the other night, and I swear I thought I was watching "Baywatch 2008".
If it wasn't for Thursday nights (until 10pm) and Sunday Night Football...I would never watch NBC. I hear great things about "Life"...but I couldn't even tell you when it was on.

j2talk, differences in Quantum Leap and Journeyman

    by big jim

Sam went to one time to "put right what once went wrong" and then leap to another time to do the same again in the next episode. Dan would go back to change one thing then return to the present where he could find out about the person he helped only to be sent back again to help them along further (like in the first episode he saves a guy from getting hit by a trolley, then goes back a few years after that to keep him together with his girlfriend, then goes back to a few years later to keep him from killing his girlfriend and their child). He would make several trips in the same episode.Sam would leap into the bodies of other people. Dan would physically travel in time. Not only could he interact with family and friends, but would on occasion have to avoid running into himself. Plus he would need to explain his sudden absences from his present life.

Was going to post the same about Journeyman

    by heckles

But this bullshit lame ass Knight Rider show gets a full season order. Original ideas are punished on Network TV. That's why HBO gets all the accolades. Even AMC got one right. That's why NBC sucks ass. Without The Office I would never watch the network.

    Journeyman didn't really get explained

    by big jim

The last episode does give some answers but they left it open in case the show got picked up. More of a sense of what is going on rather than an explanation. It doesn't get tied up in a nice neat package but, as said above, there is some closure to the series at the end.

    Great show !

    by keith maniac

The only consistent thing on the internet is inconsistency. Battlestar Galactica returns, geared to todays audiences and half the internet laments the fact that it is not a direct continuation. Star Wars and Indiana Jones are resurrected and are burnt at the stake for not being enough like the earlier episodes. V is announced to be returning, albeit retooled, "I WONT BE WATCHING etc, etc". Knight Rider rises for the dead and whats this ? its got plenty of action and plenty of tits and ass and not much more on its mind than giving its audience 43 mins thought free distraction. With the notable exception of Rocky and Rambo its the only thing in the last 18yrs to return as true to its original form as the day it went awol. And based on the previous reactions to other franchises one would assume this would garner it a hero's welcome. FAT FUCKIN' CHANCE! , YES its corny, YES its underplotted and over-acted, YES its probably a little un-pc, YES its getting bad reviews, in other words its EXACTLY like the original. They have finally recaptured the tone of something virtually to the letter and what happens ? (adopt whiny child voice) "its not much like the other shows on now is it" Any producer or exec trying gauge their next move by the measure of the plebs opinions on the internet would finish their days FUCKING insane !

the original show was shit...but can be excused because tv was full of shit then...dukes of hazzard, the a-team, etc...god awful shows for the moronic tv viewer....many here keep hoping that tv and the viewer will evolve...but what we see is reality shows and more crap...people got upset at the new star wars and indy because they sucked, as compared to the originals...nobody was pissed at bsg...in fact, most are pleasantly surprised that there is at least one tv exec who took a chance, took a shit show, and did improve on it...but if shows like knight rider become successful, there really is no hope for american tv or the american people...and i am now sure that mccain will win on november 4, for we are truly a nation of morons

    Reply to Talkback

  • you're right, the gay squirt gun fight fits the tone of the original... *sarcasm*
honestly, they need to have the semi-truck.... and the transforming, is just fucked... the pickup truck transforms, and suddenly the people in the bed of the pickup truck, are in the seat of the mustang.... i'm assuming it's the nano technology that lets the car transform, but I just don't believe it... the mass of a full sized van, or a pick up trick, are way more then a little mustang.... the acting fucking sucks, the storyline is not interesting, and not believable.... give me a show with some fucking substance or fail

Ford is keeping this thing alive. On the plus side, a similar deal with Dodge is keeping Terminator going and that show is relatively decent. Is viewership no longer the metric but instead how many cars get sold?

    by phategod2

I forgot the details but basically its an ability certain people have had throughout time but now there are only two people left. Mckidds character could have taken a drug to stop the traveling but he decided that this was his destiny and it ended With his wife actually seeing him phase out in front of her eyes.

    by phategod2

I dont blame the guy who turned it off after the 1st 1/2 hour because I did love Journeyman Except for the 1st episode till the end I thought he would have to spend the whole season trying to convince his wife this was actually happening but once I saw we were not going to have one of those "Who's the Boss" plotlines I was fine, and from then on I liked it a hell of a lot more then QL.

    by leafar the lost

You had such a promising career. After playing such great roles in the movies Deadwood, Batman III, and the Doors, I thought you had a great future as an A-list, Hollywood star. Now, you are a fat, bloated, z-list has-been, who is the voice of a "car" on the worse show on network television. What the fuck happened? I am not joking, I really want to know.

The point of remakes and my point.

    by keith maniac

I concede that the point of why remake Knight rider is un-avoidable Spidermonkee. But to that i say, its probably the same reason The A Team is about to become a movie, some may not like those shows. But millions did and still do. You cant label people stupid just solely because they like this kind of entertainment bacci40. 16 million people a week watched The A team here in the UK when it aired originally (that was nearly a 3rd of the country population circa 1984) and the repeats are never off now. Bravo are currently showing the whole run again for what must be the seventh time in the last 4 years. The same goes for Knight Rider, shite or not it was massively popular in its day. Hence MR Exec trawling through his back catalogue looking for remake fodder must have been counting his lucky stars when he blew the dust off that one. Star Wars and Indy again, sorry you didnt like it , but the average punter clearly did, to the tune of God knows how many billion in collective gross for all 4 films. Yes the money isnt a reflection of quality, but this is mass entertainment and clearly the mass was entertained and the "mass" doesnt really care how they measure up to the old ones, to them its just a disposable pleasure. Nobody was pissed about Battlestar ? so when i spoke to Katee whatsherface in Manchester a couple of years ago now, she must have been talking about another Battlestar remake when she said to me and i quote "i get so many people asking me why Starbuck's a woman now and what happened to the shows original format!". I saw the clips at Comic Con when that guy said "Starbuck was a cigar smoking, womaniser, we loved him" cue large cheer from audience. Personally i love the new show, still love the old one as well, its funky 70's disco cheese, reminds me of being a nipper. I say richer is the man (or woman) who can walk on both sides of the televisual street. If you can just laugh and enjoy the frivolous on the surface, but also appreciate the depth of emotion or edification of other efforts, then surely your palette is the more diverse for it ?

    Kilmer

    by krazeyivan

Goes to sleep at night on a mountain of cash! Hey I record my voice and get paid = easy money!

The new knight rider is shit - the only good thing is the fit lead chick, apart from that even the lame pilot beats it - attack mode my ass, the 80's version looked more advanced.

Speaking of the 80's shows - A Team, Knight Rider, Airwolf, Dukes of Hazzard - they are legend - mainly cos pissed they are funny as fuck, anyone dissing them get the fuck out of dodge!

NBC are the new Fox cancelling quality and replacing it with turd - fox never lost that title by the way NBC now join them in the league of "Our TV execs are coke fiends, and do not recognise quality FULL STOP"

Fuck it - Streethawk was legend too - sooo bad it turned mint

    by themikejonas

...if Will Arnett had been kept as KITT. It'd still be crap, but it'd be much more entertaining crap, just as I felt Batman & Robin would've been a little less painful with Patrick Stewart instead of Arnold Schwarzenegger as Freeze.
