Mini-Me in THE GRINCH WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS!!!

Published at:  Jun 27, 1999 9:38:51 PM CDT

Well, I don't know about you folks, but I can tell ya this... There is a strange curious part of me that is just DYING to see what Rick Baker has put together for THE GRINCH WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS. In all likelihood it won't be till SHOWEST of next year when we might get our first glimpse... But I'm gonna try to get an early peek. BUt for now... it looks like Mini-Me might very well be showing up in this film... not at Mini-Me though... At least I don't think so...

Don't know if you heard this yet, or if you care, but Verne Troyer,
Mini-Me from Austin Powers 2, was on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborne
the other night and Craig asked him what was next for him, and Verne said
that it was almost a done deal that he was going to be in The Grinch Who
Stole Christmas. Verne didn't say which role though.

Oh well, hope this helps...

    Mini Me and The Grinch...

    by doctor zaz

Yeah! Mini Me was awesome. He was such a cool character. Everyone should see AP2 for him. Well except for anal Christian mothers who hate rude sayings. I can't wait for the Grinch...But will it work as an at least 90 minute movie? The classic cartoon is less than an hour. And any of the cool songs in the movie?

    "Grinch"

    by hamadryad

I know this is a nitpicky thing, but it's not "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas," it's "How The Grinch Stole Christmas." I know it seems like a little thing, but I can imagine people getting up in arms if you called "The Lord of the Rings," "The Tale of the Rings," or "The Empire Strikes Back," "The Empire That Struck Back." On "Prevue Guide" (oops, the TV Guide channel, whatever, same channel, same format, different name) they keep referring to "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" as "I Still Remember What You Did Last Summer." It's all little stuff, but I find it aggravating. Yay. Go ahead and flame me for nitpicking, it's my life.

    Old news

    by haunted

Yeah, I knew this already since Verne was on E! News a week ago and talked about it. He also said his part will be a midget helper of the Grinch.

Grunter must have a serious hard on for Tim Burton. Granted, Ron Howard isn't the greatest director, but anyone can alter their style to fit a film. What makes you think it *WILL* be a peice of fluff kiddie film, and not take on a somewhat dark tone? Have you read the script? Seen production art? Talked to anyone involved in the film? Probably not. So quit sucking Tim Burtons dick, and wait until you have facts, dipshit. Tim Burton is quickly becoming "yesterdays" director. Remember _Mars_Attacks_? What the fuck was that? An $80million joke paying homage to Ed Wooand some stupid ass cards?

    Grunter

You are a pissed off young man, aren't you? Since when is Dr. Seuss a dark writer! Hell, most of his stuff is pretty light hearted, with cool designs. Grow up, not everything has to be dark and twisted!

Everything MUST be dark and twisted

    by -z-

not really, but I couldn't help myself (also Dr. Sueuss did kinda have a tendency towards darkness in some of his work, and his art was definitely twisted). And for phr33ke or whatever, Mars attack was a cool, fun flick. Ron Howard made Ransom, nuff said.

    I am puzzled at this...

    by wemdog1

Why, and how, would anyone make a live action Grinch movie? What's the point? It was a cool but brief cartoon; how the hell are you going to really expand on what's there without screwing things up. I guess the Grinch himself will look like a CGI rendered character left over from Phantom Menace (this isn't good, because CGI is still not good enough to carry an entire film) and Ron Howard is the ABSOLUTE wrong-est (bad grammar, not a real word I know) choice for this material. I would start getting excited if Tim Burton were on for this project. He's the only one appropriate that could pull it off. BTW, speaking of midgets, what the hell happened to Warwick Davis and Kenny Baker? Y'know, I am suprised there hasn't been some big time discrimination suit on behalf of the midgets against Hollywood. Who knows...
Instead, why not get Warwick in to do Willow 2 with Ron on that? I thought Willow was pretty good...

-Z- Pay attention. I never said he was a good director, in fact, I said he "wasn't the best". And what about Ransom? It sucked. But not as much as Tim Burton's fucked up joke he called _Mars_Attacks_. If you thought that film was cool, then go outside. Get on your Shwinn, and ride to the video store to rent a decent Sci-Fi film. (_Pi_ (unless it's too thought provoking, then you can come back and say it "sucked"). The aliens looked like cel drawn cartoons, the ships ripped off Harryhausen, and the entire thing was a fucking joke on 50's Sci-Fi films. Ed Wood made Timmie boy too fucking nostalgic for it, so he made that peice of shit. Tim has had some good films, yes, but that was *FAR* from being one. In fact, you couldn't even classify that film as something on the level of shit.

    dark grinch?

    by cohen

sarcasm is not the same thing as subtelty. If they have to make a new Grinch (which I hope they don't) why can't it be honest and nice like the original.

It amazes me how many people didn't get Mars Attacks

    by quiscustodiet

It wasn't a joke on 50's flicks it was an hommage to them and for that it was positively brilliant. Of course they looked cheesy, they were meant to, of course there were continuity errors (Nicholson's tie), they were meant to be there. Read a friggin interview with Burton for God's sakes before criticizing his methods.

How about it? A three-foot tall, twin lightsaber wielding clone of the big man. I shall call him, Mini-Maul!

    Yeah, that would be cool!

When you mention "Valkenvania," you are referring to "Nothing But Trouble," which, although I stand alone on this opinion (along with my sister), is a pretty funny movie which seems cultish to us. I agree, the two babies, both played by Dan Akroyd, were disgusting, but I thought it was pretty fuckin' funny. Well, just for your info. And another thing, stop bitchin' all the time. Opinions can be personal, but trying to convert people just isn't cool, man.

Grinch, Mars Attacks, and Austin 2

    by funmazer

THANK YOU! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! I'm thanking all of you that thought Austin 2 was anything better than just slightly funny. Yes, it's you, you my friends, that will propel this rubber-stamp plug n' play let's make the teeny-boppers happy POS into the 200 mil domestic zone, and beyond. Yes, I admit, some parts were funny. But most everything else DID NOT WORK! Including.... MINI-ME! So, what, is he gonna flip people off for 2 hours as we watch GRINCH? Is he going to hump the last can Who-Hash? Please, someone inform me what Mini-Me did besides flip people off! SO ANYWAY I don't see what's so great about him being in GRINCH. Oh, and about DIRECTORS. Yes, send Ronnie packing, but, don't let Burton on either. He's still gotta make up for Mars Attacks Our Intelligence. I say, let the BABE team take Grinch all the way home! OH MAN!!!!! What if Hugo Weaving narrated? I would be there INSTANTLY!!! Ok, grab George Miller, or Chris Noonan, and go to town! Oh, one other thing I'd like to know. Their seems to be a lot of Babe ass- kissing on this site. However, how many of you were pissed when it was ROBBED for Best Picture by the worshipped-by-every-geek Braveheart? Hm? HM???? True Babe fans would say ME ME ME! Oh, well. MILLER - WEAVING - GRINCH!!! Oh, hell. Just make Weaving the Grinch. But we'll get rubberface. Ug.

dreadpiratebob: You too, do you read these fucking things, or just scan them for key phrases, to get pissy about? Read my first god damn post --An $80million joke paying homage to Ed Woo(d)and some stupid ass cards?-- That is what I fucking put. It was a god damn joke paying homage to 50's films. And makes people look at the old stuff as a big fucking joke, rather than as just cool films to watch. All of my friends who watched _Mars_Attacks_ now go back and look at a brilliant film like _The_day_the_Earth_Stood_Still_, and view it as a fucking joke. Why? Because Tim Burton totally shit all over the genre. The movie was shit. Just because you like campiness doesn't mean it's a brilliant fucking film.
