You Wanted AVENGERS?? The Producer Of SUPER ROBOT MONKEY TEAM Is Gonna Give 'Em To You, Sorta!!

Published at:  Oct 08, 2008 9:27:24 AM CDT

Merrick here...

Ciro Nieli, producer of SUPER ROBOT MONKEY TEAM HYPER FORCE GO! and director of many TEEN TITANS animated series, is pulling together an animated AVENGERS series. It'll (more or less) accompany the theoretical-to-probable arrival of THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA and THE AVENGERS live action movies in a few years.

Film Roman, the company behind "The Simpsons" and "King of the Hill," has been tapped to produce the 26-episode series, which will be available for broadcast in 2011, in time for Marvel Studios' releases of the tentpole live-action movies "The First Avenger: Captain America" and "The Avengers."

...says THIS ARTICLE in Hollywood Reporter.

This image has nothing to do with THE AVENGERS animated series, other than it has THE AVENGERS in it, which actually does make it about THE AVENGERS series even though it's not actually from it. Or something like that.

looks crappy. it has a good lineup as long as they continue to add more to the team like hawkeye or scarlet witch as the series had done.

    Captain America, the Dead Avenger?

    by andre the frog

Who was manipulated into thinking he was his country's symbol while for 50 years the real work was carried out by his black ops former sidekick. Yeah, that's real inspirational.

It wasnt the "real work" it was the extra dirty work. Cap was an ass kicker and a symbol to drive American soldiers. He is inspiration incarnate.

    The First Avenger: Captain America?

    by silentp

That's not... actually what they're planning to call the movie, right? RIGHT?

    Actually...

    by johnny smith

...Bucky was working for the dirty Reds, so I wouldn't necessarily call that "the real work" by Cold War America's standards. And yes, they are calling the movie The First Avenger: Captain America. They're saying it's to tie the movie in more with the Avengers flick, but we all know they're just afraid of marketing a movie called Captain America overseas.

I hate that 'The First Avenger' prefix.

    by mr nicholas

I don't want to know it's part of a big franchise. That's for the Hollywood suits to care about. All I want is a decent, engaging title, in this case simply 'Captain America'.

Merrick, are we sure the flick is called "The Avengers"?

    by shermdawg

Didn't both Jackson and RDJ refer to it as "The Ultimates"? And wouldn't there be some legal hurdles anyway for that title given that Warner Bros. owns the rights to that OTHER Avengers property?

    by crankyoldguy

"Sentinel of Liberty?" Or will the Neo-Cons try to claim it all for their own (and we know damn well from the comics Cap would not tolerate Neo-Cons).

    by sirflibble

according to Newsarama that's the line up for this cartoon.

If this is coming out the same year as the movie, I'm taking bets that's the line up for the movie too.

    First Avenger?

    by cybyer

Lame title. Even stupider since Cap wasn't the first Avenger. Or second. Or third. Or fourth. Or fifth.
If they're going by publication date, wouldn't that make Sub-Mariner the first Avenger? And yes, I am a geek.

I agree with the Milf Lover...ULTIMATES are ruining comics

    by monkey_king

especially when the younger generation doesn't realize that the ULTIMATES books aren't 30+ years of MARVEL canon. My nephews and cousin have this debate all the time. Thanks alot, Brian Bendis for confusing the piss outta millions of young readers.
