Claimjumper and his SCREAM 3 rumors...

Published at:  Jun 27, 1999 9:32:46 PM CDT

As is usually the case with the SCREAM franchise the realm is filled with wild rumors and according to ol Claimjumper here, he's shooting straight. The only way to be sure is to look back in time after the release of the film, but for now... It's fun to just go through the names and see who is being rumored about with this project. My interest would be peaked it was a prequel and had RANDY back in it carnsarnit! Well, here's the ClaimJumper...

I've got some other little Scream 3 casting tidbits for ya. Seems about a
month ago, the names of Kellie Martin and Denise Richards showed up on a
list of possible contacts\auditions around the Scream 3 offices. Last week,
Jenny McCarthy came in looking for the auditions and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos
was in the building; though I'm not sure if she was there for Scream 3.
Obviously, the source can't be revealed, but this information is definitely
coming from the "inside". Make of it what you will.

Claimjumper out.

Then today I got this from the ClaimJumper

Talked to my Scream 3 source today. We had a good laugh about the recent
posting on your site regarding this production. Seems the only thing they
got right was that the "Buffy" cast was still a possibility. As for Ben
Affleck: Nope! They're trying to stick with relative newcomers. A scene
already in the can? Nope! Shooting doesn't start until July. For those of
you in L.A., keep your eyes open. This'll be the primary location. We talked
about some of the folks that had come by the office, and I mentioned that
I'd passed a couple names your way. We decided that it's probably
more fun to read rumors than reality anyway. "Seemingly reliable source"
sounds so much more mysterious than "person actually involved in the
day-to-day production" and rumors are bound to generate a lot more
Talkbacks.

As always, make of it what you will.

    I want to be a P.A.

    by darken

Does anyone know how I can get a job as a P.A. on the Scream 3 set? I'll be out in L.A. and damnit, I love Scream! All the movies I've PA'd on so far have been dramas, it's about time I got to work on a horror movie. Oh yeah, and what's the point of having the Buffy cast if you can't have Sara Michelle Gellar (cuz she got killed in part 2)?

I'd like to see just ONCE in my lifetime a story on here about the Scream franchises without Harry or anyone else moaning over the loss of their beloved Randy.

    by vaclav varada

Based on how bad Scream 2 was, how could anyone really want to see the next one? There's really not much left to surprise us with (three killers? wow). The key to the original was the surprise and the wit. Jamie Kennedy is gone so now both will be absent.

    Pre-equal?

    by mr. mafia

The thing about the scream movies are that they are surprising now a Pre-equal would not be to surprising would it.

    Scream 2 bad? Blasphemy!!

    by henry fool

Everybody, I know thought Scream 2 was considerably better than the original. For my part, I thought it was a better film than the first one, though the climax lacked the shock treatment that Scream had. I think Courtney Cox should turn out to be one of the killers in the next movie. The fun of Scream has always been that whenever the characters start talking about the rules of horror movies, they're basically throwing up a flag that says "We know this is ridiculous." They can basically get away with anything in these movies because the film itself proclaims its own absurdity. So why not have Courtney Cox be the killer? Gail always seemed pretty cynical to me. What if, having been corrupted by wealth and fame, she decided to make her next story by masterminding her own murders. Even better, what if she kills Sydney and gets away with it? I always cry at unhappy endings .

    "peaked" vs. "piqued"

    by lord bullingdon

Just a minor grammatical note: Harry, the proper spelling is "piqued" when you say, "my curiosity was piqued." The word is "peaked" when you say something like "the wave peaked and then crashed like so many Carrot Top routines." And it's spelled "peeked" when you say, "I only peeked through her window; certainly not grounds for a restraining order."

Aren't they gonna try to release this for Christmas?

    by paragonian

If they are, they're a bunch of morons. Rushing a movie has never made it better but I guess they think it'll make more money if released this Christmas. Funny how money men think. But I figured out the perfect ending if Ehren Kruger is reading. Have Randy suddenly appear at the end of the film as an accomplice to the other killer, he faked his death with a bunch of fake movie blood and bad acting in the second one. His long speech of a motive could be that he wanted all the film geeks to want him back in the last film and the Weinsteins said they'd sue his ass off if he told anybody. Plus all those movies he's seen must've made him into a raging psychopath.

    Grammar/spelling.

    by hamadryad

For the gentleman (I'm assuming) who corrected the "peaked/piqued/peeked" error: normally I'm as anal about spelling and grammatical errors as that old maid English teacher you had in ninth grade who took points off for every I not dotted and every T not crossed, but for some reason, here I am not. I have commented to more than a couple of friends that the interesting thing about Harry's writing style is that, and this is a minor miracle, his actual style makes up for his spelling and grammatical errors (of which there are painfully many, honestly). Call me an ass-kisser (a practitioner of gluteal-oral intercourse?) if you like...I stand to gain nothing by pointing this out.

    Randy in Scream

    by rnj24

I think Randy was the BEST part of Scream I and when he died in Scream 2, I felt like leaving the show..since it wasn't worth it anymore. Jamie Kennedy who plays Randy is a wonderful actor. He played Sampson in Romeo and Juliet 1996 and was in Enemy of the State working for "the bad guys."

    Leo Skywalker in SCREAM 3?

    by mckracken

hah just kidding....who really cares...I'm not interested...Scream 1 was only good if you were born within 10 years of its release...if you want to see a movie that Scream ripped off, go rent "April Fool's Day" (a much better flick) honestly I couldnt care less, i'll probably end up seeing it...but its really not of any consequence as to who dies first or who returns or who dies at all...its the final part in the trilogy (yeah right!) so kill em all for all I care...bring back Sarah Michelle Gheller, she was cool!! --mck

Fuck you all, Randy cocksuckers......die bastards!!!!!!!!!

    by geekboy

Scream 1 was amazing, superb, definitely the best horror of the '90s and while Scream 2 was nowhere as good it still kicked butt. Killing Randy was an amazing move, really shocking. It maintained the originality of the films - You Randy cocksuckers didn't expect that one!!! As for Sceam 3 it will be a good film. Not excellent, not amazing just good. A don't give a flying fuck who stars or who gets killed but i trust Williamson and Craven to make a good film. If nothing else it will definitely be the most fun films of the year and at the end of the day isn't that what films are all about - ENTERTAINMENT!!!!

    Aw............Quit yer bitchin'

    by robinp

    What the hell is this..........?
Everybody's busy bitching, whining and whingeing that Randy died in the second.

So........he slipped up and forgot the basic rule by which all the Hodder Fodder in the F13 films die........don't go and hide in or near the only place in sight which the killer probably is !

Apart from that........the guy's dead........jeez, get used to it !
He was only a fictional secondary character anyway !

More important matters abound...Stone Cold in the third !!!!

    Scream 3 "actresses"

    by w. leach

Mercifully, the names Rebecca Romijn-Stamos and Jenny McCarthy were just rumors. Granted, the SCREAM films aren't noted for brilliant acting, but my CAT could outact these two. As for people still crying about Randy: GET OVER IT!! As I've said before, his death was the most creative, original part of the sucky sequel. I'm GLAD the little dork is dead. I didn't like him in the first one, either.

    "Scream" is a "Yawn"

    by thunderball

I realize I'm in the minority in saying this but Kevin Williamson is the most over-rated hack in Hollywood today. I love horror films and I'm lost on all the praise the "Scream" series has amassed. They may not suck but they're average at best and are certainly not one of Wes Craven's better efforts. Even worse are the "I Know What You Did..." movies. They both suck, especially filmdoms stupidest villain, an unbeatable Mrs. Paul's employee. And (sorry Harry) let's not even talk about "The Faculty." The next "Scream" film is going to tank big time.

Randy is who makes the Scream movies worth watching.

    by dark jester

However, for reasons unknown, the creators of Scream 2 decided to kill off Randy; the coolest person in any of the Scream movies. The killing of Randy is what ruined Scream 2 for me. When Randy died, I felt like walking out. They should have killed Sydney instead, nobody I know cares about that spoiled, whiny bitch.

I will probably not be seeing Scream 3 because, frankly, with Randy gone, the Scream series holds no interest for me anymore.
Unless Sydney bites it, she has outlived too many interesting, more likable characters.

    Hamadryad's idiotic comment

    by matrix69

Noooooo, Hamadryad... Harry Knowles writing doesn't *have* any style first of all, so how can his style make up for all the myriad grammar and spelling mistakes? Perhaps if you knew how to *speak* English you would realize this. Also, on a somewhat unrelated topic, what is the big fad with everyone saying "suck ass" (eg, "Scream 3 is gonna suck ass!") Give me a fucking break.

    Scream 3

    by contacted

Stop whining about Randy. Killing him was one of the best parts of Scream. It was so shocking and had a deep impact. Any movie that can inspire all this intense emotion is a masterpeice and cool as hell. But... It's over now, there's much more fun in the series you can have without Randy.
Scream 3 is gonna rock. I have extremely high expectations and Williamson and Kruger better not let me down. I'm trusting Wes Craven.
