    Up Chuck!

    by spidermonkee

Here's what I don't get. AICN regularly covers the piece of junk that is Chuck, but over the course of it's entire run, I have never even seen them acknowledge the existence of a little sci-fi gem called Supernatural. Now there's a show that has gotten exponentially better with each passing season, growing from a mildly entertaining series into a truly awesome one, and yet, if you only got your info from Harry and co., you wouldn't even know it existed. What's up with that? Where's our Supernatural talkback?

Notes on the CHUCK episode (spoilers)

    by greggers

    1. Casey should have been made assistant manager. In fact, I think they missed the boat when they didn't have him discover that retail (rather than superspying) was his real talent and passion.

    2. So much of the beginning was spent on exposition for new viewers that it seemed like the characters *regressed* from last season. I thought the relationship between Chuck and Sarah had accumulated too much baggage for them to suddenly go on a date like that.

    3. I think that may have been the best non-mentally challenged death row inmate performance that I've ever seen Michael Clark Duncan deliver. Not nearly as awkward as I've gotten used to; in fact, he pulled off the Whedonesque dialogue quite well.

    3. Not only is Yvonne Strahovski still ridiculously hot, after hearing her on the Adam Carolla Show speaking in her natural Austrailian voice, I think she deserves the 2008 Jamie Bamber Award for Best Reproduction of an American Accent by a non-American. She could give Hugh Laurie lessons.

    4. Asian girl at Buy More is still hot too.

    5. Unfortunately, I think Chuck's sister and her boyfriend are about as necessary to this show as Barney Miller's family was on his. That is, not very.

    6. But really, I think this show is taking a comic book approach to growth -- that is, throughout the episodes, we get the *illusion of growth*, but overall the characters will remain static: Chuck will always show hidden potential, Sarah will always display some sort of teetering, wistful affection
for him, Casey will be a hard ass with just a hint of heart of gold, etc. I enjoy the show, but I can't help feeling a nagging disatisfaction with it, like it's not living up to its potential.

Still though, good times. I'll be tuning in again this season.

    Chuck's sister is hot

    by newc0253

but i agree her plotlines are usually rubbish. it's always something about making Chuck feel grounded, but they never seem genuine.

she's plenty easy on the eyes though.

    Chuck

    by nudeandaroused

Is mindless fun entertainment. That is what the show is about. Yes, there is some seriousness, but the point is pure fun escapism. That is its potential. I am sure that the show will run out of gas sometime. For now, considering the chaos that is going on, "Chuck" is the right show at the right time.

Chuck & Life - Welcom Back

    by leftfoot

I thought I'd read that Life had been canceled. Guess it was just a writer's strike move. Unique show and appealing.
I wonder if there is any chance that Hellboy will put in appearance? At least jokes or some funny references.....

    No Supernatural Talkback...

    by kid z

...because Harry doesn;t like the show, probably. You run your own website, you pick what's covered... fact of life. I love Supernatural... fun show, even if it's sort of the redneck version of Reaper with less outright comedy. Say... when's Reaper coming back, anyway?

Reaper is not on the Fall schedule

    by napoleon park

but it will return mid-season - probably January or February. Also surprised AICN hasn't upgraded Fringe to hit cult weekly talkback status. Best new show.I do live in America and love Hulu - I've watched the entire runs of The Loop and Dilbert, a few Addams Family and Lost In Space episodes, some NewsRadio. I watched the Fringe pilot again, and I caught Heroes after sleeping through the third hour of the Monday premiere. I've seen a few new shows before they've aired and plan to catch Chuck when I get back from some errands. Comcast's Playcast has a similar service with a lit of the same material, but Hulu's the one I've been using so far. Sorry, Canadians, but it rocks. If it's any consolation, though, seeing the same exact commercial every ten minutes, sometimes on several consecutive shows, does sorta blow. sometimes you get a show commercial free is you click to watch a movie trailer first, though. That's usually double cool.

Supernatural the redneck version of Reaper? Nah. For one thing, Supernatural was around a couple years before Reaper. I've always thought of Supernatural as the redneck version of Angel. Except that Supernatural has the balls recognize that acknowledging the existence of vampires, hell, and demons should also imply the flipside of the coin; i.e. heaven and angels. I'm an aethiest, but even I don't get why Joss was so afraid of god. PTB was a cop out.

Why'd they have to put Life in the Death Slot?

    by polyh3dron

Friday at 10pm? SRSLY NBC? Life was the 2nd best show on NBC last year (1st being Journeyman) and now you're sending it out to die. All I know is, if you're planning on cancelling it after this season you had better let the writers know way in advance (like now) so that they can end it correctly.

    Loving Life

    by kenjinattix

Life is probably taking the place of Heroes in my favorite NBC shows lineup. Heroes is actually like marvel comics where people die...then they come back like nothing ever happened...no one ever stays dead. And like marvel they give people to much power to their characters making them seemingly unbeatable. You technical can't beat Sylar now. The show has failed me. Life is now my cult favorite show.

Fringe - an edgy sci-fi drama or...

reality TV show about hairdressers. You be the judge.

But seriously, Fringe is ok. It's not edgy or new, but what is these days. John Noble is a reason to watch. Just hope the stories don't become too silly too soon.
