THE CW EXTENDS TRIP TO THE ZIP, GIVING “90210” A FULL-SEASON PICKUP
September 22, 2008 (Burbank, CA) ─ The CW’s drama “90210,” quickly becoming one of the most popular series among young women, has been picked up for a full season of episodes, it was announced today by Dawn Ostroff, President, Entertainment, The CW.
“The successful addition of ‘90210’ has taken The CW another step forward in building a cohesive schedule that defines this network as a destination for young women with shows that get our audience talking -- and watching,” said Ostroff. “We’re very excited about the chance to watch this ensemble of newcomers and familiar faces coalesce and grow together as we move forward.”
The two-hour debut of “90210” shattered ratings records for The CW Network, becoming the highest-rated series premiere in the network’s history with women 18-34 (4.5/12), adults 18-34 (3.1/9) and adults 18-49 (2.6/7). The “90210” series opener led The CW to become Tuesday’s #1 network in all key demographics. With a double airing of the “90210” premiere during the opening week (Tuesday and Thursday), 12.7 million viewers watched all or part of The CW’s highly anticipated new series. Facing increased competition, the most recent telecast of 90210 scored week-to-week gains in target demos, including 6% in women 18-34 (3.3/10), 14% in adults 18-34 (2.4/7) and 3% in total viewers (3.3mil). In addition, the series debut of “90210” added over a third more viewers in target demographics with Live-Plus Seven Day DVR viewing included.
“90210” stars Rob Estes, Shenae Grimes, Tristan Wilds, AnnaLynne McCord, Dustin Milligan, Ryan Eggold, Jessica Stroup, Michael Steger, Lori Loughlin and Jessica Walter, with special appearances by Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty. The show is produced by CBS Paramount Network Television with executive producers Gabe Sachs & Jeff Judah (“Freaks & Geeks”) and new-to-the-series Rebecca Kirschner (“Gilmore Girls”).

Rand Kirshner deserves better than to helm that dreck.

sue me! it is a glossy, sugar coated diversion from life's horrible realities that distract me enough to make me grin stupidly whilst looking at super hot chicks. granted, it doesn't have the cheesy charm of the original, which i am currently reliving via season one on dvd, but i don't mind it. not at all. good news about the buffy scribe joining the behind the scenes talent. nowhere to go but up!

I feel anorexic just looking at them.

Loved that Kelly was the Bitch and Brenda wasn't. Just like the previous show. Brenda got a bad rep because of Shannon. Her character was one of the nicest on the show. Good to see the writers stick with continuity. Kelly had to fight with EVERY CHICK THAT CAME ON. They tried to make her the victim and nice, but she never really was anything less than a sont. LONG LIVE BRENDA WALSH!

Boring show! Just like when they brought back Degrassi with TNG, and brought along Snake, Joey, Spike, etc... Either bring back the whole bunch from the previous show or forget them, don't nother dropping in little dabs of Kelly here, and Brenda there, and Nat (man he looks old).. At least Degrassi had the smarts to at first balance the new and old characters, before the old were pushed out after a while...

I weep for the future of our nation...

Is for the old characters...including Silver (AKA Erin). I really don't care for the new family.

More like 9021-Ho! Amirite or amirite?

Maybe there will be a Dylan sighting for show? I think he is on a CSI ripoff show now right? It's funny that the actors are on other shows when 90210 airs. Brian A Green who is banging that TF chick Megan Fox is on Terminator right now. I wonder if there are other sightings? Is or was Ian Z on dancing with Stars? It's just a 90210 world.

My complaint is that Rob Estes who plays the principal was on Melrose Place which was a spinoff of the original 90210! Couldn't they get a different actor? I hate it when an actor plays a different role in the same universe. Unless it's a parallel universe. Then it's cool. ;)
