People in general don't feel obligated to say anything. Those that do feel obligated to approach a soldier genuinely feel grateful for the sacrifice. Its wrong to equate an offer of gratitude with a "How ya doin'?" or "How about this weather?"

I thought that said Neil HAMburger!!!That guy is hysterical!!

The Kingdom was set in Saudi Arabia, not Iraq. As in, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Hell, it's right there in the title. Contrary to popular believe the "Middle East" is not just one big homogeneous desert area.
Sept. 22, 2008, 2:47 p.m. CST
The Kingdom is not just an action film that happens to be set in Iraq. You really lost me there Capone. It is about much more than that and is a really good movie that has a lot of interesting things to say. I could give you examples, but if you didn't get anything else from The Kingdom other than it's an action movie set in Iraq I just don't now where to begin. The Kingdom was one of the best moives of 2007, it had brains and balls and was much better than some of this propaganda crap coming out.
Sept. 22, 2008, 2:51 p.m. CST
dammit, I forgot that The Kingdom was set in Saudi Arabia. I really knew that, but was so upset to see capone totally miss the point with that movie.

is not the best since I am from Norway. I never post here but there has got to be others who got what Matthew Michael Carnahan, Peter Berg and Michael Mann was saying with The Kingdom. I think it was a very smart and entertaining movie.

The Lucky Ones went over like a fart in church. In fact, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a single positive review.

Did a double take on that!

when you put pennies in the asses of the five members of Smash Mouth? Nickelback! I just saw Neil in milwaukee on 9/11. It was fucking great. Real nice guy when he's not on stage.

I agree 100% that The Kingdom was great. Have you recently seen Traitor? I thought that was an excellent one as well.
Sept. 23, 2008, 2:41 a.m. CST
Traitor looks good but it has not opened here in Norway yet.I will see it when it does. The Kingdom among other things was about how different cultures can work together if we are willing to try a little bit harder to respect and understand each other, and that in many ways we most humans have a lot in common. Communication is key was one of the thing the movie was trying to say. I also liked the "kill em all" angle. This made that point that things will never get better because we can't seem to get past this notion of revenge. I think The Kingdom made som interesting points apart from being very entertaining and well made. It also didn't force it's points down out throats.

If these movies weren't out there, people would be saying, "Where's Hollywood in this debate? Hollywood has gone AWOL!" No. No one would be saying that. Just another insider without a clue, over estimating the power of Hollywood. Also, there's nothing wrong with a genuine "thank you" to the troops (how could there be?) and The Kingdom was set in the kingdom (Saudi Arabia) and actually held an intelligent, non-partisan view of war and relations in the middle east. And was an entertaining action movie to boot.

Shit, she can fuck me up. I'd pay.
Sept. 23, 2008, 2:28 p.m. CST
really like, it's a Hollywood dickhead, and an idiotic AICN writer. You guys really know what makes the American fighter tick!
Sept. 23, 2008, 7:58 p.m. CST
I'm sure you're a cool dude, Capone, but learn to proof your articles. You're getting paid to do this after all; take it seriously.
Sept. 24, 2008, 2:40 a.m. CST
glad to se it get som support here. Capone clearly didn't get that one, and didn't sound to bright in his simplistic view on the film.
Sept. 24, 2008, 9:30 p.m. CST
Trust me. They do.
