Vaughn & Favreau Reteam For COUPLES RETREAT!!

Published at:  Sep 19, 2008 3:12:05 AM CDT

I am – Hercules!!

Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau – a modern Hope & Crosby with collaborations spanning “Swingers,” “Made” and “The Break-Up” – are teaming onscreen yet again for Universal's “Couples Therapy.”

Favreau’s longtime producing partner Peter Billingsley (who played Ralphie in “A Christmas Story” before he went on to oversee “Iron Man”) makes his first-unit feature directorial debut from a screenplay by Favreau, whose prior scripting credits include “Swingers” and “Made.”

Longtime Favreau associates Jason Bateman (“The Break-Up,” “Hancock”) and Faizon Love ("Made," "Elf," "Who's Your Caddy?") co-star.

As he did with "The Break-Up," Vaughn produces and provided the premise:

Story follows four couples who go to a tropical island resort. While one couple is there to work on their marriage, the others are there to play but soon discover that participation in the resort’s couples therapy is not optional.

    HBO's Real Sex

    by horace cox

If this is anything like those crazy fucking couples' retreats they used to show on Real Sex it could be hilarious. Of course, it would be damn hard to top the sheer fascination and ridiculousness of the real thing, but it could serve as an interesting blueprint.

And by the way... You ever notice on that show that there was always one couple that was hotter than two rats fucking in a wool sock and the rest of them were people you absolutely did not want to see naked? The good looking couple was probably a plant to keep people from changing the channel.

Not that groups of adults jumping around in a nude trancelike state flinging mud at each other or shitting on each other and speaking in tongues wasn't semi-intesting in its own right.

    The Break-Up??

    by newc0253

That had Vaughn and Favreau in it, but it wasn't written or directed by Favreau which kinda puts it in different company than Swingers or Made, no?

p.s. Made was good. Not as great as Swingers, for sure, but definitely funny.

If there's one thing I bet Peter Billingsley never tires of...

    by thick mcrunfast

...it's hearing the phrase "who played Ralphie in 'A Christmas Story'" after his name, over and over and over again. Kudos, Herc.

    Made

    by silentjay

Is one of my top fives. The way Vaughn's character is trying so hard to be every mob movie stereotype is genius. It's actually a very good crime movie where the comedy is more tragic than comedic. In the end, they're "Made" because they get out and do the right thing. Drama aside, Favs and Vaughn are just effing great. Very under-rated flick.

I'm sure Billingsly doesn't mind so much...

    by obsd

now that he's rolling in all that Iron Man money. People could say anything they wanted and call me anything they wanted if I made that kind of loot.

Billingsley seems well-adjusted for a child actor

    by chrth

At least he didn't do pornos like Flick. So he's probably cool with it.

    Made IS a gem

    by doctorwho?

I agree.I avoided that movie for a while thinking it was maybe nothing special...perhaps I heard something...but I was really impressed with it.
The way the tension was racheted up while still being funny was great. Vaughns character was maddening...I kept waiting for Favs to take him out. The outakes were a prize too.

    A BIG STUDIO COMEDY!!

I like these guys a lot. I want to see them do well. But I'd also love to see Trent and Mike approaching 40 in Swingers 2.
