BRICK and BROTHERS BLOOM Director Rian Johnson Takes On Time Travel!!

Published at:  Sep 16, 2008 11:46:48 PM CDT

Merrick here...

Rian Johnson, director of BRICK and the soon-to-release THE BROTHERS BLOOM (trailer HERE), is going sci-fi.

It's LOOPER (not to be confused with JUMPER, which itself should not be confused with about 12 other films that have" JUMPER" in their title...including a possible JUMPER 2, which is also said to involve time manipulation as well as teleportation - or whatever it was). As with BROTHERS, Johnson will script as well as direct.

"Looper" is set in a present-day world in which a group of hitmen are sent their victims from the future.

...says THIS ARTICLE in Hollywood Reporter.

I love Rachael Weisz's entrance in THE BROTHERS BLOOM trailer. Seems like something that would happen to me...

"Brick" was good enough that I would trust this guy with this plot.

Why not just send them back to the Jurrasic Period.

    by andre the frog

And let them feed the dinosaurs.

So then 'Looper' could be the production code name for Jurassic Park IV.

But if they succeeded it wouldn't affect your future it would create an alternate future on a different timeline. So if you were doing the sending, you wouldn't be able to feel the effects of success or failure.

    The Brothers Bloom is hilarious.

Rian Johnson will be around a long time if he keeps making such unique choices... Saw Brothers Bloom at the TIFF World Premiere. Sat 4 seats away from the actors... very surreal. But anyways, this sounds like an exciting idea for a film. And Merrick, the Weisz entrance, and all the scenes that involve yellow cars, are awesome.

As a fan of noir I loved what he did with that film, and the casting was spot on...def curious what his career is going to look like.

If I had a time machine...

    by kid z

...I'd spend all my time traveling back in time to f**k up and eliminate every time travel movie that was ever made. That and Superman Returns. And X-Men: The Last Stand. And Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls. And of course, "the Prequels"!
