Got, Like, Tons Of Extra Money Sitting Around?? Then Fight Cancer And Be In IRON MAN 2!!

Published at:  Sep 08, 2008 11:15:40 AM CDT

Merrick here...

As part of the Stand Up To Cancer movement (HERE), an ebay auction is underway which'll deluge its winner with all kinds of IRON MAN 2 coolness...including some level of walk-on/extra appearance in the film.

You and your guest will enjoy:

A visit to the set of Iron Man 2 (one shooting day)

Location of visit will be determined by Marvel based on scheduling of visit

A meet and greet with the cast

A walk-on/ extra role in the film for the auction winner

Role and length of screen time to be determined by Marvel

Photo tour of the set with an Iron Man unit photographer to document the tour. Professional photos will be given to the winner of the experience.

Tickets to the Los Angeles premiere for you and a guest

Winner and Guest will walk the premiere’s red carpet

...offers the auction, which can be found...

HERE!!!

As this article is published, the bidding is at $5,100 - firmly placing it $4,975 beyond my bank account's current balance.

I think this is a pretty cool undertaking, myself. My father died of cancer, over a long and tortuous decade, so I really appreciate efforts like this.

    So this means

    by wants vaders executor

that Iron Man 2 is officially going to be made?

On a side note, this chance to spend money, combining a "cause" and film geek stuff, is way more appropriate than Harrys Superman House bullshit.

    absolutly Wants Vaders Executor

As an architect I totally understand the historical value of a building, but saving "Superman's house" is just too trivial compared to causes like cancer. I mean, if they were going to make a comic book museum in the place I would get it. But I hear thats not the plan. Plus it's realy not up to the people to save it but the government of Cleveland or DC Comics. Back to the subject matter I completly understand you Merrick, my mom passes away last march after a long fight just like your dad.

    * Cast at meet and greet based on availability
    * Seat location during premiere screening will be determined at Marvel’s discretion
    * If experience cannot be fulfilled, Marvel will provide alternative set visits/premieres based on Marvel’s availability
    * Travel and accommodations not included
    * No personal cameras, cellular telephones or recording devices permitted at the set visit
    * Role and length of screen time to be determined by Marvel, and there can be no assurance that the role will appear in the final version of the film

    good idea, but

    by mrbong

it's gonna end up being some rich kid who probably could have "bought" some screen time anyway. what would have been a better idea, and better PR, would be to run a contest to find the most worthy person involved in fighting cancer. like some activist helping people quit smoking, or someone who works voluntarily with cancer patients. it's great that they are raising so much money this way, don't get me wrong, but it overlooks that humanity and education are equally powerful weapons in the battle.

Seriously who wants to see that? Hopefully this time they'll have a bad guy. And War Machine will be cool and not too pussified by the Air Force.

    They should cast me anyway

    by abominable snowcone

as a stunt double, because I'm Downey's doppleganger. I wrote Favreau prior to the making of IM1 and offered my services, but I never heard back. I even said they could kick the shit out of me. My offer is still on the table for IM2.

    by abominable snowcone

    which will be filmed together.
They must use another Suicidal Tendencies song in IM2. Maybe "Fascist Pig" or something else from the eponymous debut.

So, it's just like the Spidey 4 auction?

    by big jim

I'd be worried that, after all that money, the prize wouldn't be available and would be substituted for a set visit and premiere invitation to "The Hotty & The Notty 2: Hottier & Nottier".

    Will Smith as Isaiah Bradley?

    by palooka_boy

The black Captain America? Because the military always tests dangerous new serums on the black soldiers first? That could be fun. And distracting from Captain America. Look, I'm not one of those guys who gets up in arms about changing the race of a classic character...but making Will Smith Captain America? No. No no no. No no no no no no no no no no no no. No..........no.
