Published at:  Sep 05, 2008 1:14:45 AM CDT

I am – Hercules!!

In addition to his animated midseason Fox series “Sit Down, Shut Up,” “Arrested Development” creator Mitch Hurwitz is developing a CBS pilot likely to star Jason Biggs, the fellow who nearly a decade ago played the lead in “American Pie.”

Friday morning’s Hollywood Reporter describes the premise:

The comedy revolves around adult siblings and their parents who are over-involved in one another's lives.

    Biggs

    by bigbadbua

Doesn't seem like the guy to carry a sitcom. Seems like he's better in 2 hour doses every year or so in films, not every week.

    Michael Cera On AD Movie:

    by errockk

"I don't think I would want to see a movie of the series if I was a fan, anyway... And I don't really see a need for it if you can get the three seasons on DVD."

If it doesn't have a laugh track....

    by mo_green

It could be could. Sadly, CBS viewers don't know when to laugh unless you inset the sound of other people laughing into the show. I can't wait until everyone who watched TV in the '70s is dead so we don't need laugh tracks anymore...

CBS will prune all the right-on-the-edge-of-propreity

    by greyspecter

out of Hurwitz's humor. When's the last time they had a funny show? the 60s?

    AD did have closure

    by inwosuxred

a movie would be starting something new, and would be forced to wrap it all up in the movie. If they made one, I would see it, but I don't want them to just make a movie because some people want them to.

    Is that not...

    by johnspartan

...the pitch for AD regurgitated? I'm truly concerned that AD was lightning in a bottle and Hurwitz is just going to recycle and idea that, while brilliant, ultimately couldn't sustain itself in the mass market. On a side note, just last week I was wondering when Jason Biggs was gonna show up again. Lo and behold: a new movie and a new series. Either I'm psychic or he's given us just enough time to forgive him for everything he did ten years ago.

Michael Cera is a fucking tool, worst part of AD

    by thewaqman

I mean worst thing to come out of AD. I hate how he's coming in all of these movies when he just plays the same boring shit over and over again.

I want an AD movie. And this sitcom sounds alarmingly like another Arrested Development, but with Jason Biggs I have doubts.

    by gilkuliehe

Come on, neither Woody Allen nor Kevin Smith made the pie fucker funny, and I happen to think those two are pretty capable when it comes to laughs. In conclusion, Jason Biggs is not, and will never be, FUNNY. The end.

You better just be calling me an idiot randomly! Because if you disagree with the fact that Michael Cera fucking stinks at acting then you are the real idiot.

Yeah lets play the same character over and over and over again. Can't tell the difference in ANY of his movies so far, he just ran with his AD role.

I don't mind actors that "play themselves"

    by inwosuxred

in every role, as long as they're good. So far, I've liked Cera playing the same guy, and would take that character over most of what passes for films these days. He is also obviously correct that the finale of AD had closure.

Not being able to act and playing the same role

    by myspoonistoobig

Aren't the same thing. I have no doubt, NO DOUBT that the projects he's been in, as mediocre as all of them but Superbad may be, are far and away the best projects he's been offered since AD. Sure, he and you may both want to see him branch out, but that's the antithesis of Hollywood.

As much as I love to see Hurwitz writing...

    by danielkurland

I fear this will inevitably wear him too thin and both shows could suffer in the end. It will of course also take time away from that Arrested Development movie script happening.
