NBC is so excited about the first six episodes of Josh Schwartz’ second season of “Chuck,” it just decided to expand that second season from 13 to 22 episodes. The second season doesn’t begin airing until Sept. 29. A network will typically wait till the ratings come in before ordering a “back nine,” but NBC is apparently convinced “Chuck” is among the least likely to falter this season. NBC series not yet granted a back-nine order include “Knight Rider,” “My Own Worst Enemy,” “Life,” “Lipstick Jungle” and “Kath & Kim.” Find all of Variety’s story on the matter here.
