ScoreKeeper Wants To Give You A Copy Of THE DARK KNIGHT Score CD!! Deadline Saturday Night, August 30, 11:59 PM EST!!

Published at:  Aug 27, 2008 9:22:25 AM CDT

Greetings! ScoreKeeper here presenting a modest-yet-attractive contest/giveaway for both film music enthusiasts and fans of THE DARK KNIGHT, which... Last I heard...made some money this Summer.

I’ve got five copies of the original motion picture soundtrack of THE DARK KNIGHT, featuring music by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard. They’re not autographed or anything, so the entrance requirements will be simple.

What do you have to do?

Drop me an email at scorekeeper@aintitcool.com with the subject DARK KNIGHT CD GIVEAWAY. Include your name, mailing address, a valid email address, your favorite Hans Zimmer score and your favorite James Newton Howard score.

All entries will be put into a drawing and five winners will be randomly picked. If your favorite Zimmer score and favorite Newton Howard score both match my two favorites then you’ll automatically win a CD and bypass the drawing.

The deadline will be this Saturday night, August 30th, at 11:59PM EST. The winners will be drawn on Sunday, the 31st, and announced by Monday, September 1st. Only one entry per person please. Any duplicate entries will be discarded.

For more information on the score for THE DARK KNIGHT and its soundtrack release, check out http://www.thedarkknightscore.com/.

If you don’t yet own THE DARK KNIGHT on CD, take a shot and see what happens. After all…why so serious?

    Zimmer and Howard

    by kwisatzhaderach

really have some amazing scores on their CV's, i'd forgotten how much good stuff - The Rock, The Thin Red Line and Gladiator for Zimmer, Wyatt Earp, Waterworld, The Fugitive for Howard.

    Already Have it

    by vadakinx

Not much point in me entering. Now if it was a complete recording rather than cherry-picked "songs", that would be a different story.

So good luck to those who enter.

Sure. Go for it. I may regret this later but for now I'm the agent of chaos so let's see.

    Spidey 3

    by scorekeeper

Never stop waiting. It may be a while but one has to think eventually it will. It'll probably get released as a limited edition title down the road. Keep up hope, just don't count on the studio releasing it.

    Pretty good

    by maxer

Definitely better than Batman Begins, or any of Elfman's Batman, to be honest.

The Batman theme, the love/Rachel theme, and the Joker theme all do exactly what they need to do, and I can't stop listening.

    I enjoyed the TDK score...

...but when is Nolan going to have the balls to insist that the studio allow him to hire David Julyan as he has on all his other films?

    Backdraft and Crimson Tide

    by rockmsockm

Backdraft and Crimson Tide are Zimmer's best, IMO. Add Gladiator to round it out to three... Honestly, Crimson Tide was one of the few soundtracks since Star Wars/Indy that I listened to over and over.

    And for Howard, Fugitive

    by rockmsockm

I think that's one of his best, if not his best.

    ScoreKeeper, quick question for you...

    by qweruiop

...it'd be great to hear any information on this. Why is it that some movies don't bother releasing a score soundtrack, when in all consideration the score is already done, packaged within the movie, and all it needs is to be edited and transferred onto a CD. In other words the product is already made, it was already figured in with the movie and its budget, so it's not like the studio has to pay to produce a whole new album of stuff. All it would take is some quick transfer onto a CD. Perfect example is that above-mentioned Spiderman 3 score. Another example is the score for Silent Hill. It just seems so easy to get these scores out. Anyways if you have any info on why some studios don't bother doing this it'd be great to hear. Keep up with the great AICN articles ScoreKeeper.

Already have this but brilliant score

    by theycallmemrglass

I could still enter just for the sake of "winning" it plus it would be from America (I'm a Brit). Only thing is I would be probably lying if my favourite scores were the same as Scorekeeper. I love all of Howard scores for Shyamalan movies (except Happening, havent seen or bought that cd yet). My favourite would be Sixth Sense, though Signs is the most radical. Zimmer, for me it has to be The Rock hands down although Gladiator is admittedly the more accomplished. But what a great collaboration mix for the Dark Knight, though I didnt really care much for their Batman Begins probably because it lacked any punctuating themes. OK, I'll enter this compo!
