wow i actually got first. anyway yeah it's really ashamed the studios got affraid to take a chance on this. Peter Jackson could not do wrong with this material. and Neil Blomphkamp (watever his last name is) kinda had an interesting style shown with those promos that lead to halo 3.

I don't understand why people keep making this mistake. The movie is dead. It was a project in early stages - shit like this concept being thrown around, those proof of concept mini-film vids Blomkamp and Weta made that we've all seen. Financing fell through for various reasons. It died on the slate. This concept art is leaking out only now. It won't hit theaters because it isn't being made. You may as well talk about not seeing Ghostbusters 3. They had concepts for that too.It's possible a new project will start in the future. In fact you'd have to say probable, looking at the state of Hollywood right now. But not for some time owing to the mess of the last attempt. And by then there'll probably be a new game franchise du jour with better prospect of sucking in punters.

no word it's getting made. I'm aware it's meant to be a 'new project' but I don't call some guys throwing pictures around and precisely zero interest from Hollywood a real movie effort. I call that a fan project. So I bundle this in with the other one to legitimise it. Let's not pretend at this point so soon after the last one that studio bods would forget all about the peter jackson attempt, treat it in isolation and all change their minds. The idea is dead. I also don't understand the point. The pics aren't even that great. You can see they've just been rendered in some 3D program, the detail is low and the colours are always muted. Far better and they weren't even trying to interest studios.

The Book was actually damn good and really explored the origins of the Spartans and how they were picked. I still don't understand how this is being made when the first film by Blomkampf/Jackson couldn't get off the ground.
Secondly, how do we know all this concept art isn't just cutscenes from the real-time rpg Halo Wrs game do out soon. These shots look more and more like CGI screen grabs than concept art, and once where I though different, I must say now WTF? -
I just don't give a fuck about this. If they're going to go to all the trouble of greenlighting and financing a Halo project, why wouldn't they just do "Halo"? Weta already had a *shitload* of the pre-production done on the project, and their stuff looked amazing. The director clearly had the right vision for the movie, and the script was supposed to be phenomenal. This is a goddamned waste of time. They're basically going to do a half-assed "DOOM" version of Halo, with no budget, no talent, and no fucking point.

He wanted it to be more on the other characters? And Master Cheif wouldnt be in it or barely from what I understood? Nononono. However, Jackson can make a pile of mushrooming shit look like a halmark. So I shall never doubt this cinematic god. I dont even like Halo. But I appreciate the story and so forth. Just waiting for Gears Of War!!!

AICN keeps publishing this rubbish. Someone above said it's really good Fan Art. I'm afraid they're wrong, it's fan art and it's crap. I agree it's more like screengrabs of the game which also looks like crap. Bring on Killzone2..!!!

This may be the single worst piece of "concept art" I have ever seen. It is so amateurish. This is what happens when "artists" don't think it is important to learn how to draw, all they have to do is learn 3D. They Develop absolutely no sense of composition and their images are completely lifeless and have no energy. Once again, yay for CGI, now EVERYBODY is an artist, weeeeee.

The concept art isn't really all that great... I mean, they may have put effort into it, but all it looks like are models from the game, posed in maya and a render is made. Also, a lot of the shots, particualrily the one with Master Chief "Flying" are really... uninteresting. While I think the Halo universe could make a good movie, the Latino Review is making a lot of a fuss over some... basically... fanboy/machima looking screen grabs.
Besides, the "concept art" pieces don't really look like they follow any logical film based screenspace, and are either very uninteresting, or have too much stuff going on without focus or energy. THe concept artwork for the games looked better than this. -

I am a concept artist and have seen way too many folk throwing together some cg model and calling it art. To everyone looking for some of the best concept art ever, check out Ralph McQuarrie. Simple, to the point and epic. Not like this Halo crap.

i read the halo script, it was just ok. not worth the pricetag though. IT'S JUST THE DAMN GAME. but i'd prolly see it when it comes out anyway.
btw, how is this concept art? it looks like a reject from halo 3.

but Halo was monotonous, repetitive and boring. Now GTA... Or if you are an especially disturbed specimen, Manhunt. I'll go along with Halflife, too.

who the makes these things? it looks like a six year old drew it and then dad made it into a rendering. Theres no angle or scale, just a Halo man in the middle with a bunch of aliens, the ocean, a sunset, lasers and a spaceship.

I am also a concept artist. I'm really glad to see that you are seeing the same thing I am seeing here. And yes, Ralph McQuarrie is one of the main people I look up to- when I look at his concepts, I think that he had more to do with the mood, the ideas, and basically the whole world of Star Wars than George Lucas. His paintings and drawings are the very foundation of Star Wars. His paintings have the EXACT same spirit as the movies themselves. If there were even ANY more concept artists like Ralph McQuarrie, we may actually see more movies of Star Wars calibur, but in 30 years that has almost completely not happened.
