Hey folks, Harry here! As FANTASTIC FEST nears - even more coolness becomes known! This year's opening night film will take place at the PARAMOUNT THEATER!!! Fabled stage where the Marx Brothers played live to its hallowed halls! Now we'll bring Air Sex and a film with PORNO in the title to join the ghosts of Kathryn Hepburn and those wascally brothers Marx, who performed without their oddest brother, Karl. This film doesn't open till Halloween, but the denizens of FANTASTIC FEST will see it First! Will you be there? You better bet I'll be there! Now - I just have to find a Porno Themed Hawaiian Shirt... anybody have a lead? Email me!
Fantastic Fest is proud to announce its 2008 Opening Night Gala Film,
the U.S. Premiere of Kevin Smith's ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO, screening
at the historic Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas on September 18th.
Director Kevin Smith will be live in person to introduce the screening
and answer questions after the film.
Following the event, attendees are invited to stay and enjoy the
official after-party festivities: the Air Sex World Championships on the
grand stage of the Paramount Theater. Think "air guitar" with a bit
more sizzle.
About the film:
Lifelong platonic friends Zack (Seth Rogen) and Miri (Elizabeth Banks)
look to solve their respective cashflow problems by making an adult film
together. As the cameras roll, however, the duo begin to sense that they
may have more feelings for each other than they previously thought.
Tickets go on sale for the opening night film at noon CST, Saturday,
August 30th and will be available online at FantasticFest.Com, by
phone at 1-866-4GET-TIX or at the Paramount Theater Box Office in
Austin, Texas. Admission to this show is included for Fantastic Fest
badge holders.
Zack and Miri Make a Porno opens in theaters everywhere on October 31.

director and head programmer is Tim League (Alamo Drafthouse Cinema),
with additional programming by Harry Knowles (Ain't It Cool News), Todd
Brown (Twitchfilm.net), Blake Ethridge (Cinema is Dope), Zack Carlson
(Alamo Drafthouse Cinema) and Lars Nilsen (Alamo Drafthouse Cinema).

To Clarify -
If you have a FANTASTIC FEST VIP BADGE or Festival Pass - you do not need to purchase a "special ticket" for this - You are already in - and have seats. HOWEVER... ANYBODY - can buy seats for this event - whether or not they have Fantastic Fest Badges or Passes. The benefit of having this at the PARAMOUNT - is the possibility of having 1200 people in a single showing - which affords many more of you to get in. Once again - if you have a Fantastic Fest Badge or Pass - you are already in for this event. If you don't - then you need to buy tickets to attend. There Should Be Several Hundred Available as of this posting. Easy enough?

It's the opening night film. So I would assume that you need a badge to get in. But there might be a small chance to get in via a stand by line? Very small chance. -

When all else fails, you should fall back on the tried and true. Another bomb like Jersey Girl (which this new movie is almost surely to follow suit) and that reasonably hot wife of yours is Out The Door. You know it, I know it, so get with the funny, fat-body! I wish you the best of luck.

More's the pity. She does have a filty fucking mouth on her in this flick. If you get off on watching super hot chicks talk really fucking dirty, then this movie will have some nice moments for you.

Whatever your feelings on Smith, I think it's a fairly safe assumption that Seth Rogen’s face on the poster, combined with the title of the film, will get a huge amount of people interested. I'm a huge Kevin Smith fan (SModcast is the best thing on the Internet after porn) so I hope this is a big win for him. As for JERSEY GIRL, I wonder how many people who jump on the bandwagon and bash that film have actually seen it. I've only seen it once, long ago, but I remember it being decent – nothing too memorable, but CERTAINLY not worthy of so much hatred and scorn.

And have no real intention of seeing it. I thought I might, after Carlin died. Sort of see him in a serious role as a tribute kind of thing. But I just popped a few of his concerts on instead.
As a Kevin Smith fan, I just have no desire to see Jersey Girl.
I suppose that says more about the marketing of the film, than anything else.
If you can't even motivate the fan base to see something, you're screwed. -

No way. Totally don't buy it AT ALL. If Smith was just some regular guy working a regular job but with the same personality and fat-body? She wouldn't have given him the time of day. Period. Anyone can fake loving somebody if the money is there. Once its gone? Later!

just forget its a kevin smith film, and consider that its a romantic comedy. you'll probably find its one of the only recently romantic comedies you connect with on any level.

...at least at fantastic fest. my girlfriend's talking pig head movie was rejected from the ff programming, so i have to save up to visit a festival that will screen our film...where ever that may be. sounds fun though.

Why not just PORN? Porno sounds so immature, like "My dad keeps his pornos under his bed, wanna see?". Other than that this sounds like a bad movie.

You're the people who first grossed me out yammering on and on about splooge. Now you've got me going to see an NC17 movie with the word "porno" in the title. What's next?
