Ah, ya gotta love that episode title...as made famous by Brian "Billy Mitchell Worshipper" Kuh in the documentary King of Kong.
-
If I used my eyes, I'd have seen that this fact (at least the name of the film) was already pointed out before the title listing. Comprehensive reading is a skill that I have yet to master.
-
Who wants to bet Vic survives the series end? I wouldn't even want to put money on Shane making it to the last episode! I'd bid on Dutch making it and maybe 1 or 2 of Vic's kids - but thats it! :)
-
... is that it doesn't end on a jump cut to black as some soft-rock shit plays in the back-ground. That would be a bit crap.
-
The Sopranos have already set the bar for series finales about as dirt low as they can possibly be (I'd rather have to watch the idiotic X-Files finale over and over again non-stop for a week then watch the all-time crapfest that was the Sopranos finale again), so this has to be better.
-
Too bad this clip doesn't have all of Brian's "kill screen warnings." But it's the best I could find.

I think that's the first confirmation I've seen that the season will be 13 episodes instead of 10 or 11. I can't fucking wait. Herc, from your "sweet butter" comment, I'll assume you've given the series another try and have caught up to at least season five?
-
i like their music and as for the end of the show i think vic will
go out in a blaze of glory -
WHICH ending of the Sopranos??!!!
Joking. -
If i had to put legit money on anything its that Vic's going to die. After all the shit that he and his crew has pulled the price will be his life. Either that or his family. Shane is definately going to catch a bullet. My perfect scenario would be Shane and Vic in a shootout and they both end up killing each other.
-
Good to see we've got the latest updates ASAP!
What's next, a month from now we get an exclusive about the return of Tavon? -
Take away his job, his friends, and maybe even his family, leaving him nothing left to live for, but you can't have him end up in prison for some scumbag gang bangers to kill. Vic is too proud to go to prison. He'd eat a bullet first. Or just use his connections to disappear to Mexico.
-
If anything, it's going to end rather mundanely, just like Sopranos. There's not going to be any "Blaze of Glory" shootout, no "Locked up for life" courtroom scene. You guys have been watching too much High Noon. Don't you realize by now that the banality of an pseudo-evil existence is what everyone is going for nowadays?
-
You don't wanna be anywhere near him!"
-
But everyone around him that he loves and cares about should suffer because of that. That would be the most appropriate ending for Vic. With all of the dirty, underhanded things he has done in the past seven season to save the strike team and his own ass, in the end the only person he should be able to save is himself.
The last shot of the series should be Vic, with everyone else in the strike team dead or in jail and his family long gone, sitting at a desk in the Barn, staring at his new partner, Dutch. Wondering how it all went wrong. -
I hope The Shield is the first cable show to drop the F-Bomb before midnight (Comedy Central does it after midnight all the time).
-
Yep, that is the ideal ending for The Shield. Or close, anyway. You're right on the part where everyone else is in jail or dead, while his family has left him permanently. I don't think he should even be in the Barn on the front-lines though, not even on a leash like he has been in the past. I think he should be back where he was before Gilroy found him. A low-level Detective doing junk work in Van Nuys. In a suit. Off the streets. With all of his former colleagues _knowing_ he's guilty, but unable to prove it.
-
"A back full of shiv and an ass full of cum" with Antwon Mitchell standing over him with that Anthony Anderson smile
-
I'm always glad to see someone who actually knows what that word means. This show has probably delivered the most consistent quality over the longest period of time of any show I've seen. Even Battlestar Galactica, which I like just as much, have had some duds. Hopefully the last season can close out strong.
-
I predict the following characters will die:
Aceveda
Shane (though it would be kind of cool if he were the ONLY guy who survived)
Either Vic's or Shane's family (probably not both)
The Barn itself (killed by Billings lawsuit and rising crime stats)
Any pets that cross Dutch's path -

Vic is never gonna end up in jail. He knows too much....
Vic and his family end up in some witness protection plan... The last 5 minutes you see him and his family enjoying some family fun at a nice sunny pool. However someone (Aceveda) betrays his location and they all die in the last minute of the show...BLACK OUT...... -

P.S. best show on earth, never a dull moment in all those season

FX should be proud of The Shield. Finish it right. Vic stays alive and out of jail. Out of a job i'm okay with. But if he bites ... not cool.
-
chant it muthafookers~
-
With a family gathering like the original barbeque and ending with a final raid or strike team action that results in someone standing over Vic like he himself did gun pointed and BOOM!
-
I don't really understand why The Wire fanboys get all butt-hurt over The Shield love but for whatever reason, anytime The Shield is mentioned, somebody drags The Wire into the conversation and it's really annoying. Personally, I lost interest in The Wire after the 1st season because I prefer the noir, antihero thematic of The Shield and I really don't understand why the two shows keep getting compared.
-
Overall I like the Shield better, but both are really great shows. They take different approaches to storytelling. The Wire is more of a sprawling story about many different characters in a city, and the Shield is a more intimate story about a narrower group of characters (especially in the later seasons as the Strike Team became the primary focus and everyone else was put in the background). There's room for love of both.
And I think that everyone can agree on one thing: both shows are better than CSI. -
1. Shane will die saving Vic or Vic's family.
2. The noose will tighten so hard around the Strike Team's throat that Vic will confess and take the fall to keep Ronnie out of prison.
3. Dutch will somehow screw over either Billings' or Aceveda's plans and wind up with the respect he's always craved. Then he'll screw that up somehow in the very end and be right back where he started.
4. Vic loses everything he ever valued. His family, the barn, and his freedom when all he's done comes to light. -
Look, Vic is ultimately a coward who's been screaming "do over" since the original sin of episode 1. He needs an opportunity to man up and pay for that and his other sins (both selfish and well-intentioned ones) with his life.
-
That ending is awesome. Anything less is now going to be disappointing. Or maybe I'll be surprised. Too bad it's ending. This was the best show around. I'll finally start watching the Wire on DVD. Is Shield's final season going to be in HD?
-
if you're going to bandy about the word "pentultimate," at least spell it right. herc, you're guilty of this offense all the time. tsk, tsk.
-
"penultimate" actually IS the correct spelling. my sincerest apologies.
-
it won't be a Sopranos-like ending. I'll trust him to keep his promise and give us something satisfying, or at least a good "holy shit" instead of a bad "holy shit" finale. With that said, I'm gonna bow out of any more Shield discussions and keep my pledge to remain completely spoiler-free so I can savor these last 13 as they unfold.
-
It's good to see that you stopped living in denial and gave The Shield another shot.
-
then I hope your's are not. Bravo. And extra nice touch with Vic & Dutch winding up as partners. Vic's already in Hell and that's just twisting the knife.
-
Damn, I'm excited for this final season. It's generally impossible to predict where the show will go, or what side events will smash into larger plot ideas. Remember the former Strike Team member who joined Mackey and the boys, seemed to kind of actually fit in, but then crashed himself into a line of parked cars? I did not see that coming.
So I won't even guess what'll happen this season. It's been one of the best shows (acted, written, shot) ever, and I'll be watching every episode. -
But everyone he loves might. Vic will pay the price for what he's done, there is no question about that. But for Vic, having his team and his family pay the price for his sins is a far worse fate than death.
-
He’s conflicted and he’s a criminal but he’s also, time and time again, shown himself to be willing to perform heroic deeds and save lives, even at severe risk to his own. On more than one occasion he has also made it very clear that he was willing to go down if that meant saving the rest of the team, suggesting that he actually takes his leadership position very seriously. What’s ironic is that Vic’s transformation into a crooked cop was actually facilitated by Aceveda, who hated Vic from day one because he wanted his own people in leadership roles. That flashback episode in season 2 actually confirms that Vic walked the straight ad narrow until, out of desperation to keep his job, he and the Strike Team cut some corners, which had a snowball effect. Personally, I’ve got no real problem with Vic stealing from criminals and busting up thugs. The real sin is the murder of Terry Crowley, though to be fair Terry was a self-serving snitch hired by Aceveda for the expressed purpose of destroying the Strike Team. Vic’s actions, however immoral, were motivated by his unflinching desire to protect himself and his men and he took that murderous responsibility onto himself. To me, that’s what makes The Shield so interesting: if Vic really were an unlikable, cowardly scumbag, the show would have lost steam years ago. However, Vic, despite all his transgressions, has an overt amount of honor and integrity within him, as well as a sense of justice. He’s done many, many selfless and heroic things, which makes his mistakes and his precarious existence that much more interesting and compelling. Shane is the real coward. He killed his best friend to save his own ass, an ironic twist given Shane’s own actions during the previous season.
-
It's about fucking time Ryan.Anyway I am looking forward to the final season of this excellent series. I may be in the minority on this one, but i highly prefer this over the Wire.Predictions: Shane will eventually get killed off, and Vic will have to atone for his past. IE sent up the river.Dutch may end up being a serial killer (yeah it's a stretch, but there after that scene with the Cat, he's a bit suspect.)hopefully we'll see more of Antwon and Forrest Whitiker reprising his role. All I can say is I hope it's worth the 2 year wait.
-
I like your ending. Maybe Dutch could say something like "you work for me now." A la John Pankow at the end of "To Live and Die in LA".

I love Vic, but they should end with him as a security guard...
by lanemyersclassic
for some housing project who occasionally does "muscle" jobs for less corrupt cops still on the force. You know, like those old guys Vic hated in one of the episodes. I see a spin-off! Although a depressing spin-off.
