See KITT's Crib!! See KITT Morph!!

SciFi.com has a look at (and image of) KITT's hangout/HQ...the "KITT Cave"...from the newly revived KNIGHT RIDER series.
In reality, the lab--situated in an undisclosed location in an unidentified city--is actually an elaborate set at Santa Clarita Studios, just north of Los Angeles. The set represents KITT's multilevel underground hideout.
...says THIS ARTICLE at SciFi, which goes on to reveal that some of the KITT Cave's tech is partially inspired by Microsoft futurists. You can find an image of the set in the write-up as well.
It's likely that anyone watching NBC's Olympics coverage for more than an hour has seen spots for the new series, which also reveal a new (at least I think it's new) "attack" configuration for the vehicle. You can see video of said configuration HERE, where you can also get a look at KITT's enhanced transformative abilities (as in shape-shifting Transformers).
Looks like he can turn into (at least) a truck now. I think it would be fun if they had KITT, at least once, morph into some POS hoopty. After all, if one purpose of his morphing is to avoid detection, why does he only morph into conspicuously high-end vehicles?
The new KNIGHT RIDER premiers Wednesday September 24.

...and I'll say it again. It would have been so much cooler if they would've got an actor that looked like young Hoff and set up a story line where he an (the original model Kitt) were brought into the future to fight crime, complete with Hoff's mullett and leather jacket. That would have been a hilarious show. But no...it's all about product placement.

The morphing is probably included for two reasons, neither of which are plot related:
1. There is some sort of hope that the show will outlast its product placement with Ford, so allowing it to morph into a Saturn or a Dodge would allow them to explore new contracts later.
or
2. Ford insists that each new season feature the latest year model of their car, as opposed to forever being a 2008 model. Morphing allows them to throw away the 2008 KITT as soon as the 2009 model Fords are off the assembly line -
When I was a really young kid, hopped up on SPEED RACER and even before M.A.S.K. came out, I was convinced that all you had to do to make a car able to fly was open the doors (to act as the wings) and have a really fast engine. Then, a little bit later in life, whilst still a kid, M.A.S.K. confirmed for me that this was true -- you didn't need to have special wings like the Car Acrobatic Team, all you needed was to open your doors and fly really fast. Sadly, this was also how I lost both my first and second cars. After that I stopped believing in cartoons. Damn this consensus reality! DAMN IT TO HELL!!!

So I watched the technology video and what is that, like, the fifth voice I've heard for KITT? There was Will Arnett, there was Val Kilmer, I know there've been at least two different "promo" voices. WHAT THE HELL?

So in reality, the producers should've just visited Apple HQ in Cupertino or Google in Mountain View for a better perspective on what the next 20 years of tech will hold for us. Or I guess they figured adding the Blue Screen of Death to KITT would be a realistic scenario. I mean after all, the computers on Star Trek screw up all the time, plus most Federation crewmen and ensigns would live longer if they'd just connect their console panels to a decent Belkin surge suppressor and an APC UPS battery backup. They've obviously never shopped at a BuyMore before, because the sales crew have to mention those options before you exit the store.

Seriously, why Microsoft? The Playstation3 is powerful enough to control an auto on its own without human input. That was clear last year in the DARPA Challenge. If a Microsoft powered car were to attempt that, it would get RROD and Michael Traceur would have some serious lead in his ass.
