Though I gots to admit Ive never seen anything other than the first three seasons - great show for the boob tube.
-
The two minute preview looks awesome and I can't wait to see how the final season plays out. I'm putting money on Ronnie taking out Shane, Aceveda's life being destroyed, Dutch failing to score with Tina, and Vic ending up in a cell with Antwan Mitchell...
-
Best show on TV since The Wire is gone. Not plausible at times; but gritty and entertaining. Loved Forest Whittaker's character.
-
Is far superior to a cut to black ending with Journey playing.
-
Yeah, I'll catch it for that, but I genuinely believe it. The Sopranos was great for 4 Seasons, whereas The Shield has been strong all the way through it's run.
-
Season 4 is when the show gets REALLY great.
-
that they don't go with the easy series wrap and kill Vic. That's just too rote. He's done some very horrible things in his life and he needs to pay for them, but killing him would just be an easy way to end the series and Shawn Ryan doesn't like to do things the easy way. Let's just hope that the good folks (read: total fuckheads) at Fox agree.
-
I want to see Vic leverage that trunk full of evidence into a happy ending for him and his family, at least. If he can help Ronnie, so much the better. As to Shane, I'm like Harvey Dent...I love and despise the character equally, it'd be a coin toss.
-
the king that rules the ruins.
-
Then he will go legit. Not sure why I think this it just feels like that's how it will play out.
-
...get a straight answer on an air date up here in Canada I will be using a torrent so that I may watch The Shield at my discretion.

I thought season 4 was the weakest season
by guy who got a headache and accidentally
Which is saying a lot really, it's not even close being bad or anything.
-
Fair enough, but Glenn Close was absolutely amazing in that season. Forest Whitaker in the fifth season was also phenomenal: "Would you like some gum?" The last season didn't grab me as much as the others for some reason, it got a little confusing (but maybe that's just me) so I'm really hoping this last season is just mind-blowing. The first and second season finales are still two of the best season endings I've ever seen – that Live song they use at the end of the second one was PERFECT. I hope Vic doesn’t die in the end, but he’s done so much wrong that I find it hard to believe he won’t pay for his crimes in some way.
-
definitely one of the high points of TV this year.
-
I'm thinking Vic's going to have to leave his familia and head to Mexico. Shane's probably going to die, someone needs to pay. The best part about this is how it ties into everything that happened with the very first episode. Amazing show.
-
... I don't even remember what happened.
-
Its all there in the opening credits (I love the fact that he makes orange juice with a blood orange) with the quick smirk/glance at the camera. All this talk of The Dark Knight is fine...but the psycho as hero, keeper of peace, and server of justice is all there in Dexter. The comparisons to The Sheild is apples and oranges. Both are excellent programs in their own regard. I'm also curious about Sons Of Anarchy. Ron Perlman and bikers? Sound good, but these series about anti-heroes/criminals that operate around the fringes of society are getting a little tiring. Thats why Mad Men is a welcome change.
-
Get off your high horse asshole. Christ always some smarmy motherfucking nerd with his opinion. Go watch the Daily Show you pansy fuck.
-
...on Nov. 25th. Man, this show has been such a GREAT ride. I'm so looking forward to this last season, but really don't want it to end...ever!!?!
The water coolers are gonna be a buzzin' that next (Wednes)day...
-
I don't expect an ending that will knock me on the floor, but I expect a satisfying wrap-up, because after six quality seasons in a row, the people who make THE SHIELD have earned my trust for the seventh.
The way it has been set up, I expect somebody to escape to Mexico (maybe Vic will tell Ronnie to get out before the ball drops, but Vic or Shane might also send their families); somebody will have to take out the Armenians (Shane, or maybe Vic can use his bag of contacts for that); somebody SHOULD end up in a cell with Antwon Mitchell (Vic or Shane); the Barn will close down due to the combo of Billings' lawsuit and poor stats.
I have no idea what will happen to most of the characters. I could see Aceveda getting whacked by the latino mob for betraying them. I don't expect anything close to a happy ending for Shane (family murdered, KIA, suicide, or imprisoned), though I could also see Ryan being perverse enough to give him the ONLY happy ending of the whole cast. I could see Vic living, going to prison, dying, or anything, though if he dies there had better be some sort of ironic coverup that makes him out to be a department hero who died in the line of duty. Ronnie - no idea at all, though I hope if anybody goes to Mexico it's him.
I also love the idea of a prison spinoff with Antwon Mitchell in charge and new guy Vic Mackey fighting for his life.
But whatever, like I said, this show has earned my trust over all its six top-notch seasons, and there is no reason to expect a disappointing finale now. -
In the back. No other way a bastard like him checks out. He'll never see it comin.
-
yeah I can visualize the last scene, Vic walking on an empty beach in Mexico, broke and devoid of hope. Shane dead or in jail. Antwon Mitchell laughing in his cell. Ronnie starting over with a new team, pondering how he got there. Kavanaugh popping some champagne...credits rolll.
-
oh dont stop be*NO CARRIER*
*BLACKSCREEN* -
Vic turns to crime. And it's Antoine Mitchell, not Antawn Fisher which is a movie directed by and starring Denzel Washington. Lol.
-
He didn't want to kill Gordon, he wanted to kill the people closest to Gordon. Vic's daughter will eat it in the end. No way Vic dies.
-
The two best lines in series history were
1) When they sprung Lem out on bail near the end of Season 6 and Ronnie says, "Hymen still intact!:
2) Sweet butter -
Since about season five, i've been toying with the idea that Ronnie is a rat.
Seriously, he's the one character of the strike team we know absolutely nothing about. We never get a glimpse of his personal life, and he's always just... there.
Wouldn't it be wicked if he were deep undercover, building a case against Vic and the Strike Team this entire time?
I'd love that. -
But, to be fair, he might also be the antichrist.
-
Over the run of the series, it has been very clear that Vic is all about family and loyalty. I think the most effective (and dramatic) way for Vic's story to end is by betrayal or just that he ends up alone and without the job. At this point, Vic has shown the audience that he is so smart and so cunning that I, personally, wouldn't buy him getting caught or killed.
-
I have total faith this season will rock. Shane needs to die. Vic needs to survive, but if he doesn't let him go out in a blaze of glory. I hope to see Tavon and the Decoy Squad and I wonder if wonder if Dutch will join the dark side. And Billings needs a can of whoop ass.
Man, I can't wait. -
I'll never forget the way Dutch killed that kitten. He's not right in the head, and no body seems to know it.
I could totally see him killing Vic and getting away with it. -
He's been firmly in denial since he married a woman in season two. I think after all the years of supressing himself, he should become openly gay and flamboyant. He could even become famous in Farmington for the "special kind of justice" he gives to bad guys. Hmm, I'm seeing maybe a spinoff show on the Logo channel.
-
Does Arnold appear in the final season? Is Vic Mackie a genocidal killer robot from the future??
-
Mackey will lose all that he really cares about in exchange for coming out unscathed!

So Julian should be a contestant on the next Design Star?
by pops freshemeyer
That's the only possible outcome if they return to Julian being into men.
Oh yeah, I can't wait to see Tavon's return. That can't be good for Shane... -
gets irridated with solar radiation and...oh never mind. I just can't believe the actor with one of the best roles in television gets to be covered in latex for Fantastic Four. I'm sure as an actor its a blast to play, but its just another example why tv trumps movies for content.
-
I forget which season (2, i think), but Vic got shot, was in the hospital...Shane comes in the room, and all the tension between the two erased. Vic talks about the two of them playing golf everyday, and Shane says, "I'd like that." I'd be happy with that ending happening, even if everyone else has to be sacrificed, for those two to make it out okay.
I wonder if Anthony Anderson got the mental equivalent to the bends, going from The Shield to fucking Transformers? -
...I can watch it all again in a row uninterrupted. It is the best quality beginning to end show ever. And I say that not even knowing the end.
It is truly a "good book" to read cover to cover again and again. -
I agree that they exit somehow. Either Vic stays behind (to live or die, not sure) but sends his family to Mexico to be safe (from the Armenians or other reprisals), or Vic lives and his family dies. Vic's fate is up in the air, but I 100% expect him to lose his family somehow.
-
He's now divorced, his daughter hates him, he has an illegitimate kid with a colleague, his friend has been killed by one of his own, he is only one step ahead of IA, Claudette, Aceveda, and Dutch (who I'm not convinced isn't going to have problems of his own). I don't think they'll kill him off, or even send him to prison. Maybe he ends up rich, but has alienated everyone he has ever cared for in the process. All his supposed motivation for Vic's crimes would now be gone and he has to just live with the fact that he is now alone. Can't wait to see what's going to happen, I'm sure to be surprised. By the way, no way Antwan wants to share a cell with Mackey.
-
This one truly baffles me. I thought his storyline was the weakest link of the first season by a mile, but then when it totally disappeared after season 2, I was surprised. The guy hasn't had much going on at all since getting gay-bashed several seasons ago.
The fact that Julian's storyline petered out is weird, because EVERY storyline or major plot point keeps coming back up eventually. Among dozens of others, digging up the picture of Aceveda in season 6 was a great moment - that was a wonderful shock simply because they waited 3 seasons to pay that off!
Other than Julian, the only other dead-end storyline that comes to mind was Dutch killing that cat. What a weird tossed-off moment. -
Terry (Reed Diamond) shows up at the end, his death was staged and Vic was the mole all along!
-
Or the next CTU mole.
-
Cletus Van Damme then turns into the Red Skull.
-
runs into Jack Bauer in Mexico, they become buds and start a charter fishing business, regaling each other with their "stories".
-
I was kind of hoping that would end up coming back and the payoff would be Dutchboy snapping after being rejected by Tina. Is Det. Holland Wagenbach gonna have to choke a bitch?
-
and will be watching the last episode that tuesday night right before the new one.
This is the only show that has been consistent throughout it's entire run. Even BSG, which is my second favorite show, isn't as consistent. Some of their episodes have been kinda WTF?, but not this show. Personally, I hope Vic gets off, but I have a feeling everyone he knows will be going down in some way or another. I can't wait to finally see what happens. -
...especially if the Barn really does go under.
Or maybe he'll crush him under a vending machine. -
He's that badass.
-
I think a cool ending would be if Vic kills Shane and Dutch and Claudette break the case and arrest Vic (and/or send him to prison) for killing a police officer.
It would be sweet irony since Shane helped coverup the fact that Vic killed a federal agent, then via his own murder Vic finally gets nailed for the crime he actually committed in the first episode with Shane's assistance - killing a cop. What goes around comes around.
Last shot is Kavanaugh lighting up a big cigar and smilin' like a muthafucka. -
...Anthony Anderson for his portrayal of Antwon Mitchell. He deserves a best supporting emmy or golden globe this year. Who would have thought the goofy guy from Kangaroo Jack could play such a badass character?
-
Sat through all those mind-numbing promos FX ran over and over before the premiere, only to find the show was really one hell of a ride.Variety forgot to mention the show is also a Peabody award winner, but I guess they don't count awards with integrity, only the ones voted on by the idiots in the biz.
-
Taekwon or whatever his name was ( the guy from The Closer ) who was the new member of the strike team, ended up in a car crash ( can't quite remember how ) Lem visited him in hospital and then that was that. Never mentioned again.
-
hoping you aren't making this up. would be cool to see that story wrapped up.
-
Seriously. In season 4 he showed he can do more than be a fat dude with a high voice. He was seriously badass and should have gotten an Emmy. And Forest was robbed in season 5. And I forgot, I hope Mara buys it big time in season 7.
-
Good god the Shield is awesome. Can't wait for this season, baby!
-
In the final seconds a Mako sound-alike will tell us that he wears his crown on a troubled brow. Even if Vic comes out ahead in the end. He will be an empty shell with no hope for 'real' happiness. Like Tony S, he destroys everything and everyone around him.
-
Have any of you read some of the "reviews" on IMDB? There seemed to be an organized attack of negative reviews on the show for a small stretch there. I love the shield, its definitely in my top 3 series and will be sad to see it gone. And I think Vic walks. He's been trying to redeam himself for a couple seasons now, and I think what happened to Lem was Vic's punishment.
-
Lem convinced him that he hit Mara so that he would keep his mouth shut about the incident. He had no real memory of the event which makes me wonder if Tavon will eventually remember the truth in this last season. And yes, Mara is annoying as hell and needs to die. They made her an unlikeable character almost from the outset and she seems fine with Shane being a murderer.
