Published at:  Aug 18, 2008 3:57:06 PM CDT

I am – Hercules!!

NBC.com just launched a new Web series called "Gemini Division." It stars supercute Rosario Dawson ("Men in Black 2," "Clerks 2") as a hot New York cop who stumbles on a super-secret organization that may or may not be grinding out evil replicants.

It's an extra-talky affair from Brent Friedman, who scripted "Mortal Kombat 2" before he moved on to the 2002 UPN Forest Whitaker version of "The Twilight Zone" and "Star Trek: Enterprise."

These will come flinging at us in five minute chunks. The first two chucks arrived today:

Episode 1:

Episode 2:

September 30!!

$12.95 HD Terminator!!

    Hmm

    by cobbio

These 'casts made me wonder who she was talking to. A friend? An ex? An authority figure? I couldn't quite tell.
That's what I liked about it. Amazingly, and probably helped by the fact Rosario Dawson's a beautiful as well as solid actress, I liked what I just watched. The story was oddly told but strangely compelling. I want to know what that stuff on her fingers was.
It's not what I was expecting from the guy who wrote "Mortal Combat 2" and "Enterprise" episodes, but it was quietly effective. Needs more action and deeper weirdness, but I liked Dawson's character and the setup.
    We'll see.

    by andrewwankenobi

If the 'chunks' are any indication. If that shit airs people are going to grab for the remote quicker then you can say canceled. And it's very obvious that it was all shot in front of a green/blue screen.

VIDEO CONTENT IS NOT AVAILABLE IN YOUR AREA YOU DIRTY LITTLE CANADIAN!!! What do YOU know about entertainment? You'd all be speaking GERMAN now if it wasn't for us. Sorry I got a little riled up there... but yeah. I probably wont be able to see it. But my question is... is this show based on the comic with her likeness she put out a couple years back?

Rosario Dawson's comic "Occult Crimes Taskforce"

    by gottaeat

Sounds like this is her comic come to the small screen. Should be cook, the comic was interesting. It suited her. Here is a link:

Or just Google "Rosario Dawson comic" and voila. Her comic book likeness is fantastic.

    After Afterworld

    by cadfile

Its by the same guys who did Afterworld which was pretty okay by web standards. And they have a pretty good cast so maybe it'll be watchable. Then again NBC's recent webisodes for the Office and Hero's suck monkey ass so maybe not. Time will tell, one way or another.

BTW you can find all 130 episodes of Afterworld on Youtube now. The animation style is a little wonky but it's a pretty good story. Worth checking out IMO.

    by greatczarsghost

The only interesting thing about this is that she said "chicken shit" and that's not usually used on a network show. Other than that this is really slow and I have a feeling viewers will be looking forward to the commercials.

That was soooooooo slow, if you're going to have only 5min episodes how about making us want to come back for more. You can afford a slow build in a 30min or hour show...it doesn't work here.

this doesn't sound anything like OCT

    by oisin5199

Occult Crimes Taskforce was about disembodied spirits, not evil replicants. This sounds more scifi. One of my favorite parts of the trade paperback was the OCT rookie manual, which was more interesting than the actual story.

    by media messiah

This is just horrible. Dude, this should prove to anybody Joss Whedon is a genius. Just watch this back to back wth Dr. Horrible, there is no contest. One is incompetent, and the other brimming in competence and confidence. Joss did Dr. Horrible in a week without network or studio or support...and here we have Rosario Dawson with a network behind her, and they create this trash, the Gemini Division??? Sounds like someone at NBC just wanted to get in her panties, hence the reason they greenlit this garbage.

    Strange audio issues.

    by gotilk

Dialogue cuts out but background music still plays perfectly under it. On purpose? If so, it's not effective because you can still hear what they are saying, it's just garbled and quiet. Then when it comes back it's deafening. So, if they did that on purpose, they're really stupid.

...and it got me interested in this little show. They've filmed several episodes already, and there should be more action in later ones, if that's all you care about.

This Is Just Plain Writing And Direction!!!

    by media messiah

Action has nothing to do with it. This production is stiff, without imagination, suffers from poor direction...and poor writing. The budget doesn't matter, here or lack of action, as I have seen zero budget Twilight Zone (the original series) episodes with no action in them, that were absolutely brilliant. This Gemini Division web series is just unprofessional, poorly staged, poorly filmed and unpolished.
