More HALO: THE FALL OF REACH Concept Art Is Now Online!!

Published at:  Aug 11, 2008 10:42:00 PM CDT

Merrick here...

As promised last week, Latino review has now posted the second in its series of concept images from Stuart Beattie's HALO: THE FALL OF REACH movie project.

You can find more details about said project HERE.

Looks like our Latino brethren are being pummeled by Microsoft for posting these images. 'Cause, you know, that first HALO movie worked out so well for them and all. And, 'cause there ain't no other HALO fan art, home movies, unauthorized game play videos, amateur score performances, etc. anywhere to be found in cyberspace.

Guess it's just that kinda week on these zany Internets.

HERE IT IS!!!

    by jimmy_009

Looks like a bunch of Poser models. They should have strayed from the weak original Halo concept designs. This looks boring.

Looks boring. But the games never did it for me

    by spencertrilby

I'd probably be hyped if I was the heart of the marketing target. But the fact that a Stuart Beattie written, PJ produced sci-fi flick doesn't give me a boner the size of Las Vegas' Stratosphere tower is indeed worrying. Not for my dong, that is.

Maybe it's out of context or something but it reminds me of mid '90s cutscene art.

Yes, if you haven't read the book, you wouldn't have an idea what the scene is about.

This scene (with the Spart-tots training) should only be several minutes long and acts as our first introduction to John-117. In no way does the concept art represent the scene, as it is a more stylized shot from the perspective of the bottom most rung of a ladder.

    The Halo Series, Summed Up

    by nascentia

Halo 1: Fun, but very repetitive with shit level design.

Halo 2: The opening levels on Earth were fucking amazing. Everything after that was utter shit, and I couldn't wait for the game to be over.

Halo 3: Pretty fucking awesome, except for the impossible Flood level.

    by stalkeye

same goes for Bioshock and I usually hate FPS, but game of the year? i don't think so. And master cheif is too fucking one dimensional, what a boring ass character. How are they gonna make him come to life in this movie is beyond me.

Pillar of Autumn, in my pants!

    by caerdwyn

Wow. They're finally making the sequel to Soldier! Get Kurt on the phone. Just kidding, though Master Chief is about as wooden a character as Todd, but for a pinch of sarcasm. When it comes down to it though, Master Chief's part of the scenery... as long as they show explosions and good ol' MC blowing up some Covies, this will make bank. Bonus points if they add some human characters worth caring about and a quality storyline, and if they use more of "Fall of Reach" than the title alone.

    Master Cheif and One Dimensional.

    by laughing irishman

Again, i've said it before, if the do Halo: Fall of Reach it will not be one dimensional. It is very Enders Game-ish. Child prodigies being raised to be the super soldiers, Spartan 117(Master Chief)is run through the gamet(sp?) during his childhood and is trained and honed to be the perfect soldier/weapon. The book was done quite well and the movie could be phenomenal, if, and it's a big if, the studios leave it alone and let the book be filmed. You know what I mean. Riiight?

    Doctor Zoidberg: Understanding

    by mbeemer

"Don't understand the love for a faceless/souless main character"
It's precisely because he's faceless - that allows the player to BECOME him. His success is their success; rooting for him is rooting for themselves. Oldest trick in the book.

unless that concept art is a year or two old, they just scrounged the internet for some halo renders by fans.

    Perspective?

    by fathermcgruderkicksassforthelord

Is it just me, or is the perspective in that pic about 75% off? It looks like the kids training in the "distance" are about 1" tall. And, why is the one commander or whatever semi-transparent?

This could be fan art, if it weren't being C & D'd by M$.

BTW, way to go toe-to-toe with the big boys, Latino Review.

Ugh... PLEASE don't make a MOVIE of that crummy book...

    by kiddae

All those novelizations are unreadable. Patton Oswalt's Star Wars bit pretty much sums it up.

I know nobody would fund a Blomkamp-helmed version, but Peter Jackson hasn't officially dropped out, has he? There's still hope, ain't there?

kicked ass because none of the films were built around him. He wasn't overdone and, yes, Master Chief would be way boring to watch for 2 hours and I'm sure he'd have the gay Batman constipation voice. Pass

    by killakane

this kind of lack lustre (bland) pre-prod art does'nt really instill much confidence. Who's attached to direct this movie anyway? Criminal that Jackson/Blomkamp's take did'nt get the financing it deserved.
