David Zucker & Leslie Nielsen Take On Michael Moore!! Vivendi Gets U.S. Rights To AN AMERICAN CAROL!!

Published at:  Jul 31, 2008 11:42:07 PM CDT

The "Team America" version of Michael Moore

I am – Hercules!!

The latest spoof from writer-director David Zucker (“Airplane!” “The Naked Gun,” the newer, better editions of “Scary Movie”) will be distributed in the United States by start-up theatrical distributor Vivendi Entertainment.

“An American Carol” tells the tale of a Michael Moore-ish filmmaker who gets a visit from three apparitions after he fails to get into the Independence Day spirit.

The comedy stars Leslie Nielsen, Dennis Hopper, James Woods and Chris Farley’s kid brother Kevin as the bearded, corpulent documentarian.

Two of the ghosts appear to belong to George Washington (Jon Voight) and George Patton (Kelsey Grammer).

If wanting to have more americans to have jobs, not living in a culture of fear while other profit from it, being pissed form being lied to into a needless war and health care for all unamerican then WTF?!? really? Moore has never EVER said one unkind word about our efforts in Afganistan and is a NRA member. Hardly the M.O. of a left wing nut job doncha think? His enemy is cooprate greed. And alot of you bought the propganda from the coorprate media. The Love Guru looks more funny then this movie. At least Moore can entertian. But hey the Fox News crowd will love it. The difference between a Michael Moore and an ultra right wing piece of filth is that Michael Moore realizes that in the end, he realizes that his financial success is not solely due to his own efforts. Ultra right wing liberals either refuse to acknowledge this or buy into the "objectivist's" morality that it doesn't matter how you get there, but that you simply get there and once you do you have no obligation to anyone because in their particular world view, it's immoral for the strong to cater to the weak. Hitler believed the same thing. It is the natural order of things for the strong to impose their will upon the weak.

Moore is a hypocritical p.r. parasite, a gluttonous profiteer. His "documentaries" are seriously compromised. I've been a card-carrying Democrat on this site since year #1. But here's more heresy: I was an Obama supporter. I cheered myself hoarse at two fundraisers. The love affair is over. Obama's "Germany" speech was the worst photo op ever: addressing a former Nazi nation, he recounted America's imperfections. He Apologized to a nation that savored genocide. It's like "You know the Holocaust and the concentration camps? C'mon, let's pretend it never happened!"

    So what I'm getting

    by volstaff

Is that somehow it's wrong to make fun of liberals? really? Has it become that much of a religion for some fuckwits that now it's some kind of sacred cow?
It's not so much liberalism that's rich in unmined humor, it's more the whole self righteous, smarmy attitude so many so called liberals have. Oh and I'm really tired of the whole bullshit "I'm smarter than you and if you disagree with me you must be an inbred redneck who hates the environment, gays, blacks and the "TRUE AMERICA!"
I am surprised that Zucker's doing the Moore spoof though, and not Matt and Trey.
The problem with Moore is he likes the sound of his own voice too much, and his "documentaries" come across more as starring vehicles for himself rather than anything even approaching journalism or sincerity.
I thought Sicko was great right up until he starts interjecting himself into the film, then it turned to shit real quick.
If he'd just told the stories and let them speak for themselves it would have had much more punch, but no, he gets out the fucking sledgehammer and tries to pound his message home because " hey Goddamnit I'm MICHAEL FUCKING MOORE AND I HAVE IMPORTANT SHIT TO SAY!!!Now let's go to Gitmo for my big photo op!".
Fuck Moore, and all you little pissant posers who've stolen the "liberal" flag and turned it into something else.

It's not wrong to make fun of liberals. There is a shit load of comedy to be mined from liberalism, this coming from a liberal. The thing is... conservatives aren't funny when they try it. Just watch those clips I put up about ten posts back, from Fox News' "The Half Hour News Hour", which sought to be the Daily Show for conservatives. I'll give you my whole gigantic liberal trust fund if you laugh once. And if I had a trust fund. About the only mocking of liberals that was funny that I've ever seen was probably Team America.

    Faulty premise

    by renonevada2000

Sounds like they're proceeding from the faultiest of premises- that liberals hate America. Liberals do not, despite what certain drug addled gasbags and sexual harassing fallafel fetishists on the right would have you believe, hate America. They may have a different view of what makes America great and how to achieve that greatness, but that is all. Conservatives can be funny at times, even intentionally. However, this sounds like a real misfire, and I speak as lifelong AIRPLANE fan.

    by thegreatwhatzit

Jackson compares himself to Martin Luther King. Nice try. I recall when Mr. King marched during the dog days of summer. Bathed in sweat. Jackson won't make a speech at a high school unless he's accomodated with an air conditoned limousine. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Then there's Ted Kennedy's anthem, "I lost my secretary at Chappaquiddick." Then there's Senator "KKK" Byrd. These are just the opening acts. If conservatives can take it on the chin, there's no reason why the rest of us should be in denial. If properly promoted, this film could be a genuine success.

Zucker hasn't made a funny movie in 20 years. Moore had the guts to take on the neocons and the Bushies in 2004, and criticize the Iraq War when it was unpopular to do so. Almost everything Moore said has been vindicated by events and revelations since then. And Columbine showed how Canada had just as many gubs as the US but way less crime - he never advocated gun control. Though his interview with Heston was deceptive. But the right wingers foam at the mouth when the subject of Moore comes up, just like some liberals do when Rush is mentioned.

    by hesiod2k

And he's not always accurate. But, the way to make fun of him is not to be hamfisted about it accuse the guy of being a commie pinko traitor.

Moore's opint of view is borne out of patriotism. He loves his country and sees a lot of things wrtong with it that he thinks should be fixed.

Now, you can certainly disagree with his prescriptions or even his diagnosis of what is wrong. But you can't argue the guy isn't patriotic. That's just asinine and it will undermine every joke Zucker the neocon fuckhead will tell in this movie.
