David Zucker & Leslie Nielsen Take On Michael Moore!! Vivendi Gets U.S. Rights To AN AMERICAN CAROL!!

The "Team America" version of Michael Moore

The "Team America" version of Michael Moore
I am – Hercules!!
The latest spoof from writer-director David Zucker (“Airplane!” “The Naked Gun,” the newer, better editions of “Scary Movie”) will be distributed in the United States by start-up theatrical distributor Vivendi Entertainment.
“An American Carol” tells the tale of a Michael Moore-ish filmmaker who gets a visit from three apparitions after he fails to get into the Independence Day spirit.
The comedy stars Leslie Nielsen, Dennis Hopper, James Woods and Chris Farley’s kid brother Kevin as the bearded, corpulent documentarian.
Two of the ghosts appear to belong to George Washington (Jon Voight) and George Patton (Kelsey Grammer).

...but I hold some hope, given the cast.
-
This looks like the most original premise Zucker has done in a long while.
-
article. If anyone doubts that Zucker is in top form, I have three words for you: Scary Movie. Plus, what genre of film could be more ripe for a spoof than the documentary? Plus, I got two more words for you: Frasier.

Not getting my hopes up, but if it's done right the premise has potential.
-
A comedy about a Michael Moore surrogate not getting into the Independence Day spirit (i.e. not being patriotic)? Dear, Lord.
-
I'm a douchebag.
-
I'm a comma.
-
...so I'd love to see him get his fat butt skewered. Sauce for the goose, as it were.
-
or bad. either way, bleh.
-
That doesn't work.
-
but nothing tops Moore as portrayed in Team America
-
Look for a Moore lookalike to get klonked on the head by something in the trailer.

Hey bastards, are we gonna git a review of that Toby Keith movie
by youareallmybastardchildren
I'm calling 'Worst movie of the Year' on that one. I'm real curious to see if the pros think it's better -or worse- than The Happening.Do it. Do it.
-
Supposedly at the end the moore character finds clarity at the world trade center ruins while George Washington's ghost watches nearby....crazy stuff.
-
think conservatives flocked to airplane in droves? stupid fuck...this shit will bomb and he can go back to making tasteless campaign commercials for mcoldman
-
Airplane! Police Squad! / The Naked Gun. Nobody does spoofs better. Heck, even his political ads are awesome!
http://virginiavirtucon.wordpress.com/zucker-tv/ -
I trust Zucker/Nielsen fully to give Michael Moore a long needed gutting. The guy is a shim-sham artist who passes himself off as a documentarian. Staged responses, inappropriate editing and one sided bias that fills all of Moore's work is ripe for satire.
-
B/C nothing says funny like a conservative making fun of a liberal who makes fun of conservatives via documentary film. Now if only we could Urkel and Yacov Smirnoff in there somehow.
-
Amen! Regardless of your political stripes (and my liberal friends agree), Michael Moore is not even a true liberal. Michael Moore's only cause is Michael Moore.

Liberals need to weapon up and learn to use 'em pronto
by harry weinstein
That's the great failure of American liberalism - the abandonment of the Second Amendment to the right-wingers. Fucking idiocy.
-
With a gun. Singular. One's plenty.
-
The fifth amendment gives me, my children, and my burgeoning militia the right to have as many guns as we want. Read the declaration of indepenents before you go shooting your mouth off. Or anybody's mouth off.
-
but Leslie Nielsen has been looking about the same for the past 30 years or so. Steve Martin too, and they both have white hair....
CREEEEEPY!!!! -
...piss is splashing all over my smiling face for this movie.
-
it seems like the right wing misses the ENTIRE point about Michael Moore. The guy does not hate America. If wanting to have more americans to have jobs, not living in a culture of fear while other profit from it, being pissed form being lied to into a needless war and health care for all unamerican then WTF?!? really? Moore has never EVER said one unkind word about our efforts in Afganistan and is a NRA member. Hardly the M.O. of a left wing nut job doncha think? His enemy is cooprate greed. And alot of you bought the propganda from the coorprate media. The Love Guru looks more funny then this movie. At least Moore can entertian. But hey the Fox News crowd will love it. At least they will beacuse thats what they are told to do.
-
You know who else had white hair? That guy who wanted the grail but choose the wrong one then kind of morphed into a skeleton. I think that's a cautionary tale that Mr. Nielson, Mr. Martin, and Billy Idol should stop and think about. PS - urine jokes are hilarious.
-
Face facts. Michael Moore hates America. I have proof: He's critical of the bush administration. Ipso Facto: I'm your boss, and Michael Moore hates America. I rest my case. You know who else hated America? That white-haired guy with the grail. Think about it. PS, TallScott, if that is your real name: You've revealed your pathetic weakness by not cursing and making jokes about urine. I'm very disappointed in you.
-
The difference between a Michael Moore and an ultra right wing piece of filth is that Michael Moore realizes that in the end, he realizes that his financial success is not solely due to his own efforts. Ultra right wing liberals either refuse to acknowledge this or buy into the "objectivist's" morality that it doesn't matter how you get there, but that you simply get there and once you do you have no obligation to anyone because in their particular world view, it's immoral for the strong to cater to the weak. Hitler believed the same thing. It is the natural order of things for the strong to impose their will upon the weak.
-
erm... i should have re-read what i posted... not ultra right wing LIBERALS i meant to say ultra right wing NUTJOBS (in my opinion)
-
Zucker, Grammer, Voight, Kevin Sorbo, Bill O'Reilly (as himself), Dennis Hopper.... I suspect even Postal and Team America will be funnier than this. But this will be funnier than The Half Hour News Hour, to be sure.
-
this seems like a weak premise for a movie. Not to mention that Zucker, Grammer, Hopper, Woods and Voigt are all die hard Republicans which makes me think this will be more about self congratulation and less about comedy. If the trailer is funny I may give it a chance on video.

Considering hos divided and partisan US politcs still is...
by wowsah156
this is gong to divide and polarise audiences. RThis wont make money. Taking the piss out of sincere fil makers like Moore whilst we have an ever more publicly hated president and senate, i am sorry to say that politcs is a grim thing at the moment. I will not see this.
-
Moore is a hypocritical p.r. parasite, a gluttonous profiteer. His "documentaries" are seriously compromised. I've been a card-carrying Democrat on this site since year #1. But here's more heresy: I was an Obama supporter. I cheered myself hoarse at two fundraisers. The love affair is over. Obama's "Germany" speech was the worst photo op ever: addressing a former Nazi nation, he recounted America's imperfections. He Apologized to a nation that savored genocide. It's like "You know the Holocaust and the concentration camps? C'mon, let's pretend it never happened!"
-
Huh? The newer ones are crap. The first 2 are ok, I suppose.
-
Is that somehow it's wrong to make fun of liberals? really? Has it become that much of a religion for some fuckwits that now it's some kind of sacred cow?
It's not so much liberalism that's rich in unmined humor, it's more the whole self righteous, smarmy attitude so many so called liberals have. Oh and I'm really tired of the whole bullshit "I'm smarter than you and if you disagree with me you must be an inbred redneck who hates the environment, gays, blacks and the "TRUE AMERICA!"
I am surprised that Zucker's doing the Moore spoof though, and not Matt and Trey.
The problem with Moore is he likes the sound of his own voice too much, and his "documentaries" come across more as starring vehicles for himself rather than anything even approaching journalism or sincerity.
I thought Sicko was great right up until he starts interjecting himself into the film, then it turned to shit real quick.
If he'd just told the stories and let them speak for themselves it would have had much more punch, but no, he gets out the fucking sledgehammer and tries to pound his message home because " hey Goddamnit I'm MICHAEL FUCKING MOORE AND I HAVE IMPORTANT SHIT TO SAY!!!Now let's go to Gitmo for my big photo op!".
Fuck Moore, and all you little pissant posers who've stolen the "liberal" flag and turned it into something else. -

So Hollywood's neocons got together to make a comedy ...
by no respectable gentleman
What a brains trust. What an embarrassment.
-
It's not wrong to make fun of liberals. There is a shit load of comedy to be mined from liberalism, this coming from a liberal. The thing is... conservatives aren't funny when they try it. Just watch those clips I put up about ten posts back, from Fox News' "The Half Hour News Hour", which sought to be the Daily Show for conservatives. I'll give you my whole gigantic liberal trust fund if you laugh once. And if I had a trust fund. About the only mocking of liberals that was funny that I've ever seen was probably Team America.
-
Sounds like they're proceeding from the faultiest of premises- that liberals hate America. Liberals do not, despite what certain drug addled gasbags and sexual harassing fallafel fetishists on the right would have you believe, hate America. They may have a different view of what makes America great and how to achieve that greatness, but that is all. Conservatives can be funny at times, even intentionally. However, this sounds like a real misfire, and I speak as lifelong AIRPLANE fan.
-
Herc, Richard Roper summed things up very well when he said the following about David and jerry Zuckers Scary movie entries and zuckers being creators of the Spoof movies. David and Jerry Zucker were there at the beginning of Spoof movies and its very apt that they are there at the end.
-
a Michael Moore film. One of his hallmarks is a sense of humor. I agree that liberals are an open target, but if this is an attempt at conservative humor, rather than just self-deprecating humor, then it will probably bomb.
-
...something involving Leslie Nielsen and David Zucker that doesn't have "movie" at the end of it. That should be a good start. Though, it looks like Jon Voight will be back to wearing a prosthetic nose again, and we all know what happened the last time he did that...right Massawyrm?
-
The only conservatives in Hollywood are finally going to all be in one movie together. Now if they could only get Norm MacDonald involved... And that irrelevant Baldwin brother.
-
Jackson compares himself to Martin Luther King. Nice try. I recall when Mr. King marched during the dog days of summer. Bathed in sweat. Jackson won't make a speech at a high school unless he's accomodated with an air conditoned limousine. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Then there's Ted Kennedy's anthem, "I lost my secretary at Chappaquiddick." Then there's Senator "KKK" Byrd. These are just the opening acts. If conservatives can take it on the chin, there's no reason why the rest of us should be in denial. If properly promoted, this film could be a genuine success.
-
like Barack Obama. That guy cracks me up!
-
Zucker hasn't made a funny movie in 20 years. Moore had the guts to take on the neocons and the Bushies in 2004, and criticize the Iraq War when it was unpopular to do so. Almost everything Moore said has been vindicated by events and revelations since then. And Columbine showed how Canada had just as many gubs as the US but way less crime - he never advocated gun control. Though his interview with Heston was deceptive. But the right wingers foam at the mouth when the subject of Moore comes up, just like some liberals do when Rush is mentioned.
-
It's like the 'Who's Who' of 9-11 Republican actors. You know, the actors who were registered Dems before 9-11, but decided Liberals were pussies after 9-11 so they became Republicans. They should round out the cast with Dennis Miller as the wisecracking cinematographer.
-
his communist propaganda? I would pay good money to see that...
-
It has been several years since I have posted here, and I'm back, so look out.
Michael Moore is a fat vagina. -
Deal with how original that was!! Hey filmnazi, I suggest you go back into hibernation for a couple few several more years, because when you come back, you really know how to bring it. It would take me like at least 20 years to come up with the idea of calling Michael Moore a fat vajayjay. Noice!!!!!
-
Sounds a little more cohesive then Zucker's last few movies. I'll watch it when it goes to HBO, at least for as long as I can and then I'll probably pop in Airplane or Police Squad.
-
Might as throw every single Hollywood wingnut into the cast. Eastwood is too old and distinguished, and Selleck is a has-been.
-
They do schoolyard taunts and get the "Laugh of the bullies."
-
And he's not always accurate. But, the way to make fun of him is not to be hamfisted about it accuse the guy of being a commie pinko traitor.
Moore's opint of view is borne out of patriotism. He loves his country and sees a lot of things wrtong with it that he thinks should be fixed.
Now, you can certainly disagree with his prescriptions or even his diagnosis of what is wrong. But you can't argue the guy isn't patriotic. That's just asinine and it will undermine every joke Zucker the neocon fuckhead will tell in this movie.
This is the reasons people hate Republicans right now.
You cannot fathom that anyone who thinks you are wrong or disagrees with you is a patriot.
-
Fuck those clips were painful. And people actually clapped when Ann Coulter entered the scene? WTF? Shouldn't there have been some rotten-produce-throwing instead? Anyway, I hope this movie sticks it to moore. He's good when he's not crazy, but he's usually crazy. After all, Moore managed to get fired from Mother Jones for being too far out there.
