PUSHING DAISIES Plots
WONDERFALLS Crossover!!

Published at: July 27, 2008, 7:24 p.m. CST

I am – Hercules!!
Mary Ann Marie Beetle, a character from the “Muffin Buffalo” episode of “Wonderfalls,” will turn up in a season-two episode of ABC’s “Pushing Daisies,” series mastermind Bryan Fuller told the ComicCon crowd Saturday. Fuller, who created both "Daisies" and "Wonderfalls," said he’d love to have “Wonderfalls” central character Jaye Tyler turn up on “Daisies” as well. Other season-two news: * Kids have been cast to play young Emerson Cod and young Olive Snook. * Chuck and Olive will remain roomies. * Chuck’s Aunts will visit the Pie Hole and end up in a nunnery. * David Arquette has been cast as Ned’s new best friend. The Hollywood Reporter’s Karen Nicoletti has more on the matter here.

    I liked Wonderfalls.

    by fiester

The lead was very appealing and it showed promise. Sorry it did not catch on.

  • July 27, 2008, 7:09 p.m. CST

    Wonderfalls is overrated

    by Harrow

They better not ruin Pushing Daisies by forcing Wonderfalls characters uncomfortably into stories!

  • July 27, 2008, 7:18 p.m. CST

How the fuck can it be overrated...

    by BangoSkank

when it was canceled after three episodes, and most people have never heard of it?

  • July 27, 2008, 7:18 p.m. CST

I want a Dead Like Me crossover.

    by RawShark13

    ...Yerp.

  • July 27, 2008, 7:22 p.m. CST

    Jaye's just GOTTA show up...

    by Ellipsian

...if for nothing more than to constantly stare sideways at Ned the Pieman and continually mumble how uncannily he resembles her brother, Aaron. Hell, while they're at it, bring Aaron in, too; if written right, that could KILL!

  • July 27, 2008, 7:24 p.m. CST

    Wonderfalls was horrible Herc

    by 18to88

In fact every time I read anything you post I temper your enthusiasm with the knowledge that you liked that pile of crap.

  • July 27, 2008, 7:24 p.m. CST

Hmm and here I thought it was Pushing Dasies that was overrated

    by gwarwilleatyou

to each his own I guess

  • July 27, 2008, 7:26 p.m. CST

    18to88, I didn't like Wonderfalls!

    by Hercules

    I fucking loved it!

  • July 27, 2008, 7:32 p.m. CST

    Wonderfalls was awesome

    by aleeminator

I hope this happens, i'd love to see that series live on in any form possible

And So, Herc's Penis Explodes Mightily...

    by Leto III

...from a Fuller-Fuller crossover; Fuller himself, of course, originally a Whedon-apprentice. Still, enjoyed WONDERFALLS and PUSHING DAISIES last season, so this should be worthwhile.

  • July 27, 2008, 7:36 p.m. CST

    Wonderfalls >Pushing Daisies

    by Optimus Primal

Still, Daisies is a good show though.

  • July 27, 2008, 7:39 p.m. CST

Ditto on Dead Like Me crossover

    by DarkCouncilus

... please Herc, your obsession with Wonderflushes is neither "Scrubs" cute nor tonge-in-cheek funny, but if you really like Mr. Fuller's work, please focus all this um, energy? to keep PD going on the air as long as possible.

  • July 27, 2008, 7:40 p.m. CST

Dead Like Me > Wonderfalls > Pushing Daisies

    by DarkCouncilus

An who did the animation for the credits of WF and PD? do they come from the same source?

    Wonderfalls was genius

I will come to blows with anyone that says otherwise!

  • July 27, 2008, 7:52 p.m. CST

    "originally a Whedon-apprentice."

  • July 27, 2008, 7:54 p.m. CST

    I pretty much loved Wonderfalls...

    by The-Duke-of-New-York

...and I really like Pushing Daisies whenever I get a chance to watch it. This is only good news.

    So whimsical ...

    by Spymunk

... you get diabetes instantly when you view the two shows back-to-back. Throw in a SIX FEET UNDER chaser and you've got a night of endless toothache-agony.
Fortunately, we were spared a return of WONDERFALLS. How PUSHING DAISIES' pursed-lipped man-boy-girl 'hero' managed to get another season is really beyond me. I guess it really speaks of the feminization of American culture.
Meanwhile, I'm going to go watch ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST. kTHXBYE.

  • July 27, 2008, 8:11 p.m. CST

    "originally a Whedon-apprentice."

    by snowpuff

I think he was a Brannon Braga apprentice. That's close enough for Herc to have a TVgasm.

Actually this is incorrect information ...

    by MissAnimated

They said (and I was there) that they would LIKE to consider it in the future - but for now they wanted Ned to be the special one in his world and didn't want to have other "magical" people coming along just yet to take away from his special abilities. So - they never said it was a for sure thing, or even this season. They did also say they wanted a musical episode.

  • July 27, 2008, 8:23 p.m. CST

Sigh... I was just getting over the loss of Wonderfalls...

    by aversiontherapy2

And now they want to tempt us with this! I would love to see Jaye return, she's the sassiest love beast ever to grace my television.

You clearly haven't been around here long if you think "most people have never heard of it". It's overrated by AICNers, and those not aware of it don't have any worse a life for that, so leave it dead. Dead Like Me, on the other hand, was brilliant, that should be brought back, but not at the expense of cheapening Pushing Daisies.

  • July 27, 2008, 9 p.m. CST

    oh ok

    by Mr_X

dead like me was brilliant and wonderfalls was rubiish. actually thats probably the other way around. wonderfalls had some fantastic episodes ( that Russian bride episode particularly brilliant). not a bad character amongst the whole team. well worth the purchase on dvd. another show cut short by fox!

  • July 27, 2008, 9:12 p.m. CST

    Huh?

    by SkidMarkedUndies

What now? What's this Wonderfalls all about? Is it about Niagra Falls in Canada or something?

Oh god, they casted former WCW Champ David Arquette???

    by Shermdawg

    ew.

  • July 27, 2008, 9:47 p.m. CST

    Wonderfalls>Pushing Daisies>Dead Like Me

    by flickchick85

Dead Like Me lost Fuller early on, and it showed. I loved it, don't get me wrong, and it certainly had its moments of brilliance, but it suffered from being pulled into too many directions. I think I'll eventually love Pushing Daisies more than Wonderfalls, but it hasn't had a chance to totally find its footing yet (long-term direction mainly).
Yay for Wonderfalls crossovers. And I agree, Jaye MUST make an appearance, if only for the in-joke about her brother. But really, Caroline Dhavernas is awesome, and should really be in more American movies/TV.

  • July 27, 2008, 10:09 p.m. CST

I loved Wonderfalls too, so sue me.

    by jae683

Caroline Dhavernas is just plain hot, imho.

  • July 27, 2008, 10:09 p.m. CST

Not many shows can pull that off

    by dvdhound79

But this would be like sprinkles on top of frosting on top of a cupcake inside a real cake.... I hope you can sense the goodness I'm trying to convey here.

    Wonderfalls was that RARE show...

    by Bill Clay

...that my teenagers would actually sit down and watch with me. It's a miracle when someone can put together a show that gets our whole family in front of the TV together. Dr. Who is currently filling that niche. ;)

I loved that Simon and Simon crossover! Of course nothing ever beats Jessica Fletcher with Magnum PI!

    what was wonderfalls?

    by Cotton McKnight

Is that video clip wonderfalls? I can't sit through it enough to find out.

  • July 27, 2008, 11:02 p.m. CST

okay I was thinking of Joan of Arcadia

    by Cotton McKnight

Dont they have the same plot or something?

  • July 27, 2008, 11:21 p.m. CST

Wonderfalls and Joan of Arcadia nothing alike

    by Drath

I liked both shows and on a very very superficial maybe just on a fortune-cookie brief written description kind of a way they resembled each other, but to watch them was to see two way different shows, as different as Touched by an Angel and Dead Like Me (I think, I never actually watched Touched by an Angel, but I think it was probably sentimental because of the title). Joan of Arcadia wasn't 7th Heaven bad, but it sure seemed like it next to Wonderfalls. Sadly both shows and Tru Calling were ditched by dipshit network executives. **************************** Isn't it going to be odd for Jaye to see Ned, who looks identical to her brother Aaron? Otherwise, I'd love to see her!!!

  • July 27, 2008, 11:23 p.m. CST

    If Jaye shows up....

    by frakthetoasters

...won't she think the Pieman looks a lot like her brother?

  • July 27, 2008, 11:56 p.m. CST

re: Joss Whedon and Bryan Fuller

    by Leto III

Woops, you're right -- I was thinking of Tim Minear, but said "Fuller" for some reason, since both worked on WONDERFALLS during its run.

  • July 28, 2008, 1:28 a.m. CST

I dont watch any of these shows

    by the milf lover

but I'd sure love a taste of Caroline Dhavernas' pie hole...

    Harrow-

    by BangoSkank

I just don't see a couple dozen passionate fans of a show equating to said show being overrated, but I guess that's all a matter of perspective. I loved it, but if you hated it, I guess I could see how a couple of dozen fans could be a couple of dozen too much.
All a matter of perspective.

  • July 28, 2008, 7:52 a.m. CST

I Netflix'd WONDERFALLS and liked it, but...

    by MCVamp

It gave me serious "sophomore slump" vibes...probably for the best that it became more of a miniseries (albeit a long one) than a regular series. The talking trinkets gimmick was starting to show its wrinkles and could have been horrible in a second go-round. But the lead was amazingly cute and the season for what it was ended on a solid, satisfying note.

  • July 28, 2008, 8:19 a.m. CST

    I don't hate Wonderfalls

    by Harrow

It merely isn't as great as everyone keeps saying. Like The Dark Knight. I have no problem with Wonderfalls obsessions living on in AICNers' hearts, but when their rabid love causes characters to be brought into existing (and better imo) tv shows, then I'm wary, is all.

    Fair enough.
Though, as a fan of Wonderfalls, I was unaware that they were created by the same person, and with this news Pushing Daisies is now in my Netflix queue and will be added to my season pass.....

  • July 28, 2008, 10:27 a.m. CST

"characters to be brought into existing tv shows"

    by the milf lover

They did it with Munch joining Law&Order SVU, so why cant they do that here too? Is there really a difference between bringing in a character from another show and creating a brand new character?

  • July 28, 2008, 10:30 a.m. CST

As long as they do it well

    by Harrow

If they bring characters in without any in-jokes that require knowledge of Wonderfalls. Like the "omfg wouldn't it be so funny if she mentions how much he looks like her brother?!" stuff that is already flying over my head.

....on our basic cable? When William Sadler delivered that line on Wonderfalls, my love for the show became permanent. I have the DVD set on my iPod and re-watch regularly. I love Pushing Daisies...it's a love letter to people like me who take the road less traveled as a matter of routine. As was Wonderfalls. A crossover is an unexpected, but much wished for moment of joy for me. Wow...this just made a shitty Monday into a sunny day. Thanks, Herc ! ! ! !

    Weird choice of Wonderfalls clip...

    by flickchick85

I loved that show, but c'mon, the Pilot was one of, if not THE, worst episode of the bunch. Not that I don't love it, but if you're trying to show people what made it so great? That was SO not the clip to show.

Wonderfalls was too precious by half...

    by AnnoyYou

...but for some reason I really like "Pushing Daisies." Odd, because Lee Pace starred in both shows. I think it's the female cast, though, which is first-rate - I never warmed to any of the "Wonderfalls" women, including the lead actress, who reminded me of a less talented, more annoying Elizabeth Shue. Glad "Pushing Daisies" is coming back, though.

  • July 30, 2008, 8:08 p.m. CST

    Wonderfalls was great

    by Newmark

Fuller's best show to date and one of my favourite shows ever. Way better overall than Pushing Daisies and Dead Like Me (which I also like). It would be amazing if they brought Jaye Tyler for an episode on Pushing Daisies.

  • July 30, 2008, 8:10 p.m. CST

Getting cancelled has nothing to do with the quality of a show
