PIXAR's UP, not to be confused with Russ Meyer's UP, Teaser Trailer Is... UP!!!
Hey folks, Harry here... I really have no clue about UP - I know that one of our non-Quint AICN agents sat with the director of this... I believe it was Mr Beaks - but I could be confused, because I'm getting old. I really am. But not as old as the guy on the front porch you'll be seeing shortly. Unless you wait to see it when we repost with an Apple HD version - which I have to believe is coming shortly. Here ya go - the latest PIXAR teaser...

...they will also hate"let a house fly with lots of ballons".
-
OMG BEST TEASER EVER ALL OF MY HOPES AND DREAMS FULFILLED!! TWICE!!
Nah, but it's a cute little clip. Won't be in the film though, obviously. -
that means you, douchebag!
-
I've already seen more of this somewhere. Rat DVD maybe. Was there an UP trailer before Wall-E? I got there just in time for the short film. It looks like fun to me. Pixar rules
-
or was that the baloons? weird
-
amazing how far technology has progressed
-
Or does that dude look like one of the old guys from the Muppet show?
-
dont know what to think but who cares , its PIXAR, you know you will go and watch it
-
where is my money for creating finding nemo?
-
WallE looked absolutely incredible but I just didnt get into the story for some reason, it felt to me that it could have easily been 30 minutes shorter and remain about the same. Plus they totally should've used real people for the Axiom passengers like they did with Fred Willard as the president and the peoiplke getting massages from robots in the Buy&Large ads; seeing everything done so insanely real and then having these cartoony humans broke the illusion for me. As for this ballon-house thing.. lame so far...
-
Pixar is at the top of its game....why do you say dumb shit like that just because you hate their movies, you sure as hell talk alot about a studio you cant seem to stand. But saying pixar is done is just seemed to come from nowhere, i truly cannot put the pieces together that would make you say that, because they've had success after success. So what could be stuck up your ass so deep that you'd be bitter enough to critize a company that's stands out and actually delivers prime storytelling.
-
that's not even a typo anymore
-
Just curious Harry. Did you feel like it was covered extensively enough by everybody else? Did you like it at least? I thuoght it was the rare movie that lived up to my own massive hype for it.
-
But if you didn't like it that's ok... Ice Age 3 is coming out soon!
-
booya...finally a flop....i kid, i kid

pull the cord, let the failed catchphrase die with honour.

they should have had fred willard a cartoon. pixar is a animation studio, I dont know what they were thinking. Although they did do that transition thing from real to cartoon with the portraits oof the captains... anybody catch that? they turned more and more animated. maybe they tried to say the fatter humans got, the less real? who knows.
-
Nope, someone screwed up. No teaser attached to Wall-E.
Otherwise, looks interesting as usual for Pixar.
Only one I didn't like was Bugs Life, does that make me odd? -
Too balloony
-
Does this make anyone think at all of Don Hertzfeldt's priceless short about balloons and their designs on children?
-
And it would kick ass! These gods of CG animation can do no wrong (at least so far.) Wall-E was sheer poetry. My only quibble was the live action Fred Willard juxtaposed with CG rendered humans. Kind of takes you out of the movie in those brief moments. Other than that...near perpection. Like getting a blumpkin while eating a hot fudge sundae...
-
This is the main site's intro in decent quality, and it has been since yesterday.
-
But like everyone else says, fuck it...PIXAR really can do no wrong! Even if this turns out to be near the bottom of PIXAR's standards, it would still kick the shit out of 99% of the movies out there!
-
But considering Pixar's track record, there's little to no chance that this will be anything other than great, so I'm in.
Oh, and I don't know what you guys are talking about. Wall-E was genius. -
I'm sure it's just because of the quality of the teaser video but it seems as if pixar just isn't trying w/ this one.
-
Not intrigued.
-
The Muppets. Waldorf gets tired of Stadler and tries to float away.
-
Anybody expecting something more from an old man traveling around the world ARE IDIOTS.I know this film will be good.
-
Don Quioxte!
-
... its about an elderly couple who've lived their whole lives together, always dreaming of exploring the world in a hot air balloon, but the closest they've ever got is the husband selling baloons to kids. one day he decides they should get out of the house more, so they go for a picnic... as they're walking up a hill she collapses and dies. eventually, the lonely old man decides he needs to do something to remember his wife, so he ties a thousand ballons to his house and sets sail for south america; where she always wanted to live. If you search through the archive of aicn you'll find this plot outline somewhere, written much better than i can do. needless to say, it'll be pixars most emotional, and most grown up film to date.
-
Well it IS better Campaign transport than a Golf Cart.
-
this. is. what. i'm. talkin. bout!
-
Wouldn't it have been amazing if Pixar had joined forces with Russ Meyer while the master yet lived? Would the fruits of their work not have been glorious? Pixar should seriously considering remaking CHERRY, HARRY AND RAQUEL.
-
feels like Miyazaki to me...
-
Still have to watch Wall-E
-
You've got to follow your balloon.
Viva la Bob and David ! -
I think the above poster got it wrong. Basically the film starts when the old guy is a young guy. He meets some young girl. They fall in love eventually. The big dream is to goto South America one day. So they save up, but then life keeps getting in the way so they never go. The day he finally buys two tickets, he figures he will surprise her at a picnic. However, she dies at the picnic so his dream of going there kinda dies too. Some boyscout trying to get his senior help merit badge decides to help the old guy out, not realizing that the old guy still wants to goto South America. Eventually they end up rigging some balloon deal which gets them there and starts their adventure. etc etc.
-
But with old people?
-
it's an action/adventure-esque film from Pixar with an old guy and a kid...it's their answer to Kingdom of the Crystal Skull...
-
Whimsical ... heart warming
-
Crazy that Pixar keeps making movies for many many people instead of just for you. My 3 year old loves balloons more than anything else and he will adore this film and I will as well because,at the very least, it will bring him a lot of happiness. But you cannot be happy, now can you? You must bring everything down to your sullen muck pit. Well, you stay there in your sullen muck put while the rest of us enjoy going UP!

To be honest i think im just a shit story teller with a bad memo
by obscura
cos Alientoast told it better than me. remember though this isnt gonna be some boring story of drifting accross the equator in a house. the one piece of concept art we've seen has fighter planes in it. Its a pixar movie! they'll get the tone perfect, but it will also have the potential to reach a much wider and audience than any pixar movie before.
-
...IN YOUR FACE! (I'm just joking...I see you are a stark defender of balloons and all that is balloony.) BTW, did that old dude sound like Bill Cosby?
-
Just ask Neil Patrick Harris!
-
Lame. LOL!

This looks like another endearing one from the Masters at Pixar. How they can take such ordinary things or stereotypes and make them accessible, emotional and meaningful to everyone is nothing short of Genius.
-
Sounds like you'll be the first one in line to see Shrek 4.My litmus test for whether someone has a heart and a pulse is whether they liked Wall-E or not. You obviously do not. What stale environmental message? Don't litter and get up off your fat ass? Wow, what stale messages, you must be a littering fat-ass if that message offended you so.Snorefest. LOL, people will hate anything to be different.
-
it's up there with E.T.....It's a fuckin robot that made me cry. If it's Pixar, my kids can watch it. I filter Dreamworks crap.

But it's DANNY not DONNIE
-
that is all.......
-
That was hilarious. Only Pixar has the balls to make something like that. Hilarious in that it was not epic or anything like you'd expect. Just some old guy sitting on his porch. lol
-
He took my Baloons!!
-
Show me another company that can do that. Pixar is the best. Period.
-
pixar have ever done wrong are Cars and Monsters inc. The rest are gold.
-
I won't spoil anything. I will say this, with movies like Wall-E and Up! I really get the sense that Pixar makes movies for themselves.
-
If Pixar is making movies for themselves, then they have really good taste. More filmmakers should make movies for themselves and more studios should be brave enough to release those films rather than making them to cater to what they think people will like. I'll take a lifetime of Pixar films made by and for the folks at Pixar over a single mass market tested "Epic Movie".
-
Alientoast's early post on the plot of the film is correct, and Ed Asner is the voice of the old man (Carl I think). My friend works over at PIXAR and confirmed the plot, he also said the films world has a sort of 1940's era Rocketeer feel, but animated. Even some film/newsreel type footage and stuff in it. Should be cool. -ED
-
Why didn't somebody tell me he had one of those.......
Things? -
That's all I got.
-
...I knew it.Poor baby can't stand such positive messages like don't litter and don't get fat which somehow bruise his delicate political psyche. Can't just enjoy the movie for what it is, a cute robot love story, you have to inject your stupid politics into it.Moron.
-
Go have lunch in a Rush Room and whine about liberal Hollywood all you want there, no one else cares.

Pixar movie titles are getting shorter and shorter ...

Wall-E, Bolt and now Up. What's next? Q or Z?

Well, not really, but you just briefly pictured how great they would have made all those immense boobs look! Apologies...
-
Remember? Those birds were freakin' funny. My boy made the best sound of laughter. Birds or not, count me interested.
-
Through random internet surfing I stumbled across my ex-wife's YouTube page. While I haven't even thought about that crazy bitch for over ten years, after watching all of her videos (sick, I know...) I feel all sad and melancholy. Does this mean anything?
-
...and I should probably have my Man License revoked for what I'm about to say, but I think I really need to talk to someone. About my....*gasp*...feelings.
-
When he said "afternoon!", I totally laughed out loud. What a bizarre sight.
-
It means you're human and you loved her. But...you didn't have to preface your post with the "I know this sounds uber gay".
-
...a BIT off-topic?
-
...and we'd all watch. Give them some faith.
-
Hey douchebag.... did you know there is a 1000 square mile part of the Pacific fucking Ocean that is nothing but floating trash and plastic? Worse yet, is that plastic when it degrades creates TOXIC WASTE. Yeah, WALL*E's message is just bullshit to you, huh?
-

Seriously. Fucking incredible. It connected with me in an odd way. I kept going back to see it again. I have full, 100% faith in Pixar at this time. Pete Doctor has been there since the beginning with Lasseter and Stanton and Unkrich and Monsters Inc. was great. I'm pumped.
-
Really incredible. And the message wasn't "save the earth" it was "live your life". The movie celebrated individuality. Oh, the mcguffin turned out to be a plant. Oh NO! THEY'RE PREACHING!!! EVERYBODY RUUUUUNNNN!!! Morons.
-
About Wall-e, the message looked too preachy, too green, from what I read from the reviews. Boring.
-
Maybe I could enjoy the movie for what it is, a cute robot love story, if they didn't show earth as a piece of junk and abandoned by humans, or whatever. That's just stupid.
-
either that or he's a blubbering idiot.
-
haha..just kidding.
