The HEROES Season Premiere Just Screened At ComicCon!! Plus News About Never-To-Be-Aired Season-Two Footage!!
SPOILER ALERT !!
I am – Hercules!!
SPOILERS!! The Hollywood Reporter’s James Hibberd, who just saw the “Heroes” third-season premiere at ComicCon, writes:
… at least one character without powers will gain a power. And at least one character presumed dead is not.
Readers are sending in spoilers, cloaked here in invisotext.
* Nathan was shot by FuturePeter.
* Nathan survives, has a vision and now believes he's an angel.
* Matt, having discovered that Peter shot Nathan, is transported by Peter to the middle of the Sahara.
* Sylar removes Claire's skullcap and steals her invulnerability. She survives, of course.
* Syler is repulsed by Claire's suggestion that he eats brains.
* Suresh develops a serum that gives anyone superpowers (just like what happened in "The 4400"!). He makes himself super-strong.
* Hiro, now CEO of Yamagato Industries, finds a formula in his dad's safe that is promptly stolen by the new superspeedy villainess.
* Hiro travels to the future, where he sees FutureAndo attack FutureHiro with lightning-lad powers.
* Noah rots in stir.
* Jessinikki is mistress to a governor.

Hibberd also talks about never-aired now-out-of-continuity “lost” footage, shot before the writers strike, that will go directly to the season-two DVD
:
… Fans will recall, in last season's finale (episode 11), Peter Petrelli stopped a vial from breaking that contained a deadly virus. But in the original ending, the vial broke, which launched the second half of episodes for the season under the book title “Outbreak.” The DVD footage will include the other ending, plus the shot footage from unaired episodes 12 and 13.
Find all of Hibberd’s story on the matter here.
And send your reviews of that season premiere to herculesAICN@yahoo.com!!

Would have been better than the shit that we got to see.
-
Here's hoping the show is put back on track.
-
...Lost, Rising Stars? Is the writing still garbage?
-
Elle?
-
I can not see myself watching any more than about a third of the second season episodes ever again. Hopefully this season will improve.
-
its in the mst3k thread...and if it comes off as written...im not excited...ya we know, linderman is still alive....ya we know, they go back to do at least one arc from one of the future timelines...ya we know that sale is happy to be working (alimony is a bitch) and we know that the fans in attendence were gonna go ga ga cuz that is what happens when you have to get to the con at 6 am for a 10 am panel...its called sleep deprivation....ok gophers, i know one of you guys has your hands on the screener...torrent that bitch so we can get to ripping it apart
-
...some fans who camped out at 8PM LAST NIGHT to get into the Heroes panel this morning. Hope it was worth it, guys and gals...
-
shit, i would come up with a myriad of reasons not to attend the con...but fucking maya is still on the show
-
http://tinyurl.com/5aoymc
-
i thought the con doesnt allow that shit...its kinda in the guidelines...next thing you know, theyll be letting in tweeners who hate comic geeks just so they can make google eyes at that dude who voldemort killed
-
is still gainfully employed? And get this, guys; she was nominated for an ALMA award for her role on the show (National Council of LaRaza). I shit you not.
-
look at her...you know she could suck the chrome off a bumper
-
Shitty enough for the show to get a third season reward... wait a second...
What the hell....??? -
but, did they go back to the drawing board and do a revamp?? nope... they went back to the first year storylines that worked...and that is fucking lazy writing...like i said, kring should be put into a room and forced to watch venture bros...dont you think those guys could take it easy and just do the same bits over and over? but they havent...
-
To which I will not forgive Kring anytime soon, is that When in Rome, her new movie, took the maximum amount of time to shoot; three full months, pretty much. Filming ended 2 weeks ago or so, and she's back in LA (she was a presenter on the ESPYs), and is in the same position that Big Brown was in the Belmont - epically behind on shooting her five remaining episodes of Heroes.
And Bell's been a fixture at ComicCon the past 3-4 years, whether to promote Veronica Mars or Fanboys (which looks like it's being released THIS September, and the original version).
At this point, I want her to have a "Claude out", as in the possibility of coming back down the road. But I fear Elle is going to be Sylar'd like so many others have before. And then I'll bid the show adieu and bide my time until BSG 4.5 in January. -
They've so thoroughly fucked this up, not once, but several times, that I should think it would be clear that the audience has moved on to greener pastures. We're sick of bad finales, forced and worthless sub-plots, grating characters, illogical twists, and plot holes you could drive a team of oxen through. We're sick of being moved toward what *should* be a balls-out, amazing confrontation between two super-powered individuals, only to have the confrontation peter out and embarrass us for ever trusting in Heroes.
Heroes is one of the biggest disappointments in television history; A show with amazing potential, but it Always. Misses. The. Mark.
I was a big supporter of this show before Season One's dismal failure of a climax. I was a hopeful supporter of the show during Season Two, but that soon turned to disgust as they missed many great opportunities, wedged in characters I really couldn't give a shit about, and squandered every ounce of coolness Hiro and Peter had earned on silly, trite plotlines that shoved them into the background, or just made them acting like fucking morons.
I think half of us in Talkback could have written a better season two, and we most certainly could have written a better ending to season one.
And I bet I know the biggest reason this show has turned to a dismal pile of suck: The budget. They purposely avoid confrontations between characters because they don't want to blow money on special effects.
It says a lot when the formerly cheap-ass BBC is spending a shit-ton on effects for the formerly cheap-looking Doctor Who (and thus resuscitating it into their top show), and NBfuckingC can't be bothered to pony up the cash to give us a decent super-power fight for the season finale of their then-biggest new hit show.
-
and get into some detail about where they would have gone on the DVD. I will probably go rent the one with the missing episode. It will be interesting to see if they put bits of it back into season 3. I hope Kring is right that season 3 is a return to form. It still smells a bit like an unfortunate combination of attempting to recreate a formula and pandering.
-
they reveal the shooter at least and a cool sounding sylar scene.
-
Sorry, but Maya is going to be Heroes' own Kim Bauer, I think; as in effing annoying and grating. Besides, Bell runs up the score on Ramirez, acting-wise. I don't give a fuck if the latter was on the Sopranos.
-
BBC ran out of money for episodes of Who this season a number of times. That is why they dropped the whole Shadow Proclimation stuff from the finale.
-
shoestring TV budget.
-
i know she appeared all gung ho...but going from veronica mars to playing a semi retard who gets off on sending electrical shocks into her bf is fucking wierd...the whole season was convoluted...but the person im most dissapointed with is loeb...that man should know better and he shoulda pointed out shit when it was shit..and if the producers want to send shockwaves through the geek community....give a guest star role to wil wheaton...dude has started acting again (hes doing an epi of criminal minds) and make him a villian...thomas jane is the king of geeks, wheaton is the prince...and while he would prefer to have gotten something on galactica, im sure he wouldnt turn down heroes (oh, and i would kill him at the end of the story arc so those who wanted wesley to die will finally have closure)
-
Ahh, yes, but just look at the number of episode of Who with big effects, versus the number of effects they use in Heroes. . . It's sad that they couldn't do more at NBC.
-
That would be the smart thing to do.
-
except for maya...looks like season 2 was a total dream...and whos with me on getting wil wheaton on board
-
like Kring says, they had 4 days off from Season 1 to Season 2, and were also forced to change the finale at the last minute. If you're finishing the shows at the last minute, there isn't a ton of time to put in effects. That isn't to say I'm only blaming NBC. Kring and the rest of the production needs to figure out their big moments and plan them better, or figure out a way to go into production earlier to allow more time for post. They seem to treat this show like a typical TV drama as far as scheduling goes. With that said, I'm much more likely to forgive bad effects if the writing is there.
-
I'd like seeing Wheaton as a villian, and yes I always wanted him to die on TNG.
-
btw, his new book, the happiest days of our lives is fucking great
-
what a piece of shit.
-
little time between seasons but they were able to introduce 5 new characters...if you cant write good arcs for them, dont introduce them...and was it the short period of time that caused them to neuter hrg?...bad writing is due to bad writers....kring has surrounded himself with sycophants...go look at the credits and see how many first time writers he has used...everyone who has worked as his assistant...now writers gotta get their start somewhere, but shit, the whole thing seems inestuous...especially since it seems they cant write for shit...heres a fucking concept...why not do what lost did and hire at least one more writer from the comics industry...
-
dubbed films suck ass...dubbed dialogue sucks ass...why are americans so fucking lazy that they cant figure out how to read and pay attention at the same time? for the same reason, so many americans cant read a comic book, they get confused by the words and pictures
-
Cause this show really jumped back at the end of Season 1.
-
weak, sooo weak, felt no guilt on reading the spoilers, my faith in heroes is gone. Will still watch it of course.
-
I like foreign movies to have subs (not dubbed), but when it's on TV, and it's an American-produced show that is for an English-speaking audience, expecting us to read 3/4 of the show is kind of stupid.
There's nothing wrong with doing the Star Trek/Hunt for Red October trick where the actors speak English but it's implied that it's been translated from the character's native language. Hell-- This is how comic books do it, too. They don't print Japanese and then put subtitles on each panel.
It's not about "dumbing down" the show. It's about not alienating the primary audience and taking their eyes off the actors' faces for the majority of the show. When you're featuring SO MANY different languages (English, Gaelic, Japanese, Spanish, so far) you have to expect that this will mean your audience will be looking at the bottom of the screen in any of those scenes.
Another consideration with television as opposed to movies: Local stations and networks have fucking watermarks, scrolls, messages, and other crap at the bottom of the screen, and it's pretty fucking inconsiderate to make us read a crucial scene's dialogue when the chances are high that we'll miss it because it's being covered by some advertisement, news flash, or Amber Alert.
TV is not conducive to subtitles. -
with subtitles, and the way that heroes did it the first season, made it seem like reading a comic with text bubbles...and who needs the inviso text...the live blog told us all that shit...right down to the ripoff of 4400....why were the fans getting excited by this shit? im feeling the same way i did after the initial pilot, and this time, i dont think i will warm back up to the show
-
WUT'S GOIN ON IN DIS HERE FRED?
-
Just make a Hero with the babelfish power to translate language for everyone within range, and make sure she's in every scene with foreign languages.
It's less elegant than the TARDIS, but it fits Heroes' lameness. -
...live blog? Hell, the crappy promo showed punjab injecting himsef and I thought the back-from-the-dead characater was ali larter.
-
and as hiro couldnt speak english at the beginning (a plot hole after we find out that he is the ceo's son, but whatever) how else did you want them to do it...and if your station is running fucking crawls...fuck them....crawls are stupid...they are designed for the viewer with a fuckin short attention span...and will someone please end the scenes from other shows or next week that obliterate credits??? guess what, i like credits...i like to find out who played the mail man and who the gaffer was and i like to see my clients names up on the screen
-
They better start 3 with a bang or my Tivo is erased of Heroes!
-
we've all reverted back to the venerated and reliable "shit the bed."
-
"shit the bed" will be replaced by "hired Chris Gore" in six months.
-
Welcome back, friend :)
-
Hope your summer is going nicely, it's hot as hell here. Sadly, based on the promos alone, this upcoming season looks bad. And no Belle, eh? At all?
-
and what about Journeyman's replacement...Christian Slater? Really?
-
4400....im sick of all these people...im sick of the fans that let them get away with this shit...shit the bed, nuke the fridge...whatever....kring said he understood what bothered people about last season....uh,uh tim...you didnt...if you did, then the entire first episode would have been filled with SIDE BOOB
-
oh goody, i get to do my dk rant...great visually, but...motherfucker, if you are gonna take from 3 different story arcs, do it well....bat cult from dkr, used in first 15 minutes then poof, its gone....pieces of long halloween but not the good ones and shit, you cannot use the killing joke stuff between a joker and a bat who barely know each other...i dont want to kill you cuz you are too much fun??? wtf?? that works if they have been arching for 20 years...but they just met...a little forward of the joker dont ya think...but i will give credit where credit is due...i like the origin of twoface much better in the movie than in the comic...i never got why lex luthor was so pissed about being bald that he became bad, and scarring a prosecutor shouldnt have been enuf to send him over the edge...but that scene from the movie sure wouldve...and that is my rant...oh, and morgan freeman is a fucking god
-
Honestly. I didn't care for it that much.
-
...that WAS a rant.
-
you should see my rant on the last potter film
-
Bell's a hotter commodity coming off Forgetting Sarah Marshall than pretty much the rest of the cast. Leaving her off the panel today was just disrespectful to her, to her fans. I don't think management was as enthusiastic enough as she was to want to come back for more than the five episodes she has left. And if today didn't prove we're on a countdown clock to KB's departure from the show, few things will. This show needs all the good will it can get, and positioning Maya the way they're doing tells me they haven't learned any of their mistakes from season 2.
-
he is taller and cuter...and he has bigger boobs
-
outside of industrykiller you have got to be the biggest, whinnyest cunt to inhabit talckbacks and that's not an easy feat to accomplish. My man, push away from the computer, grab some fresh air it will do you some good. Getting this bent over a mediocre TV show isn't worth it.Oh by the way, I'm fluent in Spanish and found the fact they were speaking Spanish with subtitles annoying as shit. Its a show for a predominantly English speaking audiences just have them speak English. Like others have pointed out, make some bullshit up to cover the translation.VegasRon long time no see.
-
Seriously? ($1 to Grey's Anatomy). And Xiphos?? That you? How are things?
-

-
Hope things are going good.
Let me defend bacci here. He was one of those "give the show a chance" types early in S2 before jumping off the bandwagon with both guns blazing, so I give him mad props for that. -
Why is it a plot hole that a Japanese boy raised in Japan doesn't speak English?
-
I was on the give it a chance band wagon for a while also. I just don't see the point about getting bent over a show, that even when it was good, that is the 6 or so episodes the first season, was fairly mediocre most of the time.I'll give this season a go but its on a very short leash for me. Any stench wafting off of it that reeks of season two, then I'm done.Yes Pennsy this is Xiphos. Things are well and you?
-
and xiphos 1 or 2, whoever the fuck you are...unlike you, i work 7 days a week, mostly from desk area...and right now im setting up 2 computers and removing viruses from another...so my choice is either to stare at those screens or bitch here...i choose to bitch here...you dont have to read my posts...really, you dont...
-
when we first meet hiro, he is a cubicle guy...so it makes sense that he doesnt speak english...but then we learn he is the son of a big ceo...puts him in a higher class, he wouldve also had english classes if he were to take over a multi national...its the same thing that bugs me about lost...those from the upper classes in both korea and japan learn english in school...its a fact
-
I still cannot understand the huge success of HEROES. The characters are extremely unlikable and un-Heroic, and the overall message of the show is that to be a hero you have to have a power (which I don't agree with). But the most frustrating thing about the show is that every single idea has been stolen from another source, and copied without the poetry, elegance or inteligence of the origional. MARVLEMAN, ZENITH, WATCHMEN, X-MEN:- DAYS OF FUTURE PAST and 4400 all did is first and considerably better. And after genre shows like BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, BABYLON 5, DR WHO, BUFFY & ANGEL, how does shit like this find such a large and eager audience? Why did FIREFLY get 13 episodes, and craps on for at least 3?
-
In high school I sat in on one class where the English teacher was teaching the students a popular American song. There was probably about 5 or 6 other American high school boys observing with me and we couldn't understand the words he was saying, none of us knew the song, and he was spelling most of the words wrong on the board. While most Japanese students have some English classes, it is a bit like people who take a language in the U.S. and then forget it as soon as the semester is over. Hiro's dad pretty much kept him out of the day-to-day of his company and sheltered him. I also got the feeling his dad was always complaining about Hiro being a dissapointment was because he was kinda a fuckup and probably wasn't very studious, but I'm not sure if I'm remembering that part of it all that well.
-
It's about the budget -- why we don't see much direct contact between super-powered characters here. But that's something that could be fixed if Kring were a better producer/writer; is it impossible to spread things out where at every 4-to-6 episodes there's a special effects extravaganza? These spoilers we're reading here -- they don't impress me much, not because I think they're bad. But each plot spoiler suggests to me that there will be a lot of narrative set-up involved that will be stretched out across several episodes, which will ultimately lead to climaxes/conflicts that will be underwhelming and disappointing.A third problem is that the writers don't know how to write compelling stuff for the hot female characters. They don't really know what to do with them (Claire, Jessica/Nikki, Elle, Maya). Yes, they have done a lot of stuff with Jessica/Nikki, but when you look back at everything, not much adds up satisfyingly about her.
-
and powerless to do anything about it. It took them a third of a year, her and Kring/NBC/Universal just to agree that she'll only be in 5 episodes. She's AWOL from the premiere. Appalling use of assets purchased, Mr. Kring. If they were really serious about keeping her around, they'd have backed up a Brinks truck to her front door full of money. But they're not. They almost want her gone, IMO. The ComicCon snub just grates on my singular last nerve.
-
Because the powers that be assigns those Nielsen Boxes to fucktards.
-
got ahold of this show. They would not only show Kring and his rank amatuers how it's done, but show them how pathetically inept they are/were in their execution and story arc plotting. Kring and co. should be thoroughly embarrassed by that let down of a first season finale ep.
-
He has no sci-fi cred to begin with. His previous show running experience was with "Crossing Jordan" which also started out promising with a major character story-arc; but then mysteriously dropped it for stand alone episodes for it's final seasons. So this mess is nothing but someone who had a great idea but did not know how to carry it through, and is now tossing everything at the wall to see what will stick! No none will die (thanks to Claire's blood), so no dramatic tension... sigh... anyway. I will watch, but not rrally care as I used to.
-
Parts of season 1 were good (e.g. Christopher Eccleston appearing) and I actually liked some of the characters then, particularly Hiro and Ando. But Kring so obviously had nothing to offer above around 15 episodes or so. Could have been cool as a one season show with a huge showdown at the end. But they belived their own hype, fucked up the show, failed so hard. And the season 3 opener sounds horrible.
-
So Claire has her head opened up, her healing factor removed, but survives in order to get it back later in the season. Yeah, that's all I need to hear.
-
For example, maybe they could kill off Hiro -- and then somehow FutureHiro still exists and he steps in to replace the original Hiro. (I'm not saying that I personally want them to kill off normal-regular Hiro, but am citing this as an example of the kind of risks this series must take.)
-
A few things: The line to Hall H was ridiculously long (2 miles). Leaving Lost fans, like me, horrendously angry that a bunch of 12-14 year olds and their parents are taking up the good seats for Heroes. The cast was late, Jeff Leob showed up (to which many fanboys began to clap [he wrote the long halloween!!!]). Leob desperately tried to entertain the crowd by seeing which side could cheer louder. Suddenly, i was at a high school pep rally. The cast finally shows up with Kring, who I have never seen before, but I had imagined him looking like that. THey show the episode, and I was rolling my eyes for half of it. I did watch season 1, when Fuller was still on the show. Thought it was entertaining, but not compelling television. Season 2 was an unmitigated disaster. Season 3 tries to reconcile for said disaster, by getting straight to the point. Yes, there were a few cool things: *SPOILERS*: Claire-bear getting her scalp ripped off, Ando blasting Hiro, Peter shooting Nathan, BUT everything just comes off as kitsch, cheesy, camp, whatever you want to call it. The acting is as horirble as ever (Mohinder), the direction is sloppy and somewhat childish, the production value seems like a set off 24 or CSI, and the plot is growing exponentially ridiculous (i.e. a super soldier theorem? come on.). The audience seemed to agree. Some unintentional laughs from the wrong places, a lot of scoffs, etc. When the show was odne, there was a large section of people not clapping. Most of the questions addressed to the panel were middleaged women wanting to see Milo or kids who wanted to say "Silo" was the most "awesomest" character. Boo-urns, Heroes. Boo-urns.
-
daring to this show is making petrelli a jesus freak (oh wait, im bitching again) go through the description of epi one...kring and his team really think that rebooting the series from the epi before the final epi of season 1 is the way to go...good luck to them
-
from other on-site reports. That's why the Heroes cast was delayed in arriving. If doesn't make up for the hassle you suffered this morning, billy, but at least it explains things.
-
I'd TOTALLY hate it. I fucking hate Buffy, Firefly, and everything that is even remotely related to Whedon. He totally fucked up X-Men by rehashing old Chris Claremont stories, and he only appeals to his die-hard fans. The rest of us rightly remember him for shit like "What happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning?" and Alien3, and tried to watch his "amazing" Buffy only to find it childish and lame.
Heroes already sucks enough without the Buffyverse writers totally turning it to runny dogshit.
Fuck. If you're going to give it to someone else, give it to Rob Zombie. He'll make it fucking interesting, at least. And maybe we'll get to see his wife half-naked again. -
The Watchmen animated graphic novel on iTunes kicks Heroes' ass, and HARD. First episode's free-- And if others cost a bit, it will be worth it.
And please, get over the whining about Apple and iTunes. It's the dominant video/audio distribution system now. It has been for years. DEAL WITH IT. Complaining about iTunes based on not liking Apple is like complaining about watching "Sarah Connor Chronicles" on FOX, because they're related to FOX NEWS. If you're going to boycott something, then go after Viacom and their subsidiaries; Not Apple. Viacom is the company that's going to fuck up the Internet (and your privacy) but good if they get their way. -
would you like some cheese with your whine? If you had any skill you wouldn't have to work seven days a week. Then you could go outside, get some fresh air maybe some sunlight and perhaps a large dose of Midol or a fresh tampon. The one your using is full.
-
When has Kring ever demonstrated that he had any ability to make good decisions?
-
And then it just unraveled in S2; if Kristen hadn't been signed up, I probably would have bailed fairly early, at the second or third time I heard "Maja!" "Alehandrohhhh!"
Good news, perhaps; I've heard from several folks in the TV Without Pity message boards that KB will be in the second episode. So that's something to look forward to. Sylar now pretty much being invincible stealing Claire's regeneration power...not so much. -
Zombie is a talentless fucking hack.
Fucking fanboy. -
...anything that had anything to do with any good in that show was all on Fuller.
-
...anything that had anything to do with any good in that show was all on Fuller.
-
Hollywood figured out with X-Men and Spider-Man that they had a huge market for superhero properties. Now they try to crank them out as cheap and generic as possible. Shit like FF, the new Hulk, the Daredevil and Elektra films. Heroes is the ultimate result.
-
times are kinda hard now, so i gotta be available at all times...must be nice being a man of leisure...but if you would like to see skill, post your public ip
-
the way we are reading it, you all got up en masse to applaud at the end...the episode as described seems extremely disjointed...is it possible that what you were watching was scenes from multiple timelines? and that there might be a plan afterall?
-
4400 the mini series was fantastic. then it went down that shit slope downwards and fast. heroes is in exactly the same place now, and now they are coping 4400 storyline adds to the general prophets of doom for this series. when you're in a tailspin downwards you need time to look at everything and figure out whats going wrong. lost did it. remember when things started waning in the second season? they pulled out all the stops. 24 has now hit that barrier and hopefully with the time off they'll be able to some up with some decent storylines.
its evident that nbc heads don't give a fuck about their shows. this was their most popular and now its turned to shit. because they didn't want to invest. bring some writers on there. yes, mutant enemy writers would get this on track!. up the budget, get some fx on this shit it supposed to be about heroes for god damm sake. bsg do it on a shoestring. it doesnt have to be an all out war. rememerbt hat scene when peter through claude off that roof top and flew straight up? im sure that didn't cost the earth, but that nugget was brilliant.
still kring, you've had ample time now to get it right. if you come up with shit for ideas, ( which it seems from the spoilers you have) you'll have no one to blame but yourself and no one will give you another chance. fool me once same on me, fool me twice, well fuck you!
last but not least, i shall never forgive NBC for fucking up journeyman.Never.that could have been your jewel, and you let it slip out of your fingers. cunts -
you've had all the time in the world to get it right. if you cant do it now you never will. and fuck you nbc for fucking up journeyman, it truly was the jewel in your crown.
-
why are you guys so pissed it got cancelled?
-
I wouldn't say en masse. There was obviously a lot of enthusiasm. For god sakes, it was a panel dedicated to Heroes, it wouldnt be right to have no scattering of applause. But from where I was sitting (pretty close, around where the beginning of the second waves of seats began), there was a lot of negative reaction, or no reaction at all. The negatives would be a lot of headshakes or scoffs. No reactions would be no clapping, or people just on their laptops, etc. The whole front row got up an appluaded, but that's expected. 14 year olds with "MILO! WE WAITED ALL NIGHT FOR YOU" that lined up the previous night before? It wasn't a mass applaud for the show, it was definitely for the cast (i.e. Milo). The whole front row left right when it was over, indicating that they didnt care about Lost (or any of the other panels afterwards, i.e. Terminator, Pineapple Express, etc.). I get the narrative, it was simple enough to understand. The biggest critique Heroes has always had is the grandfather paradox, while other mediums of pop culture (i.e. Lost, Slaughterhouse Five, etc.) explain time travel in a way that would be realistically, if not scientifically, plausible; heroes has too many loopholes. Parallel universes aside, the whole narrative is contrived and outdated.

it's amazing how the creator of this show never saw a comic book
by rupee88
yeah i'm being a quasi-troll but this lame show always annoys me...the first few eps of Season 1 were good and then it just got stupid.
-
someone name a show that turned to shit faster than this! GO!
-
I was there... There was more than smattering of clapping...or head shaking.
I was there in the back road...there was a LOT of clapping and hurrahing.
It was a very enjoyable episode, and kept the pacing up from the end...they are keeping the break neck speed that the left off on.
And yeah, there were several, "Oh Shit" moments
by The Guy Who Slept Through Everything. -
A good chunk of the audience was there for LOST panel afterwards...you probably got stuck in that crowd.
-
let me try to put it into context. i did say that, yes, it was OBVIOUSLY a heroes panel, what i failed to mention clearly was that the fact that it was a panel directly marketed toward the show, it was a surprise (or maybe it wasnt) that the whole damn hall wasnt going ballistic. I was there the morning before for Watchmen, and let me tell you, that was an audience that was giving a mass applaud. Yes, there was some enthusiasm, but the weakest ive ever seen for a hall h show with the line STRETCHED out 2 miles. You also proved my point, yes, most (i would say) people were there for LOST, hence the low amount of enthusiasm. On the contrary, i never said that heroes was NOT a popular show, I'm just saying, in context, that it's reception was not as highly recognized as Jeff Loeb would like to believe.
-
I've never heard "shit the bed"
-
You realize that running the order board at In-N-Out doesn't exactly qualify as "Tech".Being a man of lesiure is AWESOME! I highly recommend you try it some day if you're able. The help brings me my food, I play a vigorous round of tennis, followed by some skeet shooting then a nap. After that I hit the Party circuit in the Hamptons. My man I apologize for calling you a cunt that one was a tad too much. I stand by the rest though you do whine quite a bit.

Shit the bed was the prefered nomenclature prejump the shark.

I hope NBC has been paying attention to the success of all the superhero movies.
A well done story is gonna get eyes on the screen. -
online is a bit like making fun of the Joker for how he got his scars. You aren't proving a point, and you don't even know if what you are mocking is the truth.
-
This is yet another example of why people hate fanboys.
Everybody watches the show - they bring in Kristen Bell - and then when KB leaves, these fans follow and don't come back. So, basically, what happened was this: you've taught the networks that bringing in KB is POISON to them, so she won't get a job ever again thanks to YOU on series television. "If we bring her in, people will vacate when she leaves!" -
NBC and other studios aren't making their decisions based on Pennsy alone.

I say this every Heroes Talkback. But here it is again: If Jeph Loeb is involved in any way, this show will continue to suck. He's a mediocre hack who has no innovative ideas of his own and writes only in cliche. His only true talent is working with artists that the fans like. And before you say "but..but he wrote The Long Halloween!" Read it again. Go ahead. I'll wait. Ready? The Long Halloween had goregeous art and a decent setup. What it also had was an anding that sucked a bag of dicks. So there were three killers? Really? And the world's greatest detective couldn't tell that they were done by three different people? It's called forensics, people. A gun fired at the same place by three different people of three different heights will leave three different entry wounds. That's not that hard to figure out.
Especially if you're the world's greatest detective who is also a billionaire and has a shitload of forensics computers. Maybe his computers were running on Vista. So, Loeb wrote a mystery in which the killer was 3 different people. Maybe. One or more of the killers could be lying. So Batman, the world's greatest detective is outsmarted by a housewife? ohhhh-kay. And he wrote a sequel that was supposed to answer all the questions that were left unanswered. Like how come Batman couldn't figure out a crime. But it answered NOTHING. There's still a murderous housewife who not only put one over on Batman, but then moved out of Gotham and disappeared. Anything that Loeb writes stinks of that kind of lack of logic, but all the fanboys notice is the pretty art which he had nothing to do with, since he's not an artist and they always give him a free pass. The Season 1 finale and the entirety of Season 2 of Heroes stinks of the kind of cliche hackery that Loeb is famous for, so as long as he's involved, you can count me out of season 3 -
Wait, you mean they expected people to actually believe people still die in this show? After Claire and Peter gained the ability to save people from death itself? Oh ok
-
That's not the same as jump the shark. I shant explain why. Nuke the fridge is, intent-wise, but doesn't make sense.
-
i always thought that the only reason he was on the show was because he has street cred...its apparent they dont spend alot of time talking to him, or else he would be telling them how much the scripts seem taken right from other comic book and tv series stories...and the fun of long halloween wasnt in the end, it was the getting there...but ya, were it not for sale's art, it probably woulda sucked
-
I said he'd be better than Joss Whedon, and he would be; Any day, Any time. I'd rather watch the first 40 minutes of Halloween three times in a row than have to watch another five minutes of Buffy-style bantering between "quirky" characters on some Mutant Enemy bilge-trap of a show.
-
Agree 100%. "Long Halloween" was pretty typical DC looks-over-content work, which we've been seeing a lot of lately. It seems like the powers-that-be at DC figured out that if they get a kickass artist to do some cool, dark, stylish poses of The Batman and his rogues gallery, that they can consider story a secondary focus.
As long as Batman comics LOOK badass, the fanboys will buy them and declare Batman the coolest motherfucker in the world.
Of course, I'm not giving a pass to Marvel here, either. I'm still fucking pissed off over the whole "Brand New Day" fuck-over. I can deal with them making Mary Jane and Peter "not married", but making his identity secret again, bring Harry back from death, and turning Pete into the juvenile, down-on-his-luck fuck-up he was in the fucking 1970s was not a welcomed change... But I know what was going through Marvel and Joe Q's heads: They wanted to get the comic in line with the Sony movie franchise to appease people who hadn't been reading the damn book for the past 30 years.
WTG fucknuts. You've alienated the core audience, and picked up a bunch of lookiloos that will stop reading the book after their initial curiosity wears off.
At least Secret Invasion doesn't suck as much as Final Crisis. -
From 'House of 10,000 Corpses'? Classic!
-
i don't man, i wanna have hope this will be good but... just... wow.
-
was there anything at comicon about the cartoon Spectacular Spider-Man? Its the only Spider-Man I bother to keep up with.
-
The first season there was dread and you were not confident who would survive and who wouldn't. Now even when characters die I shrug knowing they will return. Season 3 kill Peter or Claire and Sylar make the audience feel uneasy about who will survive and who will not. That is the way to save the show.
-
Sounds like a Spud maneuver in Trainspotting. Quick question, though: can any of the principal actors in this series even remotely credible, even when they're not given rancid, three-day-old dialogue to rehash?
-
However, you are wrong in assuming that because there were Lost fans there, there were less Heroes fans.
But being a San Diego Comic Con goer, you realize that they DO NOT CLEAR THE ROOMS BETWEEN EVENTS! And since Lost was immediately AFTER Heroes, Most LOST fans got into line early in the morning as well. I would say it was about 50-50.
I know a LOT of Heroes fans couldn't get in because of the Lost fans. I don't blame the Lost fans for not being as enthusiastic.
But the Heroes fans that WERE there were enthusiastic about it. The haters were there to hate. Or watch Lost. Some were there for both.
And I maintain tht they were more enthusiastic when they left than when they went in. -
Everything I post from now on will have that as the subject line. Ok, maybe not.

Not that any of these crazed AICN fanboys can look past their mental instability and hero-worship of Heath's performance. (Which is totally worthy of worship, but doesn't save TDK from a buttload of plot holes and useless subplots).
-
I'm sick of reading your Bell worship every time a Heroes update gets posted. Elle sucked! Bell was AT BEST adequate. Nothing special. So shut up. I hope Maya kills her! And not even with powers, just kicks the shit out of her with a lead pipe.
-
Yeah, I understand the whole setup was horrible since its conception. While I was waiting in that horrendous line, most of the people were talking about how ridiculous to put these panels back to back. While I can see why the Con would do that, it's just that a lot of fans from each respective show will be turned away. I especially felt bad for Heroes fans, as I saw a lot of DHARMA shirts in the audience. I see we agree on the demographics of Hall H, but my original intention was to bring to light how bad the episode was. While I admit that the use of the fact that there was a lack of response does not serve as a validation, I still believe that the show has lost whatever momentum it gained in season 1. I looked at it objectively, like if I have never seen an episode of Heroes, what would I think of it? It wasn't so much the narrative, but everything else about it (acting, writing, direction, set design, production value, etc.). Plus, the webisode they showed before was probably the single worst thing I saw that weekend.
-
Ah, Manimal, perfect early 80's pablum from NBC. A dopey, dopey show, yet I watched all, what six?, episodes they aired. About Riptide, I commend the writers of the show for including the old Sikorsky S-58T helo as the third character, the screaming mimi. How can you not like a pink painted helo with a fierce grimmace and fangs on its nose piece?

I also was there. It sort of has potential... but so many probl
by iamnicksaicnsn
They showed the last online episode which of course was complete garbage. So horribly written. But alright, the first problem with the season is the opposite problem with last season. Whereas 2 moved too slow, this is moving way too fast. Any sort of development of characters and story went so quickly it just seemed stupid and cheesy. Another problem, again I guess related to the speed of the pace, was the acting. If you rush everything, you give the actors shitty lines, and they WILL say those lines as good as they can get, which equals garbage. The only really good line was Sylar's eating brain's comment. Another obvious mistake was bringing back Ali Larter, and even Nathan Patrelli. If no one dies, there is absolutely NO fear and no dread. It was retarded of future-Peter to put present-Peter in a cell next to Claire's dad, but I guess that will lead to them breaking out. Besides, if Peter was so powerful, why couldn't he just use his powers to escape? What else... Oh, the Hiro stuff in the office sucked balls. How lame do you have to get: "I don't want to just sit here and wait for my destiny!" *knock on door* Someone hands Hiro a package. "He says this package is a message from my father, and it is my destiny!" I also was offended that the ENTIRE panel was one big commercial for Heroes as opposed to being an actual panel where we get to actually talk to them, but I guess the elevator can be blamed for that...

Stupid title cutter-offer
-
The Mohinder and Maya stuff. Their artificially manifested romance. Their horrible back and forths. Maya is such a terrible character, still. Maybe it's just the writing... Oh, and when Hiro meets the Flash-Girl, the fact that AGAIN he just gets punched in the face and meanders off, when we just spent an entire season with him in the past learning to become a samurai, you'd think he'd learn a thing or two about fighting. At least when someone says "you're going to be on the floor" You'd think he'd realize that he's about to get his dumb-ass knocked out. Which is exactly what happened. I mean, fucking hell.
-
No matter how much you dress up the argument, it still boils down to looking like that.
-
That in fact, sucked ass. I was so damn embarrassed that was even shown as a "Special event" for Comicon.
Actually watching the video that NBC has up, I can tell why you thought why you thought you did. From the back there was a lot more cheering going on, but maybee I was surrounded by Hero fanatics. It wasn't like it was an overwhelming "OMFG" like Watchmen. But it wasn't the "rejection" of the materials as is being painted. I think the best thing to say that people are "cautiously optimistic"
Hiro's stuff was prime Hiro stuff, what can I say... He's a bit more humorous than other characters. But for me, personally, I saw it on par with some of the weaker episodes of season one and some of the better episodes of season 2. What I liked about it was the fact that they hit the ground running.
As iamnicksaicnsn mentioned, it has potential...which is something that the season two opener seems to have lacked.
Out of curiosity-did eveyone hate ALL of season two? I personally thought-once Matt faced his father, the series picked up great amount of steam. -
Any opinion on the Mohinder gives himself new powers plot? Did it play as bad as it sounds? Most of the things I read about this sound like they could at least be potentially interesting, but that one just sounds wrong and has implications of forcing some pretty long plots of wrongness. Even if you were to give Mohinder an extra power, it seems like they gave him the worst one for his character. I kinda expect episode 1 to be a bit of a clusterfuck. They wrote themselves into so many last minute corners at the end of last season with the soap opera ad-ons like shooting Nathan and blowing up Nikki without any plan to deal with it.
-
There were good parts of season 2, which made the bad parts even more frustrating because the good parts came late and weren't consistent. Matt's dad was cool. I liked the memory muscle girl's intro, but they had no real plan for what to do with her. I liked most of the finale until they tacked on the "who shot Nathan" ending. Nikki's ending was even worse. Parkman, Peter and Nathan's story should have ended in the vault. I liked Hiro's visit with his father just before he died and his father lecturing him on how they should not act like Gods just because they can. Pretty much the whole episode where Noah gets shot in the face is good, but it also can be seen as enforcing the consequence free reset button.
-
is that he really gets it so easily. "Oh my god, I've magically figured out how to give everyone powers after basically no time spent on trial and error. How cool will it be to have telepathy or super-strength or whatever!" "Don't you realize there are many evil people and powers out there, essay??" "Well I'll spend a brief second debating whether to throw the syringe into the sea!" Of course, he doesn't, and injects himself, and then some muggers come and try to take his money and his watch while Mohinder's on the ground recovering from the shock. And suddenly he has super-strength. I think it would have been much more interesting if he had some evil power just like Maya predicted he would get. That way there could be some conflict for him, wondering just what to do with the drug. But yeah, I didn't think it played well at all, and the special effect of him throwing one of the muggers was pretty poor. I guess the fact the he faces zero conflict over the potential for good for the drug that will lead to future Ando and many others getting powers. And I can only assume that Nathan Petrelli, with the whole "Angel" thing, will see this as a threat and want to fight it. How can they be the chosen ones if everyone can have a power? Jeez, I can already see the horrible direction this season is going to take.
-
and the absurdity of his story line. Hiro just got lectured by his father about not playing God all the time, and what does he do? Opens the safe, just like his father told him not to, and decides that he can't go to the past to stop himself from opening the case, but he can go to the future where we see yet ANOTHER apocalyptic future.
-
Youre probably right. There is some potential, but its sullied by how bad the episode turned out to be. On page, Claire getting chopped open, Ando killing Hiro, and Peter shooting Nathan looks cool, but it was badly executed. Here's to hoping I'm wrong.
-
Some people are mad about the people that they are supposedly bringing back, I'm mad from seeing favorite characters get killed - like that's some sort of deep story telling. Bad, stupid, boring and insipid story telling punctuated by senseless character deaths had me changing the channel early on in last season. I don't even know what happened after the story went to subtitles, illegal aliens and that new blonde chick every geek was blathering over. If by some miracle it gets good again I'm sure I'll hear about it here but until then I'm not holding my breath. A pity, the show has promise.
-
Who were you mad that they killed? The only one I was dissapointed to see die was the pixie girl, but I wouldn't have considered her my favorite and she actually died with honor. I kinda liked/felt for Ted, but you had to know he was doomed from the start.
-
What the hell does that mean? Would anyone understand that even if they watched the show?
-
Actually, the point of the show is that your powers aren't evil...it's how you use them... Or how you are corrupted or improved by them.
-
You're gods damn right we were blathering! K-Bell is worth blathering, worth drooling, worth...well, better not go there ;)
-
is that he already has a "power". His power is to cure the original version of the virus that killed his sister. So can a "hero" just shoot up with that stuff and gain a new power each time like rolling a dice, or did the writers forget that Mohinder actually is blessed with an ultra shitty power that he still hasn't realized he figured out his power 20 years too late?
-
Yes, almost all of S2 was horseshit.
-
Damn he was a badass in that new episode. I'm so glad I went this year. Looks like the show will be back on track and will have a theme about personal responsibility. This is gonna be a fun season.
-
Grow up you f*ckin babies.
-
just got a DUI!!! Bwa-HA HA HA HA
-
need to listen to another comic book hero moralistically pontificating? Does it ever stop? Does the public really need to listen to another grunting/shouting man? Another quipping/smarmy child actor?
-
Geezus, people. Reading subtitles is a skill, like anything else. See enough of them and you won't even think about it. Your eyes will scan both images and dialogue simultaneously and eventually you won't think about it. What, some of you are still looking (up) (down) (up) (down)? The sense of authenticity provided by subtitles (in different cultures, whether on Earth or in science fiction) is emboldened a hundred times over. No, a thousand times. Seeing posts like that just makes my snobby, elitist, artsy, entitled blood boil.
-
Heroes just "Tore The Still-Beating Heart Out Of A Screaming Man's Chest".
Oh wait, it's not 1984.
