ROME’s Purefoy To Play NBC’s PHILANTHROPIST??

Published at:  Jul 21, 2008 1:05:02 AM CDT

I am – Hercules!!

James Purefoy, who assayed Marc Antony on HBO’s “Rome” and was cast as Simon Templar in a “Saint” pilot that never went before cameras, is negotiating with NBC to play the title role in David Eick’s “The Philanthropist.”

The Hollywood Reporter describes the premise:

"Philanthropist," from UMS, centers on a renegade billionaire (Purefoy) who uses his wealth, connections and power to help people in need no matter the risks or costs.

The project represents longtime producer Eick’s second stab at showrunning; the first was the short-lived “Bionic Woman.” NBC has ordered 13 episodes of the show for midseason.

I have an idea for a TV show

    by larry of arabia

As we are out of original ideas for a TV show now, I would like to pitch mine. A rich guy shows up at the door of a person and gives them $1000000 and the use of a renegade team of Persian Gulf War vets with a supercar. They are loyal and will help the innocent people no matter what the personal cost. I call it the Millionaire A-Riders.

Open auditions are held in a number of major cities where a celebrity panel assess the faeces of members of the public. We can call it AMERICA'S GOT TURDS.

    NBC can suck it

    by davida4348

If it sucks, I've wasted my time. If it's great, I'll get into it and then NBC will cancel it and replace it with some slightly cheaper crap (remember Journeyman?)

I will no longer fall for NBC's bullshit (I'm talking to you Jimmy Fallon)
