The Trailer For Ridley Scott's BODY OF LIES Is Now Online!!
Merrick here...
Leonardo DiCaprio joins Russell Crowe, who reteams with Scott here, in this film which comes out October 10.
It's based on David Ignatius' spy thriller novel (HERE) and is one of those CIA -vs- terrorists/"who do I trust?" sorta things (which I'm sure is exactly how it was pitched).
The trailer's available in all forms of Glorious QuickTime (and other formats, too) over at Coming Soon, which you can jump to by clicking...
HERE!!!
I haven't read the book but I've heard awesome things about it; this could make for a great movie.

Cause I'm off today and seeing TDK in two hours. Yea!
-
Lots of potential with those two involved...
-
Go Glorious Quicktime!
-
Although watching it in quicktime is a bit fidely for my pc.
-
Anybody could make this or American Gangster. Come on Ridley, give us another Alien or Blade Runner before you pack it in.
-
1. When DiCaprio, Crowe, and Scott are involved in a project together its got to be good.
2. see rule #1. -
Damn You Michael Bay
-
And what is with that ridiculous beard DiCaprio has in this film? This movie looks like the Good Year meshed together with a below average spy thriller. With how badly the third act turned out in American Gangster and how pedestrian it was filmed I think Ridley has lost his touch. But I love Tony Scott though. I think with the exception of Domino Tony hasn't made a bad movie yet.
-
i like to see you make this or american gangster
-
The trailer does nothing but give me that impression. Hope it has its own legs.
-
"Ops" or something?
-
Character development whatsoever. If he does infact, this could be a good film.
-
THIS JUST SEEMS DULL
-
Dark Knight makes almost every movie seem dull. I honestly don't know how I'm going to get through this year film wise after seeing Nolan's masterwork. He's made that perfect entertainment.
-
Like, Jessica's Body of Lies, it might be more interesting.
-
I'd love the opportunity. But somebody on Scott's level should be seeking out better material IMO.
-
With Ridley behind the helm, I'm sure this will be very good. I'm a bit tired of Leo playing the tough guy though. He is a good actor but he in not tough in any way, shape or form.
But good trailer. Thank good it's not three minutes long a spoils evertything. -
i agree his older stuff is far more iconic and in general was just better material, but i wouldnt say he's in a slum or anything. Nottingham might be cool...maybe...i hope
-
I meant "thank God" off course. I'm from Norway so my spelling and grammar is not to good.
Anyway I hope this movie is 2.35.1, compared to American Gangster which was 1.85.1. Ridley has to shoot wide in my opinion. -
WTF is this about? I've watched the trailer a couple times and have no clue. I get the general idea, but plotwise....no idea.
-
FUCK Ridley Scott
-
I think Nottingham will be amazing if it ever gets made. I think it could be even better than Gladiator or Kingdom Of Heaven (dir cut).
I think a trailer for Nottingham will blow us away in around 7-8 months. Ridley is really good with that kind of material. -
is confusing as to what the plot is. But I like that. All I need to know is that it's Ridley behind the helm and Russell Crowe and Leo are in it. I hate it when they spoil everything in a trailer.
-
I remember reading an interview with him where he claimed he wouldn't have made Alien the same way if he made it today. He said the film was too slow. He was speaking as if it was the fault of the film and not modern day audiences. It really pissed me off. It's also probably why his films have only rarely reached good and have mostly been mediocre for the past decade or two.
-
That's the vibe I got. Not necessarily a bad thing, the cast is decent. But Ridley can do better than this tbh, i shouldn't be watching one of his films and thinking it's a combo of two other films.
-
Body of Lies tags these two together as Public Enemies does with Bale And Depp- I think this may be the better of the two leads. But you can't go wrong with either set.
-
Well, the one after that Nottingham thing, anyway. So obviously, he doesn't currently believe it's dead. Or else he's trying to revive it. Either way, I think THAT'S the one to keep an eye on.
This? Well this should be two-hours well-spent at the theater. With actors like this, you can't go wrong. Though, I'm more looking forward to Public Enemies. I think the Bale/Depp combo is equally as potent as the DiCaprio/Crowe combo, and the story in that one just interests me more. Oh, and DiCaprio's beard is distracting. Can he only grow facial hair on his chin and along his jaw-line? Poor man-boy. -

Hard to believe the same guy made Alien and Bladerunner.....
by rameses
Or even Legend.Non of the off- kilter imagination or balls out eccentricity , seems to be left .It's hard to believe it's the same film maker .Ridley seems to have turned into Tony these days.
-
so are the lazy pointless thrillers. I don't know about this one, maybe it's good, maybe even "oscarable" (don't know how to say in your english language!), but I already feel bore like when I saw The Good Shepherd. Where is the imagination in movie making now? Do we really need more terrorists, spy, friendship betrayal etc...? Plus if I want to see the horror of life I read the news or even simply walk the streets. I don't want some wealthy directors and actors telling me what truth is. Sorry if it had nothing to do with this movie but sometimes things must go out! ;)
-
is really boring and quite bad I think. I know many here seem to like it but I think De Niro did a poor job with that one. Hopefully Body Of Lies will be much better and involving.
-
But then again, anything with Rusty and Scott(outside of that crappy romance) and I'm there.
-
"Spy Game" (by the other Scott).
-
For every great film he makes. He makes utter dogs.
-
We are getting two more Good shepard movie. didnt see good shepard. But from what i heard. the reviews said see this film but bring a pillow.
-
who was not all that impressed with American Gangster? It felt like a well made TV movie, not a MAJOR MOTION PICTURE.
-
Stop being fags and read the fucking book.A VERY good political thriller and has a great fucking ending.Seriously 80% of the time talkbacks are just giant troll posts.......
-
Its pretty easy to tell which movies Ridley Scott invests time with and those he just makes on autopilot. This looks like crap.
-
Ridley > Tony. Ridley should not try to be Tony.
-
I'll check it out.

Yeah I saw this trailer last night
by the guy who slept through everything.
It looked like your run of the mill thriller, and sorry but when WATCHMEN played you forgot about all else and then came TDK.
-
Looks like a Tony Scott film... & I don't mean that in a good way. From this teaser, this does not have the SCOPE of a Ridley Scott film. Let's hope he is saving it for that Robin Hood project.

1. Executive Decider
2. The Patriot Objective
3. Operation Eagle
4. Game of the Condor
5. The Sum of all Danger -
lol..those are good. How aboutThe Fear Of All FearsThe Tenth DirectiveOperation Imperative

American Gangster was good, one of the best films of 2007, but it could have been a masterpiece.
Not really sure what to think of this. I'll definitely see it in theaters, but it doesn't look Oscar-worthy. -
Leonardo DiCaprio's character seems the same as in that movie.
Is it any coincidence that both have the same screenwriter? -
...Looks way better than American Gangster. And I liked that movie, although it was very flawed. Only thing that I hate about the trailer are those "Enemy of the State" areal shots. But yeah, story seems interesting, and Crowe looks like hes back in his "Jeff Wigand" mode, only as a bastard this time, and thats great. But hey, I'm a fan of Ridleys, even if he shot it with a camcorder in his livingroom and with his kids as the cast I'd say that it looks good.
-
...structured exactly like the generic movie number 104
-
Even at his worst he is better than most of the pricks out there. Christopher Nolan reminds me of Ridley Scott from the late 70's and early 80's. I wish Ridley would up the ante, though. Imagine Tony Scott's "Deja Vu" with Ridley and a superior sreenplay. Cerebral sci-fi is what Ridley Scott did best.
-
Damn you!
-
...but what about some of those douche's on that sites talk back. And I quote:
"Yes! Thank you for the photo, Sam. I can't wait to see Leo in this. I hope the trailer is online Friday too, so we can watch it again and again. *crosses fingers*" *Gag* me with a cocksickle! And then,
"Looks like another great movie for DiCaprio. I'm so glad that he has lost the boy looks and is now looking like a man ;-) never did get what the fuzz was about before Gangs of New York ;-)"
WTF- Let's meet up over their after class and give em all wedgies.
-
After further investigation I guess those posts were from some love sick 13 year old future-Mrs. DiCrappio wannabe...so never mind the threats of violence. Hittin women's bad mmkay!
-
comments about Kingdom of Heaven that you feel that way, Yackbacker? A healthy ego is good for a writer.
-
movie right there. Is Ridley doing the same peyote that his brother has taking for 10 years?
-
McCarthy's greatest book and one of the best in literature, i'm scared people, very scared...
-
...Seem spot on, so far. Crowe plays a little like a more glib Abbott, the Brian Cox character. DiCaprio is...well, he's a little lame as a Bourne knock-off, sorry to say. I hope these characters aren't what they look like because I do like me some Ridley Scott. Black Hawk Down might have been a Republican's wet dream but it was some gripping cinema.

I'm ready for Ridley to start filming, "The Kind One." Ridley Scott, Michael Mann, Christopher Nolan, and David Fincher... right now... are my favorite directors.
-
I saw this trailer in front of TDK. I desperately tried to discern the plot of this movie but could only cobble together that Crowe is the head of some Black Ops-esque group and runs things via cellphone from cafes and cabanas in the US, while DiCaprio is one of his operatives. I think? It all seemed very insipid. Burn Notice on frickin' USA Network has more style than this "spy thriller" Body of Lies. It IS supposed to be a spy thriller, right?
-
There was a Amsterdamian newspaper saying the entire set was moved to Morroco in order to fit her schedule. Yeah right. Now there's a rumour she isn't even in the damn thing anymore? What gives?
-
...not convincing even with the beard. It's the the voice, the face. Bad casting for this role. Why is he trying to prove the world that he can play Vin Diesel when we have Vin Diesel to play those kinds of role? Sorry. Wrong cast can ruin the film. He should stick to roles like the upcoming Revolutionary Road.
-
...given a good performance since Gladiator. He just seems to be phoning performances in.
