Cool As H.. Art from END OF DAYS!!!

Published at:  Jun 08, 1999 9:40:08 PM CDT

Boy take a look at this one. Is that desktop candy or what? It's soooo much better than the poster, which is... lame in my opinion. The sliver of fire and the clefted six... just doesn't sell me the movie... BUT this? This is dynamic... moody... atmospheric... and foreboding of terror. It also makes Arnold into a tragic figure instead of a heroic one. I like that. Folks... with all the supernatural films coming out this year... I'd take communion now, cause you'll be paranoid by the end of this run. Here's the image, thanks to Mogwai...

End of Days, With Wings As Eagles, Crusade

    by abking

I recently heard that the script that everyone hated so much and read is not the shooting script. There is a BETTER more horror filled less campy script that was used. I personally haven't read it but someone who has, told me that Arnold's character was written to be more tragic and troubled. It is great seeing Arnold change his career finally. I hope he does CRUSADE and WITH WINGS AS EAGLES as his two BIG dramatic films. I sent a scoop to Harry that I heard on THE GOSSIP SHOW that said James Cameron is going to direct the Paramount Pictures war film with Schwarzenegger. That would fucking ROCK. Who better to direct a BIG SCALE WWII film that Cameron. Back to EOD, I can't wait to see the full 2 minute trailer which should show Gabriel Byrnes as Satan and more special effects. That image is so COOL Harry. Thanks for putting it up.

Boba Fett as (cue church lady)... Satan?

    by dead kid

Well, its just a rumor, an old one at that of course (damn cinescape rumor mill), that Gabe might be Boba in Episode 2 (and then they say Kurt Russel might be Fett...ugh), but i digress....this is news to me that he is playing Satan in EOD (then again i just saw the teaser trailer the other day). This makes an odd ear for Mr. Byrne. He of course is playing a preist going up against a possesed Partricia Arquette in "Stigmata" later this year and then turns around and plays the ultimate demon in EOD's? Odd indeed...

    You Know Who I Am

    by maul99

Forget the art......that trailer kicks ass. I've watched it about 10 times in the last few weeks and it scares the shit out of me each time. Gabriel Byrne's voiceover, "You know who I am. You're just afraid to believe it" sends chills down my spine. He's going to kick ass as a priest in Stigmata, then turn into the devil in End Of Days. Talk about a 180 choice in roles. If the trailer is any indication, this might be one of Arnie's best films and a significant departure.

    END OF DAYS TRAILER

    by cineman

I don't know whether it was just from a lack of footage shot, but the first End Of Days trailer was not very promising if this is supposed to be an action flick. What is everyone elses' thoughts on the trailer. I can't wait for the film. After watching the trailer for this and Stigmata, I wonder if Gabriel Byrne knew how similar these two movies are.

    Will Somebody Please Tell Me...

    by mean ween

...what this film is supposed to be about? Alls I know so far is the title and that it's got Arnie and the Devil. Please fill in the gaps for me. I'd really appreciate it.

  • Where are the next action stars going to come from. Besides Keanu Reeves,Icanthink of any action stars that are not over the age of forty. If this film fails, will it be the end for Swartzenegger, and if Stallone's Detox crashes will it be the end for him. I doubt these two stars will find a career after action like Eastwood, Newman, and Redford. Bruce Willis is kind of showing the way by taking a few roles in smaller films like Pulp Fiction and Breakfast of Champions, but I just can't see Swartzenegger finding roles like this. Stallone needs to write again, remember he wrote one of the greatest screenplays ever in Rocky, but he also wrote Staying Alive. I'm just wondering who will bulk up and take on a $100 million action blockbuster, and fill the shoes of Stallone and Swartzenegger?

    EOD will ROCK HARD

    by abking

Schwarzenegger is a one of a kind super star. No one can replace him. Wait for the second trailer for EOD, it should have all the special effects, action footage and more shots of Satan. This film will ROCK like THE MATRIX did.

    Schwarzenegger = Next Charlton Heston?

    by smilin'jackruby

Just a thought. Not with the talent of course (if you don't think Heston's talented, see Branagh's "Hamlet" as Heston is pretty much the only American who can hold his own), but with the parts. Heston had a funny run of movies ("Planet of the Apes," "Omega Man," "Soylent Green," etc.) and as Schwarzenegger has been pegged for re-makes of two of those (however unlikely), this "End of Days" thing kind of looks like something Heston would've done in the 70s.

    Original EOD screenplay...

    by hal9000

Can anyone verify the scandalous rumor that the original EOD screenplay was a tongue in cheek campfest about world oblivion? Apparantly Arnold wasn't hip to that vibe, so the brass at Universal got rid of that pansy Marcus Nispel and obtained the services of several screenwriters to turn the film into a stylish thriller. The more I watch the teaser, the more I like it, but I'm still not convinced that this film is going to kick ass. When the hell is a director going to have the balls to do I Am Legend with Arnold?

    Reply to Talkback

  • Wait for the second trailer for END OF DAYS and we will see all the action and effects. This is Arnold after all and EOD cost over 100 million.

If you liked this picture, someone should rape you.

    by vincent vega

That is the worst thing I've ever seen in my life. Ohhhh, some kind of demon falling out a window, while a guy stands holding a gun, wup-de-fucking do. The presence of Arnald alone is enough to keep my ass out of the theater, this picture only helps make the movie look bad.

    tisk tisk, Vincent

    by mean ween

Does your mommy know that you're having rape fantasies? Here's a suggestion: go upstairs to the bathroom, get on your knees, and stick your head in the toilet bowl. Now, with your head in the toilet bowl, I want you to say "I am a degenerate piece of dogmeat." Then flush and repeat. Come back after you've done this 70 time and I'll give you your next task.
