Some stuff we know about the Nov. 23 Fox TV-movie and the 7th season of "24" launching about a month and a half later:
* The movie, shot in South Africa, is set in the fictional African nation of Sangala.
* Robert Carlyle’s character is Bauer’s best friend; they haven’t seen each other in something like a decade.
* Carlyle claims he doesn’t know if his character will appear in the 2009 episodes.
* The 7th season takes place at least four years after the 6th. We know this because Chloe O’Brien is now the mother of a 4-year-old.
* There’s now a female U.S. president. The successor to David Palmer, John Keeler, Charles Logan, Hal Gardner, Wayne Palmer and Noah Daniels is played by Cherry Jones (“Signs”).
* Sprague Grayden (“Jericho”) will play the president's daughter.
* The president’s son, played by Eric Lively (“The L Word”), will be seen in the movie, and will go missing at some point.
* Carly Pope (“Popular”) will play the son’s girlfriend.
* Jon Voight (“Transformers”) will play an evil mastermind in both the movie and subsequent episodes.
* Tony Todd (“Candyman”) will play the evil Sangala dictator in both the movie and subsequent episodes.
* Janeane Garofalo (“The West Wing”), who played an FBI agent in “Clay Pigeons” and Mary Lynn Rajskub’s boss on “The Larry Sanders Show,” plays an FBI agent in season seven.
* Gil Bellows (“Ally McBeal”) will play a State Department employee in the movie.
* John Billingsly (“Star Trek: Enterprise,” “The Nine”) has been cast as somebody named Latham.
* Series icon Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard) and his giant soulpatch live.
* We can expect the seventh season to be set several months after the movie.
You can still watch a trailer for the 7th season, some of which was shot last fall before the writer’s strike, here.

Zoe!!! But will it last 24 hours?
-
God, I am so sick and tired of that theme. They really could have used an awe-inspiring version of the Jack Bauer's theme, but hey...
Let's use something old and overused. It's not like anyone will notice... -
How funny...
-
the voice over and music... this cant possibly be the final cut.
-
What's with the lame voice guy and the recycled music? It seems like a fan-made trailer more than one released by Fox.
-
I've been faithful to the series since it began, but everything in Africa just looks hokey. Jack doesn't need to go on a journey to find himself -- which this reeks of. He's a soulless killing machine who wishes he wasn't, but he is, and it looks like this movie is trying to undo that truth about Jack.
Also, shittiest trailer voiceover/music combo ever. -
OMG...That was the shittiest voice over work I've ever heard. But it's good to see the Jack Sack back in action! Bring it on!
-
So fucking funny.
-
but i dont even remember the events that happened in last season's shitfest of a season.... something about Jack's dad and anoil rig and... meh thats all i can remember. Tony's alive?

They already had Obama has president on the show
by guy who got a headache and accidentally
PRESIDENT PALMER, NEVER FORGET
-
...u hit the nail on the head with all three points. what the fuck?! with a good voiceover and a different (original) piece of music i may have been excited by this despite being a huge 24 fan who has now abandoned the series due to its ludicrous handling of last season. im just not sure about this... and robert carlyle... why do you have to be american!?
-
Apologies to anyone who's used that joke already.
-
So Stallone makes another Rambo movie, Fox Channel sees it and thinks "Great Plot Idea for 24?"
-
Be like sixty five years old by now? The continuity of this show is fucking awful. That being said, I'll probably still watch this.
-
Has pretty much become the modern Ted McGinley. Don't know that it is a good sign that she is on the show this season.
-
white men killing blacks in Africa
-
I was a big fan of the show a couple of years back, but just feel as if it "jumped the shark" as soon as that bomb went off in--- where was it--- Los Angeles? For me, part of the Bauer mystique was that the everyday person had no idea of the threats he dealt with... and the things he courageously did to save all of us. Once that bomb went off, the show seemed to move from drama/fiction to fiction (in my mind, at least). Production values aside, this latest effort looks to be something of another bump in the road. That is, unless the writers can give an exceedingly good reason for Bauer to be in Africa. Whatever the case, I hope that the show eventually restores the Bauer mystique as someone whose saving your life even though you don't know it.
-
You guys realize that, right?
-
Seriously, worst voiceover EVER. As for the Requiem music, yeah its cliched by now, but dammit you all know its still powerful, and still works.
-
even i coulda done better than that
-
I think it's obvious that was a really really rough cut of what they intend to release as an actual advertisement.
-
Was that supposed to be BLOOD DIAMOND 2? That was fucking awful. No wonder the Fox execs went apeshit.
-
I heard they tried to find one, but you were busy :D
-
I'm actually glad the strike made them take a year off....but Africa? Seriously, there could have been so many cooler things to do with a movie...Hopefully Soulpatch will set 2009 off right and make us forget season 6

Why don't people realize that "Historic" starts with a fucking H? It's "A Historic". A. You use "An" when the next word starts with a vowel. Even the English, who often ignore their H's get it right do why can't Americans? Do they teach you that in school? I mean it's not like you say you're studying for 'istory class. You pronouce the H. So why does every american on TV say "An Historic?"
-
Good God. Triumph the Insult Comic Dog could have done better.
-
Are you British? Because our understanding (and yes, I speak for all Americans) is that the "an historic" thing is a holdover from the British dialect, in which the "H" is generally silent at the beginning of a word.
If you're British (or if other Britishers want to correct me), I'll happily admit I'm wrong. But that's the idea. -
It's beneath Burundi, in between the DRC and Tanzania. Check Google or Wikipedia.
seriously, the tv movie could be good but that's gotta be the cheesiest, weediest voiceover work for a show as universally-beloved as 24.
what the frak were they thinking?
p.s. you checked google and wikipedia, huh? gotcha.

yep, the British say 'an historic' because the 'h' is silent
by newc0253
trust me, i know that whereof i speak.
-
I think they took it down, so here's another link.
http://spoilertv-24.blogspot.com/2008/07/prequel-trailer-work-print.html
And, yes, the music and VO are temp tracks and will be replaced. For everyone who is so quick to cry PLANT and FAKE for reviews and photos, the temp VO on this trailer really fooled you. Suckas. -
Looks very derivative. What the hell happened to this show? I don't care if that's a rough cut, how long does it take to find somebody with a better voice for such a big-budget show? And also, in case the link above does, here is an alt to this POS: http://spoilertv-24.blogspot.com/2008/07/prequel-trailer-work-print.html
-
is obviously temporary.
-
replace the 'v6' part in the address with 'v1' or 'v2' (and so forth) and you'll get different versions. Not much difference though..
And yeah, this is a rough cut of the trailer - not the finished product. -
But since its not there anymore who gives a shit..
-
zombie!
-
I was going off some british actor (can't recall who) telling Jon Stewart that he was annoyed at how stewart always says An Historic. I dunno, where I live we pronunce the H, same as saying history. Like I said, It's just a pet peeve.
-
From wikipedia: "The goal of the player's character will be to find and assassinate "The Jackal", an arms dealer that has been selling weapons to both sides of the conflict that's tearing apart a small fictional African country."
-
I want to see this fucker!! But the link is not working!! ARRRGGGHHHH!!!
-
and if it is and it works out ok, does is mean I can only watch the last ~3 episodes of next season and avoid all the bullshit filler? (the president's daughter has been kidnapped by cougars while Chloe was repositioning the satellite! are you a bad enough dude to rescue the president's daughter?)
-
Found it on YouTube... and yes, that punk narrator needs to GO.
-
Prepare to be disappointed, I fear. Not much for me to hope for - maybe a drama series nod to The Wire (it's now or never), Mary McDonnell getting through in drama actress, and BSG doing well in the tech categories as well as writing and directing.
-
...because it turns out I'm really super bored: "For choosing a or an, spelling doesn't matter; pronunciation does. A is for consonant sounds; an is for vowel sounds. The ever-popular "an historic" is incorrect, at least for American speakers, because historic does not begin with a vowel sound. Even those Americans who say "an istoric" will admit that they say "historic," with the consonant h, when the word stands alone. I don't care whether "an istoric" rolls off your tongue more easily than "a historic"; you don't go altering your pronunciation of a word in order to change the article you use before it. Your comfort is none of the language's concern." So the elements of style says that yanks should not use "An historic," although it turns out I was totally wrong and British folks always use "an" for just about anything with an H.
-
The clips from the preview of the new season looked promising when they were aired last winter, but this clip was far from captivating. Granted they probably are still filming and much of the action hasn't been shot yet. Hopefully, it is better than it looks. Eventhough Exile is only a prequel to set up the new season, it has to captivate the audience and not just be filler and backstory.
-
I'm gonna keep coming back until someone REMEMBERS seeing Richie!
-
one of the guys in the post production dept. It's temp, folks, like the music (well, a lot of the music). but of course, you all knew that already... you're just bitching because it's fun to be a hater.
-
Get Lenny James from Jericho to join this show! Jack and BlackJack would make the ultimate terrorist killing team.....fuck yeah!
-
Thats some funny shit
-
Asian American homosexual. All 24 presidents or Starfleet captains have to cover every colour and gender at some point.
-
did anyone download it and can put it somewhere ??? and yes .. the voiceover was probably WHY they took it down
-
don't know if anyone else has heard this, but i was just listening to a local radio station here in atlanta and they said that julia roberts might guest star on 24 next season.
the weird thing is that kiefer and julia dated and almost got married about 20 years ago. she broke off the wedding just days before they were to get married.
i never knew any of this... -
Shitty trailer but I'm intrigued. Anything with an ex-gigalo as the bad guy has my interest piqued.
-
and the trailer wasn't too inspiring, but there look to be interesting scenes. I've enjoyed all of 24 so far (despite last season being the weakest) so I'm in.
-
watch two episodes back to back from the last few series it falls apart so badly. One episode is an entertaining hour of action, but the storylines are just getting worse and worse.
Bad_wolf, liking those titles! -
soul patch and all.........and i'd enjoy it!
-
There's no way that's the final VO, that's the editor or audio supervisor laying down a scratch track for timing. We'll see the trailer again in the next week or so with the regular Fox guy doing the work.
-
Is Tony still host to the alien symbiote known to us as Soul Patch? Are there any pictures out there to confirm his look for S7?
My thinking is that the alien symbiote works opposite from say Venom in that it causes its host to "do good." Once it was removed Tony's dark side was unleashed as that is his true nature. -
...from goddamn Enemy of the State?
Cause that's exactly what it reminded me of...
