Going to Comic-Con? Wanna meet Thomas Jane, Ron Perlman AND see a rough cut of MUTANT CHRONICLES?
UPDATE: 5:03pm CST Saturday, July 12th! I finally arose from my slumber and checked the email... well over 200 people have written in, so I can safely assume our 50 seats are gone. I'll compile the winners tonight and email those who entered letting them know if they made it or not!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. So, if you're like me the fact that the San Diego Comic-Con Website has posted their Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday schedule has gotten you all giddy inside, knowing that the whirlwind of nerdgasmic excitement is just around the corner.
To add on to that fire, let's give away some seats to the big old Mutant Chronicles screening happening Saturday night, July 26th.

As you can see, it's open to anyone with a badge, but Thomas Jane has offered to hold AICN readers 50 seats that will be given away here. So that means your name will be on a list and you will not need to wait in line. You just need to show up 15 minutes before showtime to claim your seat in a roped off section filled with other AICNers like you.
To make it even more special, you will be told where to go after the screening for a private pow-wow with Thomas Jane and Ron Perlman to discuss anything you'd like, from the film you just saw to what you ate for dinner. Whatever. And this will be just for you guys.
The only thing you need to do is email mutantaicn@yahoo.com with the subject line Make Mine Mutant, give me your full name (and that of your guest) and promise me you're going to be at the Con and that you'll show. You can ask for one guest, but only one. Get your lazy friends on to email me themselves if you need more than 2 seats! When I fill those 50 seats that's it, so first to email get it.
I've had a long, long day, so I'm going to sleep and will check up on the mailbox in the AM. I'll update this post when the seats have been spoken for! Good luck!

I requested so I hope to see some tickets . I love the Tom Jane
-
Won't be possible, unless you guys are willing to pay for my airplane ticket too.
-
I don't know what to think of the Mutant Chronicles. I am a sucker for the post-apocalyptic setting, but MC never looked like a movie with much premise to me. Guess I'll wait for the reviews.
Tom Jane is great though, I haven't seen a single movie of his where he disappointed. He was the only good thing in Punisher, and he was awesome in Stander and The Mist. -
woulda been nice to have posted this before saturday got sold out..i woulda bought a tic just for this...cuz no way am i fighting crowds ever again...send my best to the king of fan boys and the god of character actors...have to hand it to both of these guys...they dont owe shit to us and im sure they both have better things to do then hang with 50 guys and gals who will be to geeked out to talk...can someone ask jane this for me...whats it like to be a short balding bespectaled geek stuck in the body of a handsome hollywood star, and does patricia get pissed every wednesday night when he spends his entire evening reading the new comics instead of banging her hot ass?...thank you
-
you could stay at home and download the dvdrip via bittorent. Personally i'm no going to do either as despite the talent involved, it looks shit.
-
in damn good quality, i might add
-
Just about to watch it this very minute.
-
Gears of War II looks awesome!

-
Oh man, that looks awesome. "What would Jesus NOT do?" Amazing.
-
As mentioned before the DVD rip is available online, and for free it looks like a waste of a download.
-
Has already leaked onto torrent sites. They definitely need to do some work on it.
-
no, rough cut, and it looks as beautiful as sky captain.
-
Give us a hint where to find it. Here's a vid of New York Comic Con 2008 with some reasonably hot fangirls. http://tinyurl.com/5vdfxz

Having read the books (a great read btw) and played the card game back in the day, this movie has so much left out that made the original story great. At least they could have put in a Necromutant instead of just the peons.
-
...what exactly is the version leaking left, right and centre all over the internet?
-
I feel bad for anyone thinking about seeing this screening at comicon.
-
eff the movie, you get to spend quality time with jane and perlman...you get to bitch at them, or throw them some love...instead of coming here and doing it anonomously
-
Why slob on two dudes' knobs you don't even know nor will ever meet again afterwards? Plus, I'll bet they're pretty embarrassed to have to be there for a screening of a shit movie, so I doubt they'll be thrilled to stay and chat about it.
-
seriously. I went to a movie premier (Bloodrayne....) and they had an open bar. "Sweet," I thought, "free drinks" but I was like 17 at the time so I had no idea what to order. I got to the front of the line, (after asking a surly Pearlman if Hellboy 2 was happening), and flummoxed as to what to order, I just blurted out, "I'll have what Hellboy is having." Turns out, Mr. Pearlman enjoys his Kamakazi's. I had 6 that night...and interviewed Uwe Boll for like 40 minutes.
-
the guy is 58 I'm surprised he still does stunts.
-
schedule; right? That's all that's left, as the Friday schedule was leaked.
-
You are wise sir.

This still has some work to be done. Clearly still needs color timing work and more work done blending the digital effects. When this comes to official release I have a feeling it will look a lot better. It's not that bad, it's entertaining.... a few odd editing choices.. director has promise though stylistically. Gory too... which is cool. Best thing though is the casting.. their roles are odd but having Sean Pertwee and Benno Furmann in the same movie is pretty cool... add Perlman, Jane and Malkovich and it's at least worth a rental as it is now. It's fun. Probably be interesting in theaters with the right crowd. I will admit some of the script is a little... lacking.

Can I stop obsessively checking my email?

as this story has now made its way to every entertainment website...so even those who have never visited here have been emailing

it has the touch of Sin City, but it pulls it off much better, I really was skeptical of this film, but it was amazing, it was good.

I heard Gus Van Rant just posts shit to start something

But that's just what his mom whispered between my thighs. I really wish she'd just concentrate.
-
I know how you feel, I can't stop checking either haha.
-
The opening battle is alright. Looked like a high budget TV movie.
-
Retro-steampunk CGI set in a future that looks painfully like WWI-era Europe.
-
Casshern is awful. Was SO let-down by that movie. This doesn't look much better. But I'll see anything with Perlman, so...
-
Which ain't that big a deal since it's a low budget sequel to Snipes' espionage thriller. Now if the powers that be can only released Felon, which looks interesting but no way am I gonna shell out my hard earned dollars for this.
-
has got to be those gawddamn Cosplayers.Man are those fanboys/girls creepy. However that Green Lantern chick looked kinda cute. ( Damage_Inc's link.)
-
LOL I'm sure they're taking film-making notes as we speak, random guy on the internet with no credentials or experience. Here's a hint: if you're opinions on the editing process of the film were worth listening to, they would have been delivered to the set by your assistant, or phoned in to the 'Pearlmeister' by you. Since you choose to deliver your helpful tips via an internet message board, I'm guessing they're going to pass.
-
I honestly wonder if they actually think that's the word and how it's spelled, or if they know the word is 'because' and have decided to cleverly reduce it to this 3 letter ebonics word to save time typing. Because, if their entire peer group says 'cuz', the odds are decent that they've never been confronted by the actual word they're butchering in the new lolcat language of the 21st century. I can easily envision 20 years from now, people thinking 'can I has cheeseburger' is a legitimate way to order at Burger King because no one remembers where it came from.
-
is the fact that gmail let's you send a email back in time so someone could have come on at 12pm and sent it to look like it arrived at 5am. They way is should really be done is first 50 talkback comments. If nothing else it might cut back on people who have never even been to AICNs from applying.
-
Did anyone get an e-mail yet? I thought I might be too late, but I would like some closure. I hate not knowing
-
and I emailed right away so.
-
Where are those e-mails, Quint?

This movie was suposed to be in preproduction and i really think this will be the final product if you are aware of the budget and all. I wonder who stole this from the filmmakers...maybe they did it themselves as a publisity stunt of some kind. I was planing on seeing it on theaters...
Still might, it has that 300 charm to it...plus a lot of guts. -

I don't often comment on a movie, nor have I left a comment at rlslog up until now...but I was really disappointed with this film. I had heard good hype about it a year ago, I was so stoked to watch it...then I saw a trailer....still I gave it a chance, and downloaded this 'workprint' as you call it.
I downloaded: Mutant.Chronicles.2008.DVDRip.Corrected.PSK.avi on pirate bay, and for the record, it is pretty much a 10 out of 10 for both audio and video quality, there is ZERO problem with aspect ratio, and the sound is crisp and clear and honestly, I have to again gripe about a couple of people saying it is a 'workprint', because I noticed NO missing sound effects, or music, or special CGI effects...everything was there. Although the blood at times looked like splashes of fake cgi effect...but hardly noticeable. Nonetheless, and I stress this....for seeing the likes of Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Thomas Jane (The Mist, The Punisher), Devon Aoki (Sin City, DOA: Dead or Alive), and MY GOD John Malkovich......all playing in this. You can say what you want about each one of those particular movies I noted they starred in, but each, if nothing else, was produced well, and was slick and polished. If this garbage I just watched is indeed a 'workprint' and still needs to be fine-tuned, I just have to say, I certainly HOPE so. Everything seemed to be in it's proper place though, it was just a terrible mutated crazed zombie-ish storyline, that has been done a hundred similar ways, and often insurmountably better ways, before. DESPITE having a coal powered airship. And despite the constant, eerie stylization, which I do admit looked like it had potential throughout the movie. But this just doesn't make up for the piss-poor dialogue, simply B-class development, and from the likes of John Malkovich, an unremarkable 5 minutes of character time. It was all these poor, terribly underused actors could do to hold it together. And trust me, the ones I mentioned at least, they tried there best, even John did what he could with those measly 5 minutes. But it simply felt like the Star Wars prequels all over again to me. Fortunately, we had no originals to use as ammunition and means to tear this one to shreds any more than I already have, I suppose.
I give it a 5.5 out of 10, and that's only because there was a number of cool and well-done effects, but it all just seemed pieced together, with no real explanation of how the world came to be as it was, and seemed like a poor mixture of the ancient and the modern, religion and science fiction. And in the end, there really is no proper closure, or even a cliffhanger worth hanging on to. I'd rather let go and fall to my death. Waste of my personal couple of hours, for at least somewhat of a considerable expectation I had for this film. I'm just glad I saved my 10 bucks at the theater, but I will give it another chance a half a year or so from now, on an unrated blueray or something.
That's my two cents.

Guess it's not happening.

No emails yay or nay here. At least they could have poster something saying the idea was scrapped. That would be the courteous thing to do.
