Who Is Jan Jürgen, and Why Does All of Hollywood Fear Him?

Published at: July 9, 2008, 12:04 a.m. CST

Beaks here... Germans have always brought the planet a bunch of grief, but, by and large, they've been good for Hollywood. F.W. Murnau, Ernst Lubitsch, Wim Wenders, Roland Emmerich, Jörg Buttgereit... giants all! So what's with this Jan Jürgen fella, and why's he making trouble when there's hundreds of millions of dollars being poured into the most important Vietnam film since PLATOON LEADER? You can check out the red band trailer for Jürgen's explosive documentary RAIN OF MADNESS here, and you can see the movie he's blitzkrieging, currently titled TROPIC THUNDER, on August 15th.

It's not a Vietnam movie, genius

    by CoursinLarry

It's a movie ABOUT a Vietnam movie. If anything, they've just revived the supposedly dead horse.

    It's funny to me

    by kungfuhustler84

I think like half the people didn't follow the links or wathc the hilarious trailer, they just went straight to the hate on the talkbacks. So is the actual documentary going to be an extra on the DVD, or is it really going to be somehow released in theatres (maybe on the website?) , or is it just another advertisement for the movie? A lot of questions i know, but this looks promising.

  • July 9, 2008, 2:30 a.m. CST

    yeah and Bad Wolf...

    by kungfuhustler84

pull that enormous swastika shuriken out of your ass and laugh dude! Germans wear socks with their sandals and have festivals like every two weeks for no reason so they can get shit faced and dance on tables. That shit's hilarious! I know because I lived there. Germans would have thought it was funny, believe me. So chill.

    Bad Wolf...

    by nascentia

Germany gave us Uwe Boll which, as far as I'm concerned, is about six times worse than the Holocaust and both World Wars, so get the sauerkraut out of your vagina and goose-step your way back to Berlin, frauline! (Humor: it's a good thing)

  • July 9, 2008, 4:41 a.m. CST

lol is that Justin Theroux as 'jan jurgen'?

    by smackfu

Seriously guys. Even if your sense of humor is completely stunted and you're not 'getting' the joke, the font for 'Rain of Madness' couldn't have been a bigger tipoff.

I'm just of the phone with Jan...

    by Holgi65

and je confirmed to me that he is actualy Danish. The country which gave us Dreyer and that von Trier guy, he is also a big Dane. Jan was born in Süderlügum which is near the german border, but still...

I hope this movie doesn't disappoint...

    by scudd

I'll say it again - asspump Leni Riefenstahl

    by JackRabbitSlim

To paraphrase Samuel L. "I hope she bitch burns in hell". For Yaweh's sake, she most likely had sex with Adolf. For that alone, nevermind the "Gee - i didn't notice all the extras were taken from concentration camps", she will be excoriated every time the skeezy bitch is mentioned.

    by Laserhead

    for Tropic Thunder? That's brilliant.

  • July 9, 2008, 10:31 a.m. CST

    all this meta-textuality confuses me

    by Cedar_Room

not the idea of the documentary - which looks brilliant and surely already makes the dvd for tropic thunder worth buying now? - but whether people's reactions are fake reactions to the fake doc OR whether some people are just thick as pigshit and humour is completely lost on them. This looks brilliant, Tropic Thunder looks brilliant, Steve Coogan to rule the world!!

  • July 9, 2008, 10:40 a.m. CST

    Tropic Thunder looks awesome

    by Captain RawBeard

After its Cinema release I will eagerly awaiting for the DVD release of this film. I have a feeling its going to be packed full of juicy goodness.
