The international trailer for TROPIC THUNDER is online over at the film's UK website here. Some familiar material, some new material, and all of it looks promising.

The gag with Stiller & the kid on the bridge is hilarious, and I really appreciate the film maker's decision to make this look like a *real* movie (I'm referring to scale and photography)...a la THE BLUES BROTHERS. These qualities seemed to slip away from comedies (in particular) sometimes 'round the late 80s, and it's great to have them back.

I'm planning on seeing Step Brothers, Pineapple Express, and Tropic Thunder in theatres, which seems almost absurd to me that so many promising looking comedies are being released so close to one another.

You can also see a "red band" trailer when you go to the restricted area. Not more funny than the international one, but you can understand a couple more jokes from the international trailer...

I've enjoyed the comedies I've seen so far this year and it's funny because for the longest time I didn't even bother seeing comedies in the theater. I used to save those for video. But yeah, this one I'm really looking forward to. The trailers are surprisingly hilarious.

It's at the AMC Empire 25 on 234 West 42nd Street in Manhattan from 8 to 10 pm. Its a special screening for college students, so even if you don't get an RSVP, if you show up early enough and have your valid college ID, I'm pretty sure they'll let you in because its first come first serve.

Steve Coogan, very funny non-American. Although he does seem to be popping up in alot of stuff lately, some of questionable quality but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Man, does that movie look like garbage. Not a single twinge of humor-at all! jack black, ben stiller, will farrell, owen wilson...all of these pathetic hacks make jerry lewis look like a comedic god. Yet, millions of mindless retards will pay actual money to see it. Baffling.

You are full of Horseshit, there are plenty of quality performances from Jack Black, school of rock, Ben Stiller, Flirting with Disaster, Meet the Fockers, Will Farrell, Old School, Anchorman, and Owen Wilson, Bottle Rocket and Darjeeling Limited, the key is if they get a decent script, role, and director to guide them. It sucks that mindless jerk-offs from the Studio Execs down to the paying public don't distinguish the crap from the quality but to write all these guys off as hacks doesn't solve anything and makes you look as ignorant as the fools who pay to see White Girls.

He's got a lot of talent. He's chosen to squander it on cheap gags and sentimentality. Rent the DVDs of "The Ben Stiller Show" from the mid-'90s and watch comic brilliance bubbling. Too bad he turned off the burner.

In the US version of the trailer when it says "The Action Guy", he's carrying two baby polar bears but in the international version he's carrying two human babies. Can you not carry both guns and human babies in the US trailer? I think the baby polar bears are funnier even if it is censoring the real thing.

The framing, background, and lighting seem to vary slightly but at the same time appears to be the same shot in both versions. Stiller is looking at the camera as it zooms in in one but not the other etc. Maybe in the movie there is a joke of them (the production crew IN the movie) shooting the same shot over and over with him carrying different things...

Gotta say, this looks pretty funny. But yes, it is just The 3 Amigos meets A Bugs life... in a jungle - but hey, that's not a bad thing...

so, it looks like we won't be seeing ben stiller's "i'm inept and mensch-y" character in this one. (fockers, parents, polly)
he opted, instead, for his "i'm over the top and aggressive" (dodgeball, mystery men)

Is it just me, or is this not a remake of the Three Amigos. Substitute the jungle for Mexico and I'm sure some of the same plotpoints and jokes....

Looks more or less as he does in that pre-production Photoshop image. It looks good, but given that Nolan is going for 'reality-based', there's a bit too much meat and tendon on display I think.

Still funny as $hit, tho...that kid-stabbing scene is STILL classic...especially with the wilhelm-scream...haha -
and a lot better than Three Amigos and looks a lot better than this but RDJ is always worth checking out.

I may indeed be retarded, but I really enjoyed Heartbreak Kid, Along Came Polly, and Meet the Parents. Sometimes his embarrassment schtick hits too close to home, causing sack shriveling, asshole puckering uncomfortability, but it usually has me in tears laughing. So, that settles it, I'm fukt in the head.

Looks like another (generic) Ben Stiller movie to me. And the jokes (white guy cosmetically transforms into a "brother") look absolutely antiquated. I'd rather watch a Sharon Stone movie (not! That's really reaching...).

Overexposure eventually handicapped the careers of Abbott and Costello. Gauguing the commercial/critical failure of his past film, Ferrell is deservedly feeling the contempt. He's not funny...it's the same old shtick. NYC already said it quite eloquently ("all of these pathetic hacks make jerry lewis look like a comedic god."). Amen.

I sent my review to the guys here at AICN, hopefully they can print it....if not, maybe it'll end up in here...the movie was amazing - one of the funniest movies i've personally ever seen.

you have to understand why the kid is stabbing him...it's such a great payoff from a drawn-out setup in the movie
