UPDATED! Wanna see Steve Coogan's HAMLET 2? Going to Comic-Con? Then I got a contest for ya'!

Published at:  Jul 07, 2008 8:14:54 PM CDT

Holy crap, that was fast. I stepped away from my computer for 20 minutes and I have an inbox filled with ROCK ME SEXY QUINT messages... not that that's an uncommon sight... eh...

Guess I need to go tougher on the trivia questions next time.

I'll email all the winners separately, but here's the list of the lucky 10:

Wajahat Ali
Tait Hove
Sean Novak
Greg Adkins
Jeff Howell
Brett Rader
John McCracken
John Hudgens
Lars Schear
Chuck Belcher

The answers to the trivia questions are below in red text! Thanks for all those who entered! Sorry it was over so quickly!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. We have a few contests hitting the page very soon, a couple of them having to do with ticket giveaways for this year's San Diego Comic-Con. I'll be there with bells on and this year I'll be joined by Mr. Beaks and Capone in an official capacity and I'm hearing word that the evil doctor might slink out of the labs to make an appearance as well.

Sometime in the next week or so I'll be hitting you guys with a big ticket giveaway for Mutant Chronicles, but today I'm starting with a smaller giveaway. I only have 10 tickets to HAMLET 2, each good for two people, but you not only get a ticket for the screening, but also a Hamlet 2 prize pack that includes a T-shirt, wristbands and a Rock Me Sexy Jesus Doll.

The screening will be Saturday evening, July 26th, somewhere in the Gaslamp district (walking distance from the convention center). I'm hearing Steve Coogan will be at the Con promoting the flick, so he may show at the screening, too... I've not heard that from anybody official, but I'd say there's a decent chance.

Anybody attending the con is eligible, but what I need for you to do is email me at quint@aintitcool.com with the subject line ROCK ME SEXY QUINT and the correct answers to a few trivia questions below and your mailing address.

The first 10 people to email me with the correct answers, correct subject line (if it's not copied exactly the email will go into the wrong folder and be out of contention) and an address get the ticket and prize pack.

Q1: Steve Coogan is famous for playing a fictional talk show host in the UK. What's his name? Alan Partridge

Q2: Elisabeth Shue is in HAMLET 2. Who does she play? Elisabeth Shue (herself)

Q3: I developed an unhealthy crush on Shue in a 1987 theatrical feature... name the feature and also name her co-star that has the same last name as her co-star in Hamlet 2. Adventures In Babysitting, Keith Coogan

Q4: Alas Poor Yorick... What was Yorick's profession in the original Shakespeare play? Jester

Q5: Speaking of Yorick, what is Yorick’s monkey’s name in Y: The Last Man by Brian K. Vaughn? Ampersand

Q6: In the play Hamlet 2, Coogan's character solves the problem of sequelizing material in which everybody dies by using time travel. Name me the actress who appeared in two different time travel films, one an underseen 1979 classic and the other a 1990 sequel, and name me the films. Mary Steenburgen, Time After Time and Back To The Future III

That’s it.

Keep in mind that if you win a pair of tickets that doesn't guarantee entrance. You still need to show up early to make sure you get in, but it's worth it. The movie's really damn funny.

I’ll be sure to update the story when I have all 10 winners. Good luck!

-Quint

Hamlet 2: sometimes a title is all you need...

    by anakin whoopass

...to express a horrible idea. Seriously if you're handed a script entitled Hamlet 2, why do you read past the cover page except morbid curiosity? 25 years ago "Highlights From Hamlet" was ridiculous enough to be a Mel Brooks joke. Hamlet 2 probably would have been considered too non-sensical to be funny. How low we've sunk.

Every funny thing there is to say about Hamlet

    by smackfu

has already been said by Gary Oldman and Tim Roth. That being said, anyone hating on Steve Coogan needs to watch a full season of Alan Partridge to realize that this guy belongs aside Cleese and Chapman in the absurd comedy hall of fame.

    Amy Poehler's in it?

    by thegreatwhatzit

I'll definitely pass. Elizabeth Shue was "destined for stardom" but some sort of malevolent influence eroded all of that promise. Glad she's working the indie route (during the embryonic stage of her career, Heather Graham was often cast in independent flicks; now, of course, she's...actually, she's pretty much off the radar. Her interviews ["I'm a whack-o"] were no help. God, I can't believe she's nearly 40).

    Coogan

    by moribundman2000

Fair enough some of you Americans don't "get" or "like" Coogan's stuff. Fair enough. I don't get some Aussie comedies, or even some comedie from the almighty United States, but if ANY of you are going to slight Coogan and in the same breath say anything above 5% in positive favour (delete "u" as applicable) of Ricky Gervais then you should cut off your cock and balls, freeze them to ice like solid steel, sharpen your disembodied cock to a point, and trepan yourselves.

Ricky Gervais is a fat pointless cunt that invented a moderately amusing sitcom (largely funny in spite of his presence) then fucked off to the US to fellate anyone he could, in between jogging across Hampstead Heath at the busiest time of day over a weekend looking annoyed whenever anyone recognised him. Coogan is a genius who seems to tag himself to naff projects in the US. Gervais is a self obsessed fat fuck who should take Russell Brand to one side and work out some sort of Wako arrangement.

    Give it a chance

    by ukmaxi

First things first, i love both coogan and gervais, they are both really good comedians, and they share sense of humour with each also, so moribundman2000, your hatred of ricky (through an obsurd slippery slope) means you indefinately hate steve also. But anyway most of you i assume haven't seen this, therefore don't make pre judgements about the film, and if you have well thats your opinion. I never see or don't see a film based on a review, as your not likely to be a person which analyses every single shot, every single angle and making sure every sentence has some tie to the plot.

I know the trailer is meant to convince you, but hey if its got steve coogan in it i will see it regardless!!
