Matthew Fox About To Be Cast As A Not-Yet-Introduced Comic Book Character!?!?
Merrick here...
Matthew Fox...

...whose "Racer X" was one of the better elements of SPEED RACER, is about to be cast as BILLY SMOKE.
Story centers on an elite hit man who's nearly killed during a botched job and realizes that his only way to find redemption is to rid the world of all assassins.
..says THIS ARTICLE in Variety.
The project is based on an upcoming comic series from Oni Press that'll be written by B. Clay More, of Images Comics' HAWAIIAN DICK.

Will he fight a metaphorically produced Smoke Monster?

Let the LOST loving talkbackers begin a long and pointless debate!!!

would be a better movie.
-
and maybe its good that i don't know or care about the property, but its strange to me when these things get green lit before they are even written as comics.whatever.
-
Because if they did, then I'm your man! I didn't get my lordship by making friends with swine and other porcine-related beasts that's for sure...
-
man thats cool why not its not like he has much to risk

Is since this comic series isn't even out are we going to get another Wanted? I watched and enjoyed the Wanted movie, but it had maybe 20minutes in common with the comic. Wanted was optioned and had an early script done by the time the 2nd issue was out.
So what's the chance this barely resembles the material it is based on? I would prefer to see already established comics get the movie treatment since at least then there is a better chance of being more true to the the series. -
like Obama he gave us hope but raped hilary blind

Originality, thy name is Hollywood.

. . .about Matthew Fox?
-
when all movies are based on comic books.
-
That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Why not get rid of the people who hire the assassins? The assassins themselves are just immoral contract workers. They're not the real evil behind it all.
-
I wonder how they'll slow down the bullet time this time.
-
One of the FEW shows on TV with very good actors involved - LOST - and thus - Glad to see Fox making a jump - well - onto the big screen.. the man can act. Hitman missed what cold have a been a great movie - acting good - script horrid - hopefully this movie will take the script seriously.
-
At least *try* Matthew.
-
Hope they integrate the fourth story arc of this yet to be series.
-
everything with word balloons. Fucking comic isn't out! I don't understand. How can these things happen. I can see wanted happening, Millar is kind of a "superstar" and there was good buzz around the first issue. But I never heard about this till now. If we're talking image comics - Walking Dead, Invincible. They all had dozens of issues. Get cracking.
-
That means there's a good chance the movie will come out before the comic actually does.
-
Is the Man!
-
Sounds.... like Assassins 2.
-
nothing against Fox mind you, he was one of the few reasons I stuck through Lost as long as I did before realizing it had no fucking clue what it was doing. But I mean really.... another hitman having an epithiny!!!!? When did fictional hitmen start getting all touchy feelly?
-
Even if Speed Racer was too esoteric for most folks to get into, Fox was definitely the best part of that movie, and I'd love to see him tackle a popular superhero. He had such a cool, directed intensity in SR and could also laugh every once in a while - it made me think he would be a good Hawkeye or a slightly less innocent Captain America. (...Winter Soldier?)

he was one of the few reasons I stuck through Lost as long as I did before realizing it had no fucking clue what it was doing.....Brace for impact!

I'm with Seth Rogen in Knocked Up in regards to Matthew Fox

and I HATE fucking high-tech hitman movies. Mr and Mrs Smith? Hitman? Who gives a shit. The studio would be better-served to save themselves fifty-million dollars in the blow shit up real good budget and just have a simple story about an ordinary hit man who gets shit done. That's all you have to do. Have him be smart and brutal and efficient. He doesn't need to have 'splodey brief-cases and super secret bullshit agencies. He just gets told simply and plainly to kill someone and then does so with knives, guns, piano wire. Not flashy gayness. Seems simple enough. No speedboats, private jets, hidden fortresses. It's all super trite and kiddie friendly. Hit men are bad men who kill people for money. That should be enough to make them compelling without all the other bells and whistles.

COME ON, Showtime! Actually, I have a hard time imagining Ellis giving the go-ahead for something like this, awesome though it would be...
-
seriously, all straight men know better than to stick their hooves into those queen machines, right?
-
there just making movies on comics that haven't been written yet?? eh... fox was good as racer x... who knows how this will turn out though..
-
i love oni books...but i wanna know, who at oni has an in with the suits...company has been around for years, with nary a work optioned, then all of a sudden they are buying stuff that hasnt even been sent to the printer??? who has the inside dope?
-
his Harley has a gatling gun!!!
-
I like him and all, but that pic looks like something out of Vogue or The Advocate.
-
in that photo. I like him though. I know Jack gets a lot of flak from LOST fans, but I really like that character. And, imo, he was the only good thing in SPEED RACER. And I really liked VANTAGE POINT. So yeah, more Foxy please. :)
Only problem is that synopsis insinuates that his character will have to kill himself eventually. So they should edit that or something unless that's not what's going to happen and therefore not spoilery. -
plot makes no sense, how's he going to rid the world of ALL of them? by nuking them all?
-
The last I heard Patrick Stewart had picked up the rights to Transmet and wanted to play Spider. This was four or five years back though. Things may have changed.
