THE WIRE’s Amy Ryan Keeps Her Chair At Dunder Mifflin!!

Published at:  Jun 29, 2008 11:35:35 PM CDT

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

Amy Ryan, whose Holly Flax character replaced Toby Flenderson as the Dunder Mifflin Scranton-branch human resources officer, will return to “The Office” for at least five segments this fall.

Flax and dimwitted branch manager Michael Scott seemed to take a romantic interest in each other in the show’s 4th-season finale, but that blossing romance seemed mowed down by unexpected news from Scott’s ex-girlfriend Jan.

Ryan is well-known to “The Wire” fans as Jimmy McNulty’s love interest for four seasons, and earned an Oscar nomination for “Gone Baby Gone.”

What better way to mix two amazing shows! Amy Ryan was such a high point of the season finale.

    "love interest for four seasons"

    by alonzo mosely

She was in Season 2, not as a love interest. Cameoed in 4 as a love interest and was a semi-regular in 5.

    I contend McNulty ,,,

... had romantic interest in Beadie from the day they met.

    I don't buy that...

    by alonzo mosely

In fact if Dominic West hadn't had to limit his time in season 4, the love interest angle may never have been realized... But I get it Herc, at heart you are a born romantic, so I won't argue the point...

    I contend McNulty

    by jbs0209

... had romantic interest in any female that ranked above a 5,
    Hound dog that he was.
He had a lot of escaped criminals to return. Just ask Bunk & Kima

Wonderful actress and wonderful character. I would enjoy so much in seeinf Michael genuinely happy. No one deserves to go through the vasectomy process several times, while also getting it reversed several times.

    I'm glad she's back

    by throwmetheidol

But I'd be gladder if I heard Todd Packer was going to make a few more appearances. And while we're at it, the AICN sleuths need to figure out what the concept is for the Office spinoff. It surely must have been decided already, it will be on the air in less than 8 months.

    Herc's right about McNulty

    by triceratops on fire

He was after her from the docks. Unfortunately I've yet to see season 5 so I'll take his word for it that she's still around.

    The Office spin-off concept is......

    by nairbo

I remember reading that NBC was developing the movie Outsourced into a series (http://tinyurl.com/6hzxzy). Seems like a natural fit for The Office spin-off, plus it is helmed by Ken Kwapis who directed the pilot for The Office.

Plus, the only announced castmember is Aziz Ansari who again seems to fall in line with a comedy about an Indian call center. And this would be an easy way for portions of Dunder Mifflin to be outsourced and then introduce these new characters.

Not confirmed, but seems highly likely.

    Another rumor is

    by throwmetheidol

That the spinoff will be an adaptation of "the IT crowd", a UK show about IT workers. That they will meld that show, which NBC has the rights to, into an Office spinoff. Also add into the mix is E! quoting a source saying that Rashida Jones will be in the spinoff. But who knows what to believe.

    Sweet Beatrice Russell!

    by ebonic_plague

I contend that, at least at first, she was more into McNutty than vice versa. I mean, he drives her home, after their drink together at the bar where he excuses himself to arrange to visit a prostitute, and she is putting the kids to bed and he basically has the green light to detail her to his unit, but he is rebuked at the last minute by the policeman cookie jar (which, besides Amy Ryan, is the other link between The Wire and The Office (the UK one, at least)) and refrains from tapping said ass. Later on in season 3 he is all about it but he's more concerned with Elena and Rhonda and his Jane Doe than he is Beadie Russell in season 2.

    by rawshark13

Who's willing to bet that they have her and Michael's tension EXACTLY mirror Jim and Pam's from season 1-2? And I mean on purpose, as a joke.

Between "The Wire", "The Office" and (especially) "Gone Baby Gone", this woman clearly has a lot of range.

She was excellent in the finale. Made herself attainable and approachable within seconds of her appearing. Loved her and can see why Kevin wants to "totally bang her"

She is normally not my type, but in the finale of The Office, I couldn't get over how damn attractive she is. I was thinking about her for days!
