Aw Crap! A new HELLBOY II trailer!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. The more I see on this flick, the more pumped I get. I was listening to Guillermo del Toro's XM Satellite Radio interview on Pan's Labyrinth earlier today (gotta love the Film Score Only Channel on XM) and it got me greatly looking forward to the time 9 or 10 days from now I'll be sitting in the theater watching this movie unravel before me.
This new trailer's great and there's a special goodie you can get, too. I had some trouble loading the prologue myself, but I'm going to give it another shot. The trailer itself ran fine!

Still my top pick for the summer.

YOU FILTHY PUNJABI PIECE OF DOG SHIT, I AM SICK OF YOU AND YOUR PATHETIC "EPIPHANIES".
BACK TO THE RAT INFESTED DOG HOLE FROM WHENCE YOU CAME. -
said he wants to make it into two movies. the first one is a straight adaptation of the book. the second will be half continuation of his version and half lead-in to peter jackson's trilogy, which will be made to look exactly like the OG LOTR right down to the lenses and lighting he will use. sounds interesting, but he said he'll make the first one and wait to see if the second feels organic after that.
he also says "fuck" a lot, and hellboy is supposed to be more of a sequel to his movie rather than a continuation of the comic's original story.
that's mostly all i got. -
After Batman, of course!
-
Anyone see that at the end? Has the MPAA been doing that for awhile or is this new? Oh yeah... film looks fucking badass.
-
I am SO looking forward to this movie, but more so I want it to do well just for the sake of Del Toro's awesome idea for a 3rd flick.
-
del toro is hte perfect person to film the hobbit.
-
Damn You Michael Bay
-
I love that animated prologue
-
as Hellboy makes it worth buying a ticket.
-
Which is even more astonishing. Pan's Labyrinth may be the greatest looking for the budget movie of all time.
-
the 720 and 1080-Versions of the HD-trailers look like they have been filmed from a tv-set or a bad videocassette. the small HD-one is fine though. This film looks AWESOME btw. I hope we can see it on Fantasy Filmfest in Berlin, Hellboy 1 was shown there too long before release.
-
I think there's no doubt that this is gonna be an improvement over the first one. Del Toro is just a genius when it comes to this stuff. Plus its nice to see that he's not using cgi for all his characters. After watching shoddy films like "I am Legend" i think there's something to be said for a director that chooses practical effects over computer generated stuff. The bit where Hellboy walks around the fairytail land gave me flashbacks of Tatooine from New Hope.
-
Shoulf!? I'm blaming the bad spelling on my fat fingers.
-
Hellboy 2 is the movie to see. I'm there.
-
This looks like more of the same cliched shit that made the first one blow chunks, so I won't be wasting my money.
-
...which fell kind of flat and was distinctly uninvolving, possibly due to it's extremely poorly pacing, and a bunch of performances that just didn't quite sell as well as they should have done (Abe was great though). We'll see.
-
...makes me wonder if english is indeed my first language. Anyway, my point was I personally found the first to be a disappointment, despite everything on the screen it was all just so detached and uninvolving, so I hope this time DelToro has managed to deliver more than just empty, soulless spectacle.
-
See, I'm quite excited about this film, but this trailer sucks complete balls? I mean, for some reason the footage they put in from the first film (also, what the fuck is up with that) is interlaced, so it just looks dodgy. And the trailer itself isn't really exciting. Do people not understand the point of a trailer? Marketing requires excitement, especially with a film. This isn't selling it for me like the first two trailers did, it feels like a mis-step.
Oh well... -
Damn You MCMLXXVI
-
This film, like the first one, is absolutely beautiful to behold. Look at the character design, the colors, the costumes, the CGI, it's all breathtaking. The first film was good but not great. It started off strong with the whole Nazi mysticism thing, but it really degenerated from there. GDT really has an eye for cinematic design. Oh and watch the Prologue, it's really cool!
-
and it was AWESOME!!1
It made me feel like Willis O’Brien.
Also cock. -
Guillermo's vision and realization of Hellboy are just amazing. Cha-ching!$!$!$
-
Thats why people expected just a little more action from $200 million you splodged on Superman.
Just hope GDT learns from the last Hell Boy which was pretty good until the 3rd act, which was pretty awful.
After Pans Labyrinth though, my hopes are now extremely high. Go GDT !!
Oh and damn you Micahel Bay, Bryan Singer, George Lucas and M Night Shyamalan.
Celery. -
Enjoy your one week at the box office before THE DARK KNIGHT opens.
-
With another big end of game Monster Baddy!I quite enjoyed the first one but it lacked a certain something!and I can never remember how HellBoy actually comes through to our world because from what I can remember there's a portal but you never see him come thru, there's no reason for him to come through? but maybe i missed a bit!?
-
and it was fantastic. I'm gearing up to watch in awe as Del Toro's latest unreels before me at the local cineplex. His ability to go back and forth between Summer blockbuster and small independent films is damn near unparalleled. Not only is he a great filmmaker but he obviously knows a thing or two about the business and how to get films made.
-
which is a lot more than can be said for that Snoozefest™ Batman Begins.
-
Robert Rodriguez, Del Toro...these two motherfuckers can take a budget of 19 million and make it look like ILM and Stan Winston spent billions on the fx. Just sign their asses up for every summer.
-
Cannot wait to see this
-
Yeah, I said it, and I meant it.
-
is probably that not a lot of people saw the first movie. That's my guess, but i'm sure that's what it is. It's not "dodgy", it's very smart- there are probably a large group of people thinking "hey this looks cool, but I didn't see the first one". They will probably promise themselves to watch it on dvd first, never do, and then that's one less ticket at the box office. Also, I was completely unaware that The Hobbit was in his charge before I made that comment about Tolkien. That should be very interesting.
-
That looks Epic.
-
Del Toro, please team up with Clive Barker for a "Nightbreed" remake. Eh, never mind, just give us the Lovecraft movie!
-
Can someone link me up, I'd love to hear what Guillermo was talking about.
-
Seriously, guys? Hellboy? To each pig his own slop.
-
Damn you ernest borgnine
-
I thought they shot this as live action, with the story told by wooden puppets? Thats what was indicated in the "Art of Hellboy 2" book. They had photos and everything. Is this just an animatic that was put up for promotion, or is this the new beginning?
BTW- Screw all you haters. -
Movie 3 should be about Nazi-brains in robots, lead by the clockwork assassin. Then Mecha-Hitler will be revealed at the end, who Red dispatches with a bazooka to the head as a homage to Bionic Commando.
-
Hey...the animated comic on Apple is an online only version of a Comic that Universal created for Wondercon that gives the backstory to the Golden Army. It's not part of the movie but a story extension.
-
this looks like alot of fun...eye candy with a real story...hope the washowki freaks are paying attention
-
All they play, repeatedly: Young Sherlock Holmes, Pan's Labyrinth, Spiderwick Chronicles, Kung-Fu Panda and Wall-E. Every time I have put it on there for the past week, those are the titles I have seen. And, yes, I know there are people who like those titles, but continuously play them? Why not play something new? Maybe a few scores by this small-timer named John Williams, or a guy named John Barry. Maybe, perhaps Alan Silvestri, Howard Shore....Maybe some Rocky, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings.. you know... something for us geeks.. I just don't get it.
-
... half the budget. Awesome director btw.
-
is the main character himself...he looks awesome , but comes across as just a mix of wolverine and Ben Grimm. He doesn't seem to have his own character somehow.
-
Which is still pretty cool. Definitely an After Effects special.
-
Maybe Universal is starting to realize that they need to actually, you know, PROMOTE their films if they want to make any money. If they're smart, they get this shit all over the place real fast, because they have a lot of awareness raising to do.
-
look, you can hate Night's films as much as you want, and whether said in jest or not, calling him a 'filthy Punjabi' is racist, stupid and offensive.
When is it going to be okay to insult someone for their work (or lack of work) and not castigate an entire group of people? Say that with another group, black, Jewish, women, hell, white person and there would be hellish backlash. But I guess Indians and others are just 'filthy' and can be treated any way a moron who calls himself --Emperor-- sees fit.
If AICN can post this stuff unfiltered, it's a sad testament to civil discourse. -
in the previous trailers
-
hb doesnt actually come through the portal (the vortex created by rasputin) - once the portal is open hb just materializes at a random spot in the general vicinity - the first hellboy movie is great - it is unfairly maligned - it played out like a hb comic - hit all the right notes - i find its better with repeat viewings - theres a lot to enjoy there - its not a giant loud superhero movie - but it rivals and surpasses a lot of the big ones
-
i agree - its as offensive as someone attacking spielberg for being jewish because they didnt like the new indy movie - there are some real assholes in here
-
But the stake of the world is what matters. Even if he can't die, if he can't defeat the villains, we're all fucked. That's where the threat is.

I've been looking forward to this movie about as much
by crichtonastronut
as Iron Man and The Dark Knight. I remember seeing the first one and thinking these are really cool, fun characters. I love Hellboy Ron Perlman's great, Selma Blair Liz, and Doug Jones Abe Sapien. I just remember thinking if only they took these great characters established in the first movie and put them in an awesome asskicking epic with a lot more to do, and damn if they didn't do just that.
-
Now those are elves. Not floaty milquetoast Tolkien elves, xenophobic, arrogant nazi-esque Lord Dunsany elves. And Hellboy' beating the crap out of them. Yes please
-
you just proved my point - "the beards jewish nature could have affected the movie"? - what do you mean exactly
-
Ripping on Batman Begins, Hellboy and now TDK and Hellboy II BEFORE they even see them. I understand not LOVING them...but calling them shit because a fight scene wasn't choreographed exactly to their wet dream specifications...or calling Del Toro a hack is just SO over the top. I'm thankful to have such great efforts being made at bringing stuff like this to the big screen and for the most part suceeding. I think Del Toro and Jackson together are going to make the Hobbit better than any of the LOTR installments. Just a hunch.
-
If two indestructible creatures fight, the tension lies in finding out which creature is more indestructable. Fantasy films thrive on split infinitives.
-
But I don;t think there will be any excuses for how awesome this installment will be., Thank god they got it away from SoNY and into Universal. I love Universal,
-
Man, rough...his art was pretty much on the cheesecake 1990's Image tip, but it was eye candy I enjoyed. RIP, man.
-
I had chilli for lunch.
-
It's like Superman. Superman can't die, but everyone else in his main supporting cast is mortal. That's why he's always saving Lois Lane or Jimmy Olsen.
-
how DOES he get his films to look so lush?
-
Michael Turner. Wow, I was never a fan of his art, but that's so sad. He was young. I had no idea he was sick.
-
Duh . . .
-
I mean, I want to see the movie, but that was about as artless and flat as a movie trailer can get.
-
Wow...some of you nasty ol' queens really need to take a good hard look at yourselves. You are truly going to turn into that bitter old hag who screams at the neighborhood kids for letting their ball bounce onto her lawn. It truly seems that you only derive pleasure by being nasty, bitter and hateful towards well, just about everything. What sad pathetic lives that you can't even enjoy a goddamn big dumb movie. Sad.
-
but i cant wait for this movie...just found out that passes for comic con are being auctioned on ebay...fuck...makes me sick to my stomach...wasnt that long ago where you could drive in to downtown sd, park for free, walk up to the con, and get in with no waiting....and meet jack kirby...hollywood, what have you done to my con?
-
i just read through some of that talkback for 'latauro has seen hancock'.... the one where The Founder accused aicn of being racist. yes he did insinuate aicn of being racist, not by being unfair against will smith, but by comparing the site to fox news and its views against obama... those idiots who think mori thinks he was called racist by being unfair to will smith are fucking MORONS... it was the fox news thing. fuck, so many talkbackers are ignorant, petty and DUMB but think they're really smart. just because you're a nerd, doesn't mean you're smart!
-
you are the biggest fool of the bunch... moris point about talkback censorship and infringing on freedom of speech is valid. why is it up to aicn staff to patrol the talkbacks and scan every post to weed out everything that could be considered racist, sexist etc?? its not practical, and the talkbackers should take accountability for their posts, NOT the site. oh... and you're posts are so filled with needless adjectives it practically screams 'look! i have a big vocabularly, i really do! I'm smart!'... really, it just comes across forced and pretentious. you don't need to write a 20 word sentence when 5 words will suffice... not in aicn talkbacks for god sake
-
I've always maintained that Hellboy was one of the better superhero flix, if not the best. Ironman must be viewed a second time to see if it surpasses HB. I always thought the first half of the original Superman joined with the General Zod threat from Superman 2 would make the perfect Superman movie.
-
...it's called "The Lord of the Rings".
-
. . is a minute he isn't working on Mountains Of Madness. If any bigwig types are reading this, please take note that we ALL WANT DEL TORO TO DO MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS.

A "peek" at creature designs from MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS.

When I first saw a trailer from HB2, the shot of the demon with dozens of eyes on its wings made me say, "Son of a bitch, these guys are totally ripping off Wayne Douglas Barlowe's INFERNO!" Took a quick IMDB search to find out why...a large number of the creature designs for HB2 (and the first HB) ARE Barlowe's.
For those not in the know, Barlowe is one of the most unique talents in the SF/Fantasy illustration racket. Many years ago, in the early eighties, he did a "Field Guide To Extraterrestrials" that included one of the creatures from the Lovecraft classic, an Old One, at the link above...a future Del Toro collaboration could be very cool, and very creepy, what with Barlowe's utterly alien approach. -

just saying.
-
...as opposed to who?
-
opening day.
-
So what? Didn't your mom ever tell you two wrongs don't make a right? Oh no! The Germans are treated unfairly! um, you're an idiot.
-
"south park" is intended as comedy - sarcasm - irony - parody - etc. - but you sounded like you were trying to make some valid serious point - the point you were trying to make is the very thing that "south park" pokes fun at - or rather, "south park" and 'the simpsons" make fun of guys like you that think that way - like when grampa simpson makes "drunk irishman" references - the joke isnt on the irish - its on guys in the real world that share grampa's sentiments - get it?
-
Idiots who think their right to offend everyone is the primary value of civilized society don't get that most modern humor satirizes the inherent stupidity in blindly following those rights without facts or integrity. Yes Richard Stark, you genius of bravery, you can make all the Jew/N word/bigoted references on earth you want. The world will feel free to spot you for the cheap, prejudiced dufus you are. Feel free, use all the references you want. We shall simply judge you by what you say.
-
FUCK YOU!!!!!
-
was that it didn't have enough variety. I think they should have had more monsters in it but they kept resurrecting that one until it got old. Plus there were pacing issues but all in all it was a good effort. Hellboy 2 looks amazing, however with a shit load of monsters and variety out the ass. This almost reminds me of a Jim Henson film and I'm sure this is the direction he would have went in had he lived on and made more movies. I say this is the summer film to beat, though I know it won't make Batman numbers, I think it will do well.
-
Nazi occultists, pissed off magical beings, ancient elf robots, super powered humans... wonderful characters and designs. And from 70 mil... holy shit. I can't see how can someone hate on this trailer.
-
is pretty poor. Love the comics and the first movie though
-
except for the issue you and a lot of others seem to have with hb1's pacing - that said, if you know anyone that can make a similar movie with the same scale and production values etc. on the same budget seek them out - hb1 was by most standards a small movie, but it played out with some real grandeur where needed - shot in prague to save money, which there wasnt much to begin with, then piss-poor backing and promotion from the studio - and yet the movie is awesome - i was excited to see a hb movie, and very happy with the results - imagine how bad it couldve been - i heard del toro couldve gotten a bigger budget had he cast vin diesel as hb - and maybe we couldve gotten more monsters and bigger sets in that case, but ron pearlman is hb - he was born to play him - im getting long winded - anyway, i hope this new one is a big hit so we can get a franchise - id like to see movie versions of ben daimio, kate corrigan, roger the homunculus, and lobster johnson - a bprd movie (maybe with hb as just a supporting character)
-
Needs a bit more 常 and a lot less 奇...
-
I might be a bit poor in my Hellboy knowledge but I did not think that the glove came off. If that is the case does he have a second "normal" right hand to light those cigars??
Other than that...I can't fucking wait for this.
-
That's why he can make the movie for $70Mill.
-
In the trailer, when Hellboy says "I wouldn't do that if I were you." he lights his cigar, but with hir right hand. Shouldn't that be the right hand of doom?
-
so this has some way to go to qualify as a good film.
