ScoreKeeper Wants To Tell You About A Cool DARK KNIGHT Contest!!

Published at:  Jun 25, 2008 10:47:36 AM CDT

Greetings! ScoreKeeper here sounding the cool-contest alarm for film music and Batman enthusiasts everywhere.

There’s little denying THE DARK KNIGHT (2008) sports a collection of the coolest posters to grace cinematic walls in the last several years. My good friends over at ScoringSessions.com are sponsoring a drawing to win a free theatrical poster from THE DARK KNIGHT. Four winners will be declared each receiving a poster while a single grand prize winner will get a poster signed by composers Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard!

Now don't get freaked out that they’re asking for donations in order to enter. You don’t have to donate anything. If all you want to do is enter, then cool, there’s a link for that. However, ScoringSessions.com is a small potatoes site that costs money to operate so if you dig reading them as much as I do then you may want to donate a buck or three.

CLICK THE BAT POD...

...and et the completely random selection competition begin!

    by casinoskunk

But Zimmer is such a hack. I would love to see a contest where Zimmer signs a poster along with the seven other guys who get "additional music by" credits! Can we get one that just has James Newton Howard's signature?

    ummm GWEO comics are comic

    by g-ride9000

if he starts shooting people in the movie that's one thing. But stop being so fucking religious about Batman. Guns on a motorcycle look cool. It probable gets fired off at some other vehicle. Batman's similarity to the comics is arbitrary. Certain things work for me, and some don't. I'm sure you'll disagree, but my point is, this movie will rock, and to try and spoil it by getting upset at a design detail, well that's missing the overall picture. So far for me there are alot more dos than don'ts in this film.

i'm not saying the guns ruin it for me,

    by gatsbys west egg omlet

i just don't see how he could use them and still retain his whole "no killing" thing.i'll see it, and i imagine i'll like it, but the guns bug me.

I thought the trailers already ended this gun thing

    by spectrebeeyatch

I thought it was obvious the guns on the pod are meant to shoot walls and doors. Otherwise how would Batman get through those? If you run into them you die so... Blow them the fuck up.

    by g-ride9000

"guns don't kill people, people kill people" hey so I'm glad you said that though dude...that flames on optimus thing got really out of hand on the AICN TB. It was stupid, that movie was stupid and I just didn't like the logevity of that conversation. Bad comparison. You go enjoy that batman, and your literary references. Commander Gride= out.

    Guns, nipples, and flames...who cares?

    by savage lucy

My childhood's sphincter is already numb from the numerous rapings it has taken over the past few years, so I say why not put bigger guns on the thing along with Alfred delivering napalm strikes from the batwing. Hell have Jar Jar come in driving Optimus Prime being chased by a teenaged Rogue as a full fledged member of the Xmen for all I care. My point being, any purist fan is going to be pissed off to some level by any movie featuring a much loved part of their youth. And then the pissed off fan will chime in regarding the latest case of forcible sodomy committed on their childhood. Such is the circle of life on the internet.

    wow hypocrites

    by happy boy

you realize that Batman USED GUNS in some early comics? the character has changed over the years, the idea of Batman as a "non lethal" character is more a reaction to censorship in the 50s than anything else(marketing to preteen boys, every comics character had to become "non lethal" in order to stay viable in the face of new parents groups and a more conservative country). the CORE of Batman is a ripoff of ZORRO, THE SHADOW, SCARLET PIMPERNEL, and to a lesser degree Doc Savage... ie superior man who uses stealth, FEAR and SUPERIOR WILL to combat criminals. the core of the batman character is a classic "vengence on the wicked" theme. "never uses guns" is more of a gimmick or side characteristic of the character originally to make the stories more interesting (othewise every story would end with him picking off entire platoons of thugs from long range). I laugh my ass off at people who are okay with wide discretion with the character (such as making him a ninja) but certain things like apparent accouterments to the batcycle is like SOOOOOO outrageous. get a brain people

    JNH? Cool. Zimmer? Lame

    by minderbinder

I have to agree, it would be cooler to have one with just James Newton Howard, or even one with no autographs than one with Zimmer. That's one thing I didn't like about the first one, the music was bland and boring. They need to get someone with real talent, not that hack. And DANNYGLOVERS_DICKBLOOD, that IS a spoiler...so why are you posting it??

    by happybunni

And you get a tax rebate. Although they did have a super good idea buying four $5 posters, sponsoring a "contest", which really just seems like an advertisement for them to get donations. If they get $20 in donations they break even!

    Batman has killed on screen

    by campion

In '89 he flipped a guy from the bell tower to the bottom of the church. Well, he didn't kill on purpose, but it's still there. He uses explosives in that film too when he destroys the chemical plant. I'm sure there were some people in there. Generally Batman won't kill anyone in cold blood though. The only superhero in a movie I've seen kill someone deliberately (not counting Punisher, cause thats his thing), is Daredevil. Right in the beginning of that film he threw someone in front of a subway train.

    Batman kills

    by dennismm

After 1941 he wouldn't deliberately kill a human being. Some sentient supernatural creatures died at his hands, but killing wasn't his thing. However, he wasn't as opposed to killing as Superman; Batman would try to prevent the death even of a villain, but if it happened, it happened. Lotsa death, little premeditation. Quaint, isn't it?
