Empire Online has the new trailer to Guy Ritche's ROCKNROLLA. It stars Gerard Butler,
Jeremy Piven, Thandie Newton, and Tom Hardy (Picard clone boy from NEMESIS) and is about...well...

SEE FOR YOURSELF!!!

Look for it to open in the U.S. 'round the same time as Bond.

    uhm Madonna was doing okay

    by arcadiands

as far as her movies were concerned. She wasn't exactly the rebirth of Streep, but she was headlining in movies that were getting some traction. She was getting work and doing movies.
Then she had this 'PR wedding' where they both basically agree to promote one another on the road. Madonna was wearing t-shirts that screamed "nipple, husband's movie, nipple" everwhere she went. She talked about him like the second coming of Orson Welles, and meanwhile he just sat back like a schmuck and shrugged his shoulders when anyone asked him about his wife.
His movies stink like fresh turds in the hot humid afternoon, and Madonna hasn't been able to get a studio to even return her calls ever since.
also, people who type "1st?" are assvipers and deserve to get their ears boxed with trashcan lids. It was my pleasure and honor to crush all their hopes and dreams for this thread, and it is my gift to you.

Sonny Landham is running for U.S. Senate!

    by mistere

Sonny Landham, also known as Billy in "Predator" and as Billy Bear in "48 Hours", is launching a bid for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Minority Leader Republican Mitch McConnell! Landham will be running as a Libertarian. I probably wouldn't vote for him if I was from Kentucky, but thought that the news was pretty cool.

    Ritchie and Shyamalan

    by creasybear

Both are the rare directors who provide material not "based on __", but both of them are inconsistent (inconsistent meaning Snatch and Lock Stock were well done, and the Sixth Sense and Unbreakable were well done, all other movies from both of them fascinatingly inept.)

but then again so do all Guy Ritchie movies. Too bad that most of time the looks are the only good thing about them. Revolver really stunk, but I still have hopes for this, and I'm gonna watch it no matter what anyway. Wilkinson, Butler and Piven alone are enough to drag me in the cinema.

yeah, it looks 'cool', 'fun' etc. but isn't it kinda like Ritchie saying "shit, no-one liked Revolver, better change the names on the snatch script"? As much as people seemed to hate Revolver (which wasn't terrible), I think it might have been interesting to see ONE more film of his, as opposed to this, which seems like the film audiences wanted him to make, i.e. playing it safe. Make sense?

"THE PIPE" (Crackpipe of course) THE WATERFALL (Watson doing golden showers), MORIATY (Please Drew, don't do it!) 10 BAKER STREET (A mockney in a cap). Man it's so tired.

Revolver was not a piece of crap.

    by salamimansam

Sorry guys. If you wanted a gunslut movie, Smoking Aces did it, yeah? Revolver on the other hand was a well constructed piece of mind-fuckery.
Ritch has made exactly one solid gold piece of crap, and that is called "Swept Away". We can all agree on that.
When "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrells" came out in theaters, it fucking OWNED the cinema. You simply hadn't seen anything like it at the time. Put that together with Trainspotting, and later, the Matrix, and you have officially killed cinema as it was and started a whole new breed of film-maker.
But since we are dealing with some seriously cynical and jaded fat-asses on this site, I guess it follows they would sit around dissing ROCKNROLLA whilst fapping to Smoking Aces (Which was way, way lamer than it should have been btw).
Yes. I am actually pissed abou tthis and yes, it is embarrasing to be pissed about something so trivial.

    by biggerandbetterthanyou

    Are you retarded?
I cant understand how movie buffs such as yourselves, lets face it if you post in AICN you’re a buff, can have a dig at a director for returning to a genre he excels at. Does the name Scorsese ring any bells?
Ritchie, at his best, makes cartoons……fast paced, ingenious dialogue and beautifully shot. There’s no denying than even Revolver looked stunning, even if the plot was as hard to digest as a Korean Hotdog with a spicy Kabbalah relish.
Let’s just pretend that SW (can’t even bring myself to type the title) never happened……
This will be an entertaining English gangster romp that the kids will be quoting for years to come……
But if your lack of faith turns out to be justified and the milk is sour……then this cat might just have to drink his words.

Fingers crossed for a return to form. Rock-on-Ritchie……
