Merrick here...
Empire Online has the new trailer to Guy Ritche's ROCKNROLLA. It stars Gerard Butler,
Jeremy Piven, Thandie Newton, and Tom Hardy (Picard clone boy from NEMESIS) and is about...well...
SEE FOR YOURSELF!!!
Look for it to open in the U.S. 'round the same time as Bond.

"Those are some ANGRY titties."
-
looks a little like DeNiro, no?
-
You should be thanking ArcadianDS, he stopped you from being a stupid cunt. Sheesh! Anything by Guy Ritchie (as it's correctly spelled Merrick) is to be avoided in my book. So this whole Talkback can be flushed down the bog along with the rest of the shit, where it belongs *whoosh*
-
I'll take a look at this one. I love Tom Wilkinson'd line... "He tried to poison me, the dirty cossack cunt!"
-
he nuked HER career?not the other way around?
-
That piece of shit made Smokin' Aces look like Goodfellas.
-
Won't play the damn thing.

IT'S ABOUT FUCKIN TIME GUY PUT SOMETHING NEW OUT
-
Got my $10.

While I like Snatch (although not as much as many other people do) I hope it's different. I just hate when talented directors have to rip off themself, just to please the crowd.
-
Idris Elba is the man, who knew that he hails originally from Hackney in London. Allright Geezer.

as far as her movies were concerned. She wasn't exactly the rebirth of Streep, but she was headlining in movies that were getting some traction. She was getting work and doing movies.
Then she had this 'PR wedding' where they both basically agree to promote one another on the road. Madonna was wearing t-shirts that screamed "nipple, husband's movie, nipple" everwhere she went. She talked about him like the second coming of Orson Welles, and meanwhile he just sat back like a schmuck and shrugged his shoulders when anyone asked him about his wife.
His movies stink like fresh turds in the hot humid afternoon, and Madonna hasn't been able to get a studio to even return her calls ever since.
also, people who type "1st?" are assvipers and deserve to get their ears boxed with trashcan lids. It was my pleasure and honor to crush all their hopes and dreams for this thread, and it is my gift to you. -
Sonny Landham, also known as Billy in "Predator" and as Billy Bear in "48 Hours", is launching a bid for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Minority Leader Republican Mitch McConnell! Landham will be running as a Libertarian. I probably wouldn't vote for him if I was from Kentucky, but thought that the news was pretty cool.

i wasn't thinking of movies as her career.
-
The trailer is all over the frickin' place (at least a little HINT of a narrative structure would've been nice)But I'm sure it'll be very entertaining ... and people will STILL be hating on Revolver. (Get over it already!)
-
I like it, It looks interesting. but i dunno... I dunno... I was bored in parts of the trailer... never good... Sometimes it seems like there is 1 or 2 too many charactors
-
someone yelling "IT WAS A BLOODBATH, GUVNAH!!!"
-
need Mickey from Snatch to come back and punch everybody in the face. Just imagine how cool a Snatch sequel would be if they made it all about Mickey screwing over some big English types again.
-
Wanky Spunk Wanky Spunk Wanky Spunk Wanky Spunk Wanky Spunk Wanky Spunk Wanky Spunk Wanky Spunk Wanky Spunk
And that's essentially how I feel about this movie. Goodnight. -
and you know why elba

Nice to see Guy back in form, hopefully. My money will go to this for sure, Bond is old, outdated and boring.
-
Both are the rare directors who provide material not "based on __", but both of them are inconsistent (inconsistent meaning Snatch and Lock Stock were well done, and the Sixth Sense and Unbreakable were well done, all other movies from both of them fascinatingly inept.)
-
Snatch is one of my favorites
-
but then again so do all Guy Ritchie movies. Too bad that most of time the looks are the only good thing about them. Revolver really stunk, but I still have hopes for this, and I'm gonna watch it no matter what anyway. Wilkinson, Butler and Piven alone are enough to drag me in the cinema.
-
Guy Ritchie is back ladies and gentlemen.
-
I can't take it anymore! (Everyone!) We didn't start the fire; it was always burning since the world's been turning! We didn't start the fire....
-
Is it just me, or does he look like Carl Reiner in this movie with that bald dome? Flick still looks like tons-o-fun, but I just thought it was Carl Reiner 'till I heard the voice!
-
yeah, it looks 'cool', 'fun' etc. but isn't it kinda like Ritchie saying "shit, no-one liked Revolver, better change the names on the snatch script"? As much as people seemed to hate Revolver (which wasn't terrible), I think it might have been interesting to see ONE more film of his, as opposed to this, which seems like the film audiences wanted him to make, i.e. playing it safe. Make sense?
-
Are you sure you didn't mean Monkey Spunk, which this trailer most certainly is? The film will contain more suckage than a Dyson factory.
-
... "From the director of Swept Away"? In any event, anything with Stringer Bell, on a moped looking goofy, is worth seeing in my book. P.S. And come on, no one SAW Revolver, after all.
-
one year after Snatch we would have called a perfect conclusion to Guy Ritchie's Pass'n'Quid Trilogy. However, now we live in a world with Layer Cake, Lucky Number Slevin and *gulp* Smokin' Aces; he's an imitation of himself now.
-
But fuck it, I'm in. Revolver is out generation's Plan 9 from Outer Space, but Lock Stock and Snatch are great.

That totally made my day. Peter Travers is one of the few critics I almost always agree with.
-
it was a piece of crap, though.
-
Which were already horrendous retreads. MTV pretentious cool. I feel a migraine coming on...
-
even if it does star Super Hans!!
-
Oh man, I don't want to start the hate but it's the SHAME SHITE again! Locks stocks maguffin was the shotguns, Snatch the diamonds and here (as the identical credits to snatch tell us) is THE PAINTING. I can bet right now the only decent thing in this will be toby cotterril as the rock star. Man, how many more can he get away with? And just imagine the credits for his "sherlock Holmes" udpate. "THE PIPE" (Crackpipe of course) THE WATERFALL (Watson doing golden showers), MORIATY (Please Drew, don't do it!) 10 BAKER STREET (A mockney in a cap). Man it's so tired.
-
looks very nice!
-
7 million Euros?
It's official. A Euro may have some financial heft to it now, but it still doesn't sound very glamorous. 7 million pounds? 7 million dollars? Now those sound sexy. Even yen and deutchmark roll of the tongue better. -
No Madonna.
-
Superhans is in it... if you don't know who Superhans is, well, unlucky for you. The secret ingriedient is crime!
-
At least try to broaden your horizons Jeremy. Since Smokin Aces was such a piece of shit in the first place.
-
But I like funny accents.

if your ritchie you just replace key plot item in every movie
by burgerking
then you make a new movie and people will see it. Shotguns, diamond, painting. Everything else is the same more or less, colourful cast of criminals from different backgrounds introduced with stylized text etc etc. Oh well, like a typical Ritchie flick, it does look entertaining.
-
Sorry guys. If you wanted a gunslut movie, Smoking Aces did it, yeah? Revolver on the other hand was a well constructed piece of mind-fuckery.
Ritch has made exactly one solid gold piece of crap, and that is called "Swept Away". We can all agree on that.
When "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrells" came out in theaters, it fucking OWNED the cinema. You simply hadn't seen anything like it at the time. Put that together with Trainspotting, and later, the Matrix, and you have officially killed cinema as it was and started a whole new breed of film-maker.
But since we are dealing with some seriously cynical and jaded fat-asses on this site, I guess it follows they would sit around dissing ROCKNROLLA whilst fapping to Smoking Aces (Which was way, way lamer than it should have been btw).
Yes. I am actually pissed abou tthis and yes, it is embarrasing to be pissed about something so trivial.
-
Terrible, terrible, ungodly awful. I didn't even make it all the way through. I'm ashamed to be British seeing that. Guy Ritchie = One Trick Pony, and it's a shit trick. Fuck off Ritchie and never come back. Never.
-
Okay, I'm not really a fan of Ritchie. His movies lack any real depth. He's essentially a limey Tarantino. That being said, he is a superb shooter (much stronger than Tarantino) and appears to be getting better with each picture. This one looks like it could be fun. I'll rent it.
-
Superhans - best comic creation ever!
-
Why do talented people constantly remake their own movies in increasingly inferior ways? Nothing unique, original, exciting, or interesting going on here.
-
Anger with the Academy Awards still resonates.
CHILDREN OF FUCKING MEN!!!
-
In the field of the Cockney geezer gangster movie, Ritchie has carved out a respectable niche. If nothing else, it's got a very interesting cast (with the exception of the useless Thandie Newton).
-
I can wait.
-
Me: "One for Rocknrolla?" Ticket booth: "What? Fuck you!"
-
That you didn't love lock stock and snatch. Quit pretending you aren't going to eat this shit up when it hits. You're all a bunch of bitter, lying fags.
-
Damn You MCMLXXVI
-
I'll see this. I enjoyed Snatch and Lock Stock so why not?
-
Are you retarded?
I cant understand how movie buffs such as yourselves, lets face it if you post in AICN you’re a buff, can have a dig at a director for returning to a genre he excels at. Does the name Scorsese ring any bells?
Ritchie, at his best, makes cartoons……fast paced, ingenious dialogue and beautifully shot. There’s no denying than even Revolver looked stunning, even if the plot was as hard to digest as a Korean Hotdog with a spicy Kabbalah relish.
Let’s just pretend that SW (can’t even bring myself to type the title) never happened……
This will be an entertaining English gangster romp that the kids will be quoting for years to come……
But if your lack of faith turns out to be justified and the milk is sour……then this cat might just have to drink his words.
Fingers crossed for a return to form. Rock-on-Ritchie……
-
I thought she was hideous looking in her last movies like crash,Norbit shit like that... She hasn't looked this good since MI2 and it took Guy Ritchie's camera skills to get that look again.. I'll be there opening day...
-
More like lock, stock 3.
Looks like a right royal cockney barrel of monkeys, make no mistake. -
I like that his re-imergence into film comes finally now that him and Madonna are done. That cunt made him make Swept Away! I dug the shit out of Lock Stock and Snatch, very pleased to see Ritchie doing what he does best. And it's got Jeremy Piven, I'm in.
-
Yep, I sait it.
-
complete and utter trash. this looks a little better.
-
is more accurate.
