The Ron Moore/Michael Taylor Fox Sci-Fi Pilot VIRTUALITY Casts Its Mission Commander!!

Published at:  Jun 24, 2008 1:27:25 AM CDT

I am – Hercules!!

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who played the immortal homicide detective on “New Amsterdam,” will play starship commander Frank Pike in “Virtuality,” the soon-to-shoot Fox sci-fi pilot created by “Battlestar Galactica” writer-producers Ron Moore and Michael Taylor.

Moore and Taylor are both veterans of the “Star Trek” franchise, so the character’s name may be an homage to early Enterprise captain Chris Pike (who could still be cavorting with Vina on Talos IV).

Who gives a shit if Moore was part of Star Trek? He's surpassed that now. By far.

One more reason to check this out

New Amsterdam was shit, but he wasn't bad in it. Although, I fully admit I could be blinded by his drop-dead sexiness. Sorry for the shallowness, guys, but that's a handsome man. He should be Thor.

Pike in his prime might actually have been able to take out Kirk But Benjamin Lafayette Sisko would have put them both down blindfolded. Though why they would choose to fight him blindfolded is beyond me.

Good choice for the captain. Not a household name, but brimming with potential.
I'm excited to see where Moore is going with this.

    I loved New Amsterdam

    by oisin5199

Maybe because I'm a sucker for immortal stories that don't involve vampires. Though I guess I am when they involve vampires too, but not as much. Anyway, the show had a lot of style and potential, waaay better than that insipid, shallow Moonlight show. I was really curious what would have happened with the 'true love' story if the show had continued. Plus, Zuleikha Robinson was still hot, but not as hot with a New York accent as she is with a British accent. NA and Journeyman were my 2 biggest cancellation disappointments this year, which is funny because both the NA guy (as someone mentioned) and the Journeyman guy would make a great Donald Blake (aka Thor). Though I wonder if they're going for the same actor to play both Blake and Thor.

    Snooze Amsterdam Was Stinky Cheese

    by cowboyone

I'll give it a chance if Moore is the brains of the operation, but this Keyser-Soze guy struggling with the american dialect really hampers any type of believable acting. I can't believen anyone would cast him after seeing New Amsterdam.
