Because The Undead Crave Pizza!! A New & Cool Trailer For THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR Unwraps On The Internets...
Merrick here...
A new trailer for Rob Cohen's THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR is online over at the Papa John's Pizza website. When I woke up this morning, how could I have anticipated writing a sentence as wondrously obscure as that? Life is good.
Much of the new trailer consists of variations on material we saw in the previous trailer, but there's some new stuff as well. And...it's still looking surprisingly unsucky.
SEE IT HERE!!!
Seems the Papa John's site is getting slammed hard. If you can't get the trailer to load, you can also find it at the director's official blog, HERE!
NOTE: the Papa John's site offers the trailer in multiple forms of Glorious QuickTime - Cohen's blog does not.

the mummy films still suck.
-
Loved the first one, second one was 'meh'. But this one seems to have an edge not seen yet. It's got a great release date too.
-
with extra cheeeeeeesssssseee.
-
... that this could actually be better than "The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". Okay, it's just sad really, but I thought the headline sounded better.
-
not saying that it'll be better. but that's def. a better trailer.
-
Who'd a thunk it?
-
Who was it that suggested the films should have become a Rick O Connell series with him taking on a diferent mythical creature in each one (dracula, wolfman etc) rather than just another mummy? That idea was kinda cool.
-
Well, the Mummy 3's trailer was far more entertaining than all of the putrid Indy 4. Plus Yeti's and a Ghidorah-like dragon? I will be there opening day.
-
I'm just here for the comments

I'll be spilling garlic butter all over your movie seat before you sit down!

I just looked that up myself. Couldn't believe he turns 40 this year. Johnny Depp looks younger the older he gets...damn actors!!

Papa John's has this...Domino's has a Gotham City Pizza...
by filmcritic3000
Weird...I just had Papa John's for dinner last night.
Anyway, it looks like the movie marketing people are foregoing the usual burger chain tie-ins this time, which is a nice way to shake things up. -
ICE CREAM PARTY AT WORK!!!!!!!!! WOO HOO! Thank you corporate america!
-
its 420, but it looks fun.
-
"They really resurrected the mummy", for when a movie series does the same thing yet again. Like "Sure Daniel Craig is a bit different as Bond but the rest of the film will resurrect the mummy, don't worry."
-
Well....except maybe the Dark Knight.
-
I liked the other 2, they weren't great, but fun.
-
Should be a euphemism for getting a boner.
Just saying. -
that way Lucas and Spielberg could of gotten a clue. I thought the first MUMMY was silly and fun. I thought the second MUMMY was silly and not fun. This trailer looks pretty good.
-
A few years ago after my annual physical my doctor gave me cake. Alas, she had no ice cream. At least she didn't offer me any.
-
Loved the first one - hated the second.
You know John Hannah was begging for this fucker to be made! $$$ -
I had a few beers and this shit looks awesome. Like "the kind of movie we've been waiting for" awesome. I'll sit in the theater with beers for sure.
-
in Rachel's vagi---oh wait wrong movie and actress.
-
But there are more aesthectically pleasing moments in this trailer than the entire INDY 4 debaccle. I have a feeling it will still be a turd though. Rob Cohen has mad a decent movie since...since...okay one scene in Dragonheart, where the dragon swims underwater, and the score swells. That's it. And I think Jessica Biel was half naked in Stealth.
-
Second didn't bring anything new and this one just looks like shit. Talk about 1999 cgi fx.
-
...ignore Maria Bello the ENTIRE trailer? We get 3 millisecond shots of a raven haired woman, who we are to assume is "Evey" and they don't even mention her character once.
-
Best thing about that flick was the fucking hot knife fight flashback. Who's with me?
-
Like hordes of undead Asian warriors. Mike mine with extra cheese and the low fat zombies.
-
And makes me more excited to see this film. But I thought the Mummy 2 was perfectly good, for what it was. Not great, but I certainly enjoyed watching it. I think this film will be better than Mummy 2, if nothing else.
-
Fuck it, I am so there...
-
Crooning in the background while I decide what I want on my pizza.
-
I am still after nuking the fridge into a jungle full of monkeys and gophers for each and everyone who liked INDY 4.I guess we're even. :)
-
Will be this years Nuked the Fridge.
-
is two things I would wish upon no one. Both inflict a pain upon the victim that no person should every have to endure.
-
Damn my poor Grammar! And Damn You !
-
Damn you HTML parser!!!!
-
I think I am sold. Count me in!
-
Unless solid word of mouth says otherwise, I'll be ignoring this when it's released. I can't stand Brendan Fraiser in these films and those stupid one liners he always shouts out... and my eyes are hurting from the amount of CGI I've had to ingest over the past year. Sorry, I'll stick with Indy 4.
-
is this generation's equivalent if Doug McClure. Hunky actor, will never get Hollywood accolades, but turns out one semi-entertaining piece of action fluff after another.
-
Phil Collins sucks. Are you with me?
-
I mean who cared about another Mummy film? Hence why this one looks somewhat entertaining - going a different direction helps, as does Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh shame about the lack of Weisz but I like Bello plenty fine so no complaints there) though I couldnt help but notice that the new Alex seems to have a dreadful accent. Ah well.
-
the adventurers' grown-up kids? Sweet!
-
I will be there. Perhaps not opening weekend (I can't give Cohen *THAT* much satisfaction), but I will be there. And yeah, why *isn't* Michelle Yeoh given ANY billing?? "This has not been a Talkback Post about Indy 4."
-
Sigh. I cry every time I see her. I guess MUMMY 3 won't make me cry.
-
..but what do I know, Ive seen Indy IV multiple times, and I love it.
-
That would so funny.I have very little to NO expectations with movies anymore but this looks like a fun filled adventure...and sometimes thats all that I need.
-
It just looks like a film that has just copied a bunch of other films.
-
I think that's what you meant, Kurz. Shit on a crust smothered in Mozzarella, fresh veggies, and Rob Cohen's famous white sticky sauce.
-
And I really hate cheesey bad dialogue.
-
As a die-hard Indy lover, as well as the older source material, I've always held a soft spot for the two Mummy films. The first one Ive always loved, and seem to get sucked in even when in its been on cable so much recently (if its on a hi-def channel). I wouldnt expect to find it on Turner Classics now or anytime in the future, but its still a very enjoyable movie for me. The shot of all the cowboy-types on the boat firing away going "Yeehawww" and the (sp?) "Ammmerrricans..." line always gets a big laugh. Second one is okay( you have to dock points for the blimp and CGI at the end, 'natch, only a broken reel could take you out of the film more), but it doesnt get nearly the replay around here like the first one does. I think Fraser works well in the role, though when he's fighting all the mummies at the end I cant help but get a misty-eyed fanboy hankering for Bruce Campbell to step in and kick even more ass. The score in the first one is rising up the charts here too lately.
-
...is the new Nuked the Fridge.
-
Just to see Jet Li vs. Michelle Yeoh again like in Tai Chi Master.
-
They'd offer free slices in the theatre to everyone that attends this showing. Two birds with one stone, Copernicus.
-
hardly shows Maria Bello, and cuts so fast that you can hardly tell who it is.I like Maria Bello, too, but will miss Rachel in this.Seems like the studio marketing folks are concerned about the impact of her absence, too.
-
finally a summer movie that realizes it is a summer movie! Now only if Brendan Fraser rides a taun-taun and gets attacked by the wampa in the trailer all will be right in the universe! And bring on the Arnold Vosloo cameo! You all know you want it!

by mattmanreturns
Stop saying this "looks good."
-
I'll just pretend Fraser is wearing a fedora the whole time. And dream of what could have been.
-
I felt more excited about this trailer than KOTCS, which is a shame
-
Ann Hathaway's Pink Taco? Must have one. Please.
-
And that one was quite good too. I'll be in the theater watching this.
-
I liked the first 2 and the scorpion king so I am a fan. This trailer looks better than the entire Indy 4 movie.
-
That's why I'm going.
-
"the Expession "nuked the fridge" is so popular now"
Popular? my ass...it is a weak example of people trying too hard to coin a phrase..and its getting very old ....I had my fill of it the second time i saw it posted..it sounds like something I might hear coming out of the mouth Francis from PvP.... -
Old enough to have a son that age. The son looks like he's a few years younger than his "dad". If Weisz didn't want to be in this movie, they should have pulled an Alien3 and killed her and the son offscreen. The uncle was the only supporting character worth bringing back.
-
Apparently the only good thing to come out of Bram Stoker's Dracula is the opening music. I hear it used in so many trailers, it ain't even funny.
-
should have been Johnny Storm in the FF movies. It wouldn't have saved the shitpile that was made of those two films, but it would have made them slightly more enjoyable. Jessica Alba.
-
No John Williams music. What's sad is there trying to impress us in 2008 with a million man CGI army. That's so late 20th century/ early 21st century. Didn't ROTK milk that cow dry in 2003?
-
good popcorn movie...nothing more, nothing less...but fraser kinda creeps me out
-
I mean, it's not exactly hard to beat. But this looks like a fun sequel, not that much substance but that's what everyone is expecting. Perfect popcorn fodder.
-
...about "nuke the fridge" is that it's apparently supposed to be the new "jumped the shark". Most people using it in this context don't properly understand the original phrase. It's not just the point where a film takes a nose dive into the unbelievable. When Fonzie jumped the shark, it was during the Jaws craze in the 1970s, meaning that Happy Days ludicrously tried to cash in on a pop cultural phenomenon in order to restore the show's ratings. Indy 4, while shit in many other ways, attempted no such embarrassing maneuver. In other words, "nuke the fridge" was deader than shit even before it left the gates.
So please, for the love of decent memes everywhere, drop that lame-ass phrase. -
I thought the recent Indy film was dross. However, this Mummy film looks much more fun than the series it mimiced. How crazy is that?
-
Surviving a small nuclear blast from a couple miles away by hiding in a lead-lined fridge is ridiculous, while a 3000 year old box of sand that melts peoples' faces off is brilliant cinema? Really? I mean, really?!
-
just like everything else in the cinima. "Nuke the Fridge" is not as funny as the old expression. Just like how Indy4 was not an improvement.
-
much of which wasn't even CGI. This is practically a cartoon and you're jerking off all over it.

by godely3
What has been said about the Mummy 3 is that it is mainly bad.I mine you know a film heading in the wrong direction if it just rips of Indiana Jones The Temple of Doom at the start of the film. If you don't believe me go to IESB.net they have the full review. This doesn't surprise me since the mummy films have always been awful films. I'll be honest sometimes I really feel bad for Brendan Fraser who will be being remembered for this series.
-
.... sorry.
-
... that I haven't missed anything to begin with. Come on? Brenden Fraser? Please. I don't care how bad Indy 4 was, this one won't be on par w/ that one. And yes I dig Weisz and esp. Bello but don't like the dude from the Pauly Shore film from when I was a kid. Name escapes me.
And don't get me started on Mr. Cohen. If he makes a decent film than I"ll eat my hat! Uwe could give him a run for his money. -
on their resume: Lethal Weapon 4, Shanghai Noon, Showtime w/ Eddie and Robert D, Herbie Fully Loaded, Spiderman 2, Aquaman.
Not exactly my type of entertainment. But that's ok. "One mans trash is another ones treasure," as they say. -
They'd be better off killing off the character than trying to conceal her absence. And the son is like 21 now? What is he, Worf's son?
-
Let's go.And wtf? He did put down two mummies... Imhotep or whatever the bald dude's name was and the Scorpion King.
-

what the hell @ his son being older than mutt williams
by smoke monster loves kate
while brendan fraser looks the SAME AGE as the other movies? and indy's kid being hardly a teen while he's an old man. it's like a twilight zone version of Indy 4. looks like it has a better premise though.
-
why's this movie look so much better than indy 4. aside from fraser being the worst part of this and ford being the best part of indy 4.
-
saw it with my uncle, was greatly disappointed, it has just a few cool moments (like the shot of Shangri-la), but was overwhelmed by an overall feeling of meh, bottom line it lacked the fun atmosphere of the first 2
-
Gonna have to catch it as a d/l
