After No country and the coen's oscar haul..

    by emeraldboy

It is going to be a downhill slide for them. I hope not. But I have a feeling. I got the coens collected on Dvd. The Man who wasnt there is a great film. Really really great. I loved no country but would i want to sit through it again. I dont know. The scene in the motel was one of the finest things I have scene at the movies in years. A magnificent film. I really liked Jesse James as well. Pitt's finest performance. I loved the scene at the dinner table. Where pitt is mentally grilling Casy affleck about the death of one of the James gang. rivetting stuff. And I saw sweeney. I love burtons films but this one left me cold for some reason. Depps performance was amazing. It looked great. but I just couldnt sit through on DVD. I want to see what burton does with ALice in Wonderland.

Future casting choice for the Coens

Sam Rockwell would be great in whatever role the Coens could write for him.I still think one of my favorite "retro" posters of recent years is Out Of Sight. Any others come to mind??

You do realize that this is probably made with Photoshop?

    by derlanghaarige

I mean Photoshop is one of THE programs in the industry, so just because it isn't cut & pasted actors photos with lense flare, it doesn't mean it isn't made with Photoshop.

    The script is good BUT....

    by pleasebanme

No one should expect a new Big Lebowski, as it's nowhere near as funny. People should keep their expectations a bit low for this one. Brad Pitt's character is very funny but it will almost surely be regarded as a relatively minor effort by the Coens.

This will be an excellent follow-up flick for them. I love the way this movie looks so far. I'm excited! And it's great that they followed up their Oscar win with a movie the very next year. I know Paul Thomas Anderson is gonna take his sweet ass-fucking time with his next movie. GRRR!

You guys mean the red, orange, yellow international (UK?) poster, right? Out of Sight is on of my favorite movies, but I never liked the American version with Clooney and Lopez's heads and a big gun. The international version rocks though.

good that a major movie poster doing something so retro will inspire others to look beyond the blue-and-sepia-lit-huge-face-on-black formula.but bad that this is so retro it's unoriginal. i know i know, homage and all, but still. i think i got the same font from dafont like a year ago too.

All those names on the poster makes it a visual mess. Too many letters and as a group they are not a very interesting shape. The two subjects (gun/arm and guy) should have the most contrast if you squint your eyes. Not great. That's just my opinion of course.

Not as catchy as the 1971 Quaker Oats logo, but it'll do in a pinch. I'm always a sucker for Bass-inspired artwork as well as predominantly red/black/white color schemes.

As far as the movie goes, I just checked out the red-band on YouTube and was pleasantly impressed. After NCFOM and hopefully this, I'll once again be comfortable to list the Coens among my very favorites.
