The Big Chillier?? William Hurt To Reunite With Glenn Close On FX’s DAMAGES!!
I am – Hercules!!
A quarter century after Lawrence Kasdan’s “Big Chill,” William Hurt (“The Incredible Hulk”) has taken his first regular TV series role as the client and former flame of Glenn Close’s steely lawyer Patty Hewes on the second season of “Damages.”
Rose Byrne and Tate Donovan also return for the second season, which starts shooting next week. No word on Ted Danson resurrecting Arthur Frobisher – which suggests Hurt is his de facto replacement.
The series is expected to return to FX in early 2009.

Hah. Will Meg Tilly show up?
-
Could go on forever. Kevin Kline, Kevin Costner (even though his part was cut). Jeff Goldblum? Tom Berenger? I might actually watch the show.
-
I don't expect him to, since he was killed in the first story by a disgruntled and manipulated ex-employee.
-
Eerie...I clicked here RIGHT after reading an interview w/Hurt that's on cnn.com right now. I don't think he..nor any actor alive...could come off as more of a humorless douchebag if he tried. http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Movies/06/16/william.hurt/index.html The interviewer deserves a Pulitzer for not jamming his pen into Hurt's brain thru his nose.
-
Goddamn it. I can't wait that long!
-
Because that would be painful to watch again.
-
will ruin the series. I read somewhere that Ted Danson said the producers were considering having it so that Frobisher survives the shooting. But I don't know what that would do for the credibility of the show.
-
This was a very cool show to watch. I love FX.
-
I was hoping Art wouldn't bleed out. That was Dansen's best work in years. Oh well, ashes to ashes...
-
Finally saw it a month ago. Can't say I liked it all that much. Good acting, but a movie from the 80's about friends from the 60's really doesn't hold up to well in 2008. Or maybe I was just drunk.
-
Who has weirder delivery?
-
damages now has the title of best show that no one watches.
-
Wasn't Ted shot in the middle of nowhere at the end of season 1?
-
Started out a bit slow but if you are in for the long haul and not for a quick 60 minute tv fix then this show is worthwhile. Last seasons final episodes paid off and built to one of the best season ending episodes of any show in recent years.
and though Ted Danson was amazing as Frobisher, to keep him around as a nemesis season after season would get old. The real dynamic is Close and Rose Byrne and Donovan. As long as they make a story as compelling as last season, and with William Hurt...sounds good. -
I really loved the first season much more than I expected, and I've been waiting forever to hear news on the second season. I'm surprised it's taking so long to get it out.
-
Can't they combine DAMAGES and DEXTER? Have Dexter work a case that Patty's covering. That'd be the shit.... --G
-
Ted Danson was fucking awesome but the main draw of Season 2 is Patty vs Ellen & the FBI. As much as I love Frobisher's character, I don't think bringing him back would do the show any favors.
-
Ah yes, remembering DAMAGES... We were all so much younger then.
I think one of the most sublime sequences in the entire show was when Frobisher flipped out on the guy who was going to write his biography. Such an amazing meltdown, and I don't think I've even seen another scene where my sympathy and disgust were so simultaneous. -
This show is pure class.
-
but when the hell is FX going to put The Shield back on the air??????????
-
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that The Shield was coming back in September. I can't wait to see Shane get his, but knowing The Shield, that fucko will probably end up alright but Ronnie will take the fall. Jesus, September can't come soon enough. As for Damages, I just finished watching the DVDs a few days ago and that shit was aces. I doubt that Danson will be back, but he kicked ass almost as hard as he does on Curb.
-
Rescue Me and Damages in 2009, but RM is running "minisodes" this summer. The producers have hedged on whether Art is actually dead, so there is a possibility for his return at some point. Personally, I don't think they'll go for a straight mystery like they did for the first season, but it should still be good if they stick to form.
-
Yet another show I have to add to my list of "great things I missed out on the first time around." Damn you, William Hurt. Damn you.
