Do You Want To See WANTED In Austin, Texas this Thursday, June 19th?

Published at:  Jun 16, 2008 2:55:52 AM CDT

Hey folks, Harry here - and ya know... on JUNE 27th - there are two... totally different film experiences awaiting you - I saw WALL*E tonight... and on June 19th - I'll be seeing WANTED. I'm on record as hoping and praying that WANTED is the great big surprise of the summer. I'm drunk in love with Timur Bekmambetov's visual style from his Russian films NIGHT WATCH and DAY WATCH. I think we all love James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie and Terence Stamp. Well - we get to see it this Thursday - we'll havea screening here in Austin - and Capone in Chicago will be hosting one at the exact same time in Chicago. He'll have details on that screening up, soon.

Meanwhile - this is one of those rare - Non-Alamo Drafthouse screenings of mine. I think Universal booked the theater before they decided to let AICN have it. - But we'll be seeing it at 7:30pm at the Digital Palace of the GALAXY HIGHLAND 10.

How do you get in?

You send me an email at Hk@aintitcool.com with this exact subject line:

I WANT WANTED NOW MOTHERFUCKER

And when I say exact - I mean exact. Don't add anything, don't change anything to lowercase. If there's any changes - it will go to the wrong mailbox and you'll be out of luck, cuz it will be deleted.

As for the body of the email - you'll need to tell me your full name and the full names of your guest(s) - and also - what your top 3 R-rated Badass Films Of All Time are and why each of those are your faves.

And I'll post the winners by Wednesday.

Actually - from the R-rated footage - I'd say this was harder than the Matrix... cuz here - bullets splatter brains, hard hits knock out teeth - and there is nary a green scrolling text in sight.

Any movie where I see the protagonists flinging guns out sideways like gangstas to make engraved bullets curve for "english" and added accuracy....yea, it would make me vomit. I gotta pass on this one, depsite the casting.

It's called being Stylized, and it's based on a comic. I think it looks cool, and I really hope I get to go to this screening.

that even if you except the idea that you can curve bullets ect, the round would not leave his head unaffected by the impact

    by monsterforge

Oh wait... I thought you were talking about the comic book, not some godawful, teeny-pandering, watered-down Hollywood bastardization of a truly cunning concept. Nevermind. I'll just read the book again.

    by filmfunk

No Green Scrolly admittedly but it's clear without the Wakowski Bullet time there would be NO Bendy Bullets and in that rediculous Fetch of Farfetchednuss I cannot invest my time even if I had a Private Jet and an Invite to Austin!
Ta but I couldn't follow or enjoy the Russian fellows Russian efforts so I think I will save my quids.

I like my movie simple these days...

    by filmfunk

with acting and story and a dash of FX that enhance rather than Clag a movie to death!Less is more or less more, not less.Here. Hare. Here! The director is obviously a Russian Wakowski and the Trailer was Cleraly cashing in on the Matrix bullshit especially ending with the line 'Which path will you choose' or words to that effect plus Morgan Freeman chatting shit about an elite group of assasins who can Bend bullets! Perleeeeeze!I guess if you can get past this and somehow convince your Brainbox That the bendy bullets aren't gimiky FX then you will Lurve this kinda tosh but it's exactly this blatant CG work that pops me right out of a movie and never stops to let me back in!!!

    I'm confused by the title...

    by dominic-vobiscum

I've never read the comic, but it's about super villains, right? In that context the title makes sense to me because they'd be criminals. Criminals without foils, but criminals nonetheless.
But if they're assassins instead of villains in the movie and "we kill one, to save a thousand" and all that...why would they be "Wanted"?

I think you give the visual style too much credit.

    by derlanghaarige

Yeah, it looks cool, but every video clip director with a good budget can do something like this these days.
