GO Team Venture!!!!!
and LAST!!!!!! -
One of the best shows on TV.
-
Totally agree
This is the only show that I watch when it comes on, everything else gets Tivoed -
Since ISPs are going to start charging for monthly bandwidth use any day now.
-
FYI - All they do is eat during the DVD commentary. Very annoying. And it ain't all that great when they do talk.
-
Really fucking great. Loved it. Go Team Venture!
-
So there is Guild infiltration at the highest levels in OSI--and they were responsible for Brock's assignment to Operation Rusty's Blanket
Young Shelia Girlfriend looks a lot like Orpheus' daughter.
Quizboy is a ticking timebomb.
White is even more of a douchebag than we thought.
Quizboy is responsible for Phantom Limb--but doesn't know it...but how much does Phantom Limb remember?
Did you catch the cool Watchmen shoutout on the t-shirt in the first underground quiz show?
Overall a beautiful, satisfying episode. Best keeps getting better. -

Don't look up(There really needs a better solution to spoilers)
by gearfree
Sounds cool that they are filling in the details on how the phantom came to be. I don't see how some didn't like the last weeks episode though, when ya look back its really screwy but it does put a few factors into perspective. Its plausable to say that Killinger was right in calling Doc a bad person.
-
This show keeps getting better and better! Well done!
-
AND live in america Herc. For all us internationals we have to wait :(
-
is in the episode but not all that obvious aparently. none of my friends caught it. His name is sgt haine which is french for hate plus his voice is different which brock points out. Fuckin great episode, usually i hate prequels and back storys but i am very interested in these characters and wouldnt care if the whole season is a series of origin episodes.
-
and its by billy quizboy, plus he does it twice in one episode. Fucking hilarious scene after the credits. WARNING THE FOLLOWING HAS BEEN A SPOILER AND YOU SHOULDNT HAVE FUCKING READ IT. CAPLOCKS DISENGAGE
-
That is totally Sargent Hatred. Awesome.
-
seriously....everyone in hollywood needs to be forced to watch the venture bros before making anything remotely super or scifi...talk about mapping an arc...first one to be strapped down and forced to watch all the epis is kring...that fucking hack
-
there's an equation or something that says V.S. s to the 3rd power= Venture Brothers Season 3. I think I saw the mexican guy brock was playing strip poker with from season one at the dog fight. The one who had the part for the charger.
-
Really is quite amazing how they've fleshed out and expanded upon the plot in a sometimes even insightful way. Hopefully these guys will eventually be moved to write something for a movie theater.
-
The attention to detail and continuity is incredible, and that end sequence with the blooming cacti is perfect.
-
They certainly FILLED the 22 minutes with events and made it seem epic as hell. The little throwback to Mike Sureayeshi, or whatever his name was from the season one episode, was nice.
-
...They want you to go Fuck Yourself! Dear god that episode was great, best of the new season so far. I love when Hunter gets screentime. It's only a matter of time before we meet post-op Hunter, perhaps he will call himself Huntress, yep, went there. Go Team Venture

I usually read AICN by putting the ethernet cable in my mouth

and swishing around a bunch of staples with some Gatorade (it's got just enough electrolyte), but today, I'm using the computer, so thanks for the link Herc. Another awesome episode! Here here, DanielKurland: dense, concise storytelling. And so freakin' funny.
I think I need to look up that big group shot from January and start xing off characters. So that wasn't a mutant-faced Dean - it was just a mutant. -

What kind of a sick mind fuses Nick Fury and Hunter S. Thompson.
by chewtoy
...and somehow makes it work so brilliantly? Scary.
-
With Orpheus when he was still married. With the entire episode presented as like a hokey sitcom set in the Orpheus household.
Also, the best part of this latest episode is that they obviously wouldn't be showing us this stuff if it didn't serve a purpose, so it must be leading somewhere. Having some Phantom Limb/Billy Quizboy teamup or fight would be great. -
Good lord, so unhealthy to have a schoolboy crush on a cartoon...
-
The overall best written show on TV, followed by Dexter, Breaking Bad and Peep Show.
Why VB is the best written show is the shear breadth of the characters and plot. Factor in that the show is written primarily by ONE guy and you have a winner. -
... I thought it was maybe a younger Orpheus and that that his hot student was Triana's mom.
-
not one of the writers for venture bros was covered under the last wga negotiations...i hope that cartoon network compensates them well...they deserve it
-
(bites neck)
-
Pretty much Jackson Publick writes all of the episodes, with Doc Hammer filling in. It took Cartoon Network a LONG fucking time to realize the gem they had. They were too busy shoving Sealab and ATHF down our throats.
Now if they can only do Korgoth... -
Then we would be in real backstory country.
But hey, at least we got a really good confirmation on who Hank and Deans mom likely is. Ended this "Well they must be clones of Doc and Samson cause they mentioned 'prototype'" bs. -
I had to watch the episode online twice because the underground quiz show emcee kept reminding me of someone. Then it hit me - it's Tony Clifton! What, you don't believe me? Then go here and see if it isn't! http://www.tonyclifton.net/
-
Poor guy gets F'd from every direction from everybody and their uncle. It wouldn't be a stretch for him to team with Phantom limb because he was the one who treated him best.
and what goes in to make a Suffering Bastard? -
I think it's like a tiki drink, sort of like a scorpion bowl. Only ever seen them on the menu at Chinese restaurants.
-
I say again, Best Show on TV.
-
Another excellent episode. I wonder when all the backstory we're seeing now was originally conceived. And I wonder if we're going to see more of hot young Sheila with the blonde streak in her hair. Oh yes.
-
No other show in the world would be cool enough to put a Tony Clifton cameo into their story. These guys are fried gold!
-
This was a weird episode. Oh sure...it was funny, but kind of sad as well. I'm amazed at how much they're willing to flesh out the characters backstories instead of going for the cheap and easy jokes. And it looks like they're building a huge season-long story arc. My God this show rocks...now if only someone somewhere would make some damn Venture Bros. merchandise!!!
-
Not really one the best episodes. Two weeks ago we already got a glimpse into the origins of the VB universe and now we're mining that same territory again? Plot is important but at the expense of comedy? Plus things are getting really incestuous now just like the Star Wars prequels. Why tie in Billy's backstory to Phantom Limb at all?
-
I still found it really entertaining. I agree with Raymar that they're focusing too much on the backstory this season but hopefully it will pay off later on. I've got faith in the writers.
-
and the power in my neighborhood went out. About 28 hours later I finally see it and it was worth the wait.Loved... well, just about everything, but being an old fart Jonny Quest fan, I really enjoyed the Race Bannon flashback.
-
The end sequence, with the music, was awesome. It reminded me of the brilliant use of 30 Century Man at the end of Bender's Big Score, using music to go from comedy to outright beauty.
-
We now know -- more than ever -- that all of these characters' lives are intertwined. Hell, we learned tonight whose the mothers of Hank and Dean. Why? THEY ARE BUILDING TOWARDS SOMETHING. Jackson and Doc have decided to go LOST on our asses. If you are down with some JAMES FORD SHEMANIGANS (Shenanigans to the next level), then brace yourself for a season that builds to awesomeness. It also builds to season four where we learn even more about the characters, but behold the next 9 or 10 great episodes of Lockegasms!
-
But I would not mind a full season of prequels/backstories if that's what they are doing this bi-year. Very smart writing on this show. The best thing on right now.
-
I was hoping they would have utter Op :Rusty Blanket at the end there. But maybe that is being worked up?
-
I had nightmares last night about Dr. Killinger and his Magic Murder Bag. Has this happened to anyone else?
-
Kids,
Please be very careful with the backstory. In 1999 the bset movie ever made came out. It is called the Matrix. It told a great story with lots of action and left so many questions about how and why the world got that way. Then Matrix Reloaded came out and ruined the Matrix universe. It turns out that the backstory and details are ungodly boring and unnessesary. The Venture Bros is my favorite show. Please don't ruin it by telling me too much boring mudane crap that I don't care about. Just give me adventure and laughs. Thanks in advance. -
Seem to indicate that it's set in present day. It's funny, because there was an episode in Season 2 where multiple people (including Billy) speculated about what Phantom Limb's origin story was. Thank God for memory wipes, even if they don't work all the time.
-
...will be known as the funniest 30 seconds of TV in 2008. And knowing is half the battle.
-
go fucking kill yourself." Classic. Got to love Col. Gathers. Shore Leave c'mon that's to funny and Race casually making small talk right after he tortured a guy to death. This is the best cartoon period. Maybe the best TV show too. Poor Billy always getting nozzled. I can see him joining the Phantom Limb by the seasons end. The janitor scraping Richard Impossible's name off the door was a nice touch too. I could watch a whole series on OSI alone.
-
Origins stories that intertwine incredulously are a staple of many of the genres that "Venture Bros." parodies. They touched on it directly when it was revealed how many characters were at college together and this season is taking it further. It could be seen as a gamble, but I'd say the odds are in Astrobase's favor.
-
This is from Jackson Publicks blog: I won't spoil it or anything for those of you who'd rather wait until it's on TV Sunday night, but "The Invisible Hand of Fate" was the first episode to be written and produced for season 3, mainly because I originally planned to write it as the penultimate episode of season 2...before the finale got away from us and turned into a two-parter. Given some of the secret histories revealed within, you can well imagine why I would have wanted to shed some light on these particular characters before launching into the finale story. But it was worth the wait, I think.
For the record, I wouldn't have aired this one third in an ideal world, but production deadlines forced our invisible hand. While I'm quite proud of the episode, I worry that throwing another secondary character/flashback-heavy episode at you guys so soon after our Monarch-centric premiere could be a bit confusing--or, worse yet, kind of disappointing--and the episode mightn't get judged fairly on its own merits. But whatever...hopefully you're all into it. And if you're not, there's always next week's episode, "Home Is Where The Hate Is," which is a super-hot Doc & Jackson joint script (and, for no particular reason, probably the most beautifully animated episode of The Venture Bros. ever) and would have aired third if not for the fact that we're still mixing it! -
The GI Joe parody, Race Bannon in a bloody apron after torturing a Sphinx grunt, and Myra verbally making the bionic 'na-na-na-na-na-na' sounds as she broke away from OSI custody. Freaking. Brilliant. The world badly needs an Office of Secret Intelligence spinoff show. Centered on Jacob Squire and his talking super-car along with his partner Stupid Stupid Donnagan. Guest starring the Nozzle.
-
Does anyone have the lyrics to that song? I've listened to it a few times, but I'm still missing pieces. Such a great episode and a great show. "You SONS OF BITCHES!"
-
1 1/2 oz rum
1 oz overproof rum
3/4 oz Orange Curacao liqueur
1/2 oz orgeat syrup
1 oz fresh lime juice
2 oz fresh orange juice
Shake all ingredients well and strain into an ice-filled double old-fashioned glass. Garnish with slices of orange and lime, and serve. -
...the scene where white returns to the Venture compound and talks to Dr. Venture through the intercom is set in the present day, even though it occurs midway through the episode--he says he needs ot see Brock and he is bringing the knocked out Billy to Venture compound presumably for a fresh memory wipe.
So the entire episode has three framing scenes: on at the beginning, one at the mid way, and the end coda. -
Show on TV,....if season 3 shows up on Blue ray,....Im gonna have to get one.
-
from Abu Ghraib pics making a cameo at the end of the OSI song montage?
-
is Cartman's mom?
-
Oh can't count how many times that drink had me waking up next to hairy chested women with great personalities. LOL For you that don't know; Suffering Bastard reciped:
1 1/2 oz Rum
1 oz overproof Rum
3/4 oz Orange Curacao liqueur
1/2 oz orgeat syrup
1 oz fresh Lime juice
2 oz fresh orange juice
Ghetto version has 3 additional shots of rum. -
Ending montage gave me chills.
-
and experiencing it all now for the first time, like a babe in the woods. Pure. Fresh and clean.
God I envy me.
