Is KAREN FILIPELLI The OFFICE Spinoff?? HUMAN GIANT's Aziz Ansari Confirmed For Cast!!
I am – Hercules!!
Wanda Two Saints over at E! is reporting that one of her “always been reliable” sources says Rashida Jones, who plays Dunder Mifflin’s branch manager in Utica, will be a focus of the “Office” spinoff headed our way at midseason. But W2S can’t get another source to confirm yet.
You’ll recall Jones left the “Office” for a bit to star in the horrible Fox sitcom “Unhitched” from big-screen comedy directors Peter & Bobby Farrelly (“Stuck On You,” “Fever Pitch,” “The Heartbreak Kid”).
Read all of E!’s story on the matter here.
UPDATE!! Variety reports Aziz Ansari ("Human Giant") is a confirmed member of spinoff's cast. Read the paper's report here.

I hope so...with Gareth Keenan as Assistant to the Regional Mana

there's a halfrican i would love to bang
-
I thought AICN reported a BBC Office character was making an appearance in Season 2.
I think Michael Scott and David Brent should compete on Trumps' "The Apprentice" with Dwight and Garreth trying to sabotage tasks in favor of their respective bosses. -
don't watch the office... but i'll always remember her in the 'kim kelly is my friend' episode of freaks and geeks. def one of the best f&g eps.
-
Whoops, sorry, wrong talkback
-
Or was that just entirely a dumb rumor?
-
Not only is Rashida beautiful but she's smart and funny and deserves a show much better than what Farrely Brothers gave her. This could be a good show if there's more interaction with original Office characters, especially Jim and Pam.

A midseason “Office” spinoff headed our way at midseason?
by det. john kimble
English you speek gud it.
-
I thought I saw her walking down the street when I was in LA but it probably wasn't her, damnit!
-
Your cast is ready to be plundered once again!
-
Does anyone want to watch an office without Scrute? I do not. Now if the show was about beet farmers and Cousin Mose, count me in!
-
I hope... thatd be coolio. The only thing is he would have to be costantly picked on by everybody, otherwise its useless.
-
I guess you never saw AfterM*A*S*H?
-
Hows your midsection?
-
That's why I'm not excited for an Office spin-off. As good as the show is..spin offs are just kind of lame.
-
incredible spinoff
-
lubbock babes anyone?
-
...At least, until they jumped the shark and moved to Hollywood.
-
before mentioning Angel. Holy shit, he truly is Ronald Moore's bitch now.
-
Do they need to produce an office spin-off in the first place? They seem to be running low on plot right now.

was a good spin-off.
-
"unhitched" atrocity any more. She deserves better!
-
Toby moves to Hollywood to become an "Extra".
-
clearly, another first-rate spin-off!
-
LOL uh, just kiddin around there, Herc, sir....
-
... possibly Filipino?!?
-
The Andy Griffth show
-
How could Herc of all people forget Angel? That was the first show to spring to my mind when the convo of spin-offs came up. Buffy was a good show, Angel was legendary. I still miss Wesley Wyndam-Price. And on a related note, I would dig a Karen-centric Office spinoff. She is hot and funny as hell. Loved her in Office, Freaks and geeks, and most of all Stellas pilot.
-
Oh My God! I agreed with Herc on something. And he actually named a non Whedon spinoff first! Something's happening.
-
glad to see him getting on a real show.
-
Three good spin offs.
Hell even the lone gunmen wasn't half bad. (other than james bond) -
Not sure I get the rationale behind the spin-off, but who knows? I'd watch Rashida Jones sit in her office and collate copies for 23 minutes each week.
-
Hope it doesn't become a Law and Order thing.
-
Gomer Pyle, Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction (don't remember which came first), A Different World, Batman Beyond, Justice League Unlimited, Superman Adventures, Barnaby Jones, Law & Order+, Count Duckula (BITCHES), Goof Troop, Darkwing Duck, Torchwood, and on and on....
-
I liked Rashida on the Office but honestly wasn't her character a little too smart to be a regular? DS9 is the BEST spinoff EVER.
-
The danger is that they'll stretch themselves too thin doing both shows at once. The super-sized episodes have already shown that the writers can run out of steam when asked to do too much.
-
is funniest show on TV right now until September's premiere of Its Always Sunny...
-
I haven't watched the new season yet, but I bought the first on DVD as soon as it was released, and I'm usually a bootlegging mofo.
-
Because Michael is the boss of "our" office, the humor centers around the fact that he is incompetent and tries to be funny but isn't, creating lots of awkward pauses because nobody knows how to respond to something so awful.
Since Rashida's character (1) is very competent at her job, and (2) has a good sense of humor, the format of the show will have to be completely different. I'm not saying that the only way an Office spinoff could be funny is if the boss acts like a doofus all the time. But without the awkward pauses, how will it really be "The Office"? -

Much as I'd like to see this work...I'm just not seeing this wor
by 2for2true
Let's face it - as great as most of us like the Office, it usually runs second behind Grey's Anatomy. I'm just not seeing the masses getting behind a spin-off of a show that isn't a huge hit in the first place. I predict NBC will snackcake this puppy after six weeks.
-
I like both Rashida and Aziz.
-
Much better than these other sitcoms on TV- and they had hot chicks and booze...What more can I ask for?
-
i'd smoke her tampon.
-
If they can get Rob Huebel on this show and Craig Bierko that would be awesome. No need for Paul Scheer, he can be like a cameo character a bunch like Todd Packer. Maybe Todd Packer will be the new boss. I hope they make this show to exsit in the same universe as The Office so there is some overlap. Maybe try some different styles, but pretty much just the office 2.0.
-
Rob Corddry be on this show. He is a blister on the taint of comedy. He's done one good thing (Bobby Dukes) and now he's just on repeat. It would be great if they could get an amazing cast for this. Get some lesser know stand ups say (Nick Griffin-He's on Letterman tonight watch him). Rather then just all improv people..... god I still can't see Rob Corddry not being on this show. Like I just know its going to happen.
-
She gets sick of being an unrecognized paper company peon, and moves out to Venice, CA where she encounters wacky roommates and co-workers who can't deal with her East Coast uptightness. Hilarity ensues. Dammit, I should write for TV.
-
So if the writing is as good as The Office I'll watch it.
-
a season ending cliffhanger where Karen Fillipelli meets Pam at a no-tell motel near Scranton to discuss her feeling for Jim, and they end up chowing down on each other. Mmmm.
-
or will it have a laugh track?
and who will be her "dwight" will it be a funny chick? so many questuions. -
and it's BadMrWonka with a late victory in the "NITPICKER OF THE CENTURY" award!!!thank you, thank you all...and it really is spelled with two p's...
-
When she saw that episode she started calling her family...we are easily amused..sigh
