Tim Roth looks like a perfect villian.
-
Or third.
-
Hey, I take what I can get.
-
I think it's more an attitude than his physique, tho.
-
sounds a little like Clay Aiken.
-
nukes the fridge.
-
Are you literally in the wheelchair because of your weight?
-
Went to UT in Austin and to this day I regret ever graduating. I wish I could have Van Wildered it and stayed five more years.
-
The drafthouse looks like a blast. Going to have to make it there one day.
-
Any reports from the screening or is everyone sworn to wait until 12:01 AM?
-
Wow. Maybe I've been naive but that was the first time AICN seemed to really be on the studios' payroll to me. Also no offense Harry but I think a short hair- and beardcut would do you wonders.
-
with big green monsters...<p> I'm seeing this ASAP.
-
...what with the same day coming several hours sooner for AUS than for the US, so I'm not really referring so much to this instance, but is anyone else sick of other countries getting first crack at US-made movies/TV shows?
-
and he talks like a queer. What the hell's up with that.
-
...came out today in the UK It fucking rocked. I was absolutely stunned. Its snappy and slick, ticking all the right boxes and then unleashes holy hell in the last 20 mins. The fanboys are going to love it. 4/5
-
SMASH IT BACK TO NORMAL PROPORTIONS!!!
-
or a hoverround
-
I need to make a return trip to Austin.
-
''Awesome, Big, Bad Ass Green Monsters Fightin!'' <P>really wasn't keen on <P>''Awesome, Big, Bad Ass Robots Fightin!''<P>Please be good!
-
nice of Marvel to do a screening their for the crowd. If only they could do the same for the GFT i Glasgow Scotland!!
-
whilst Iron Man was the surprise hit of the year I can see this being the word of mouth film and the film all the little kids like cos they think Hulk is cool, they think Hulk is cool already so a really well presented Hulk will be even better. He's like King Kong but more awesome.

Hulks pants stretching at the waste is never not gonna be dumb
by brett burton
No matter how smart you make a Hulk movie, his jeans not ripping off when his waste gets 3 times larger is never not going to be stupid. I know it's been said before, but that's always going to ruin the Hulk for me. Sooooo dumb.
-
I myself have just been slit open and given a temporary loop ileostomy it's not fun.
-
Thats the first time I've seen him too.
-
This movie looks about as bad as 300 was. Hope The Happening smashes it.
-
Never seen so many goatee beards and glasses in one place!
-
Never been in your mums bedroom?
-
was sponsored by Marvel for this little green gathering, is it safe to assume that any mod is forbidden from writing a bad review. sorry, but this stinks. How can you trust any positive review from here again?
-
Is internet famous now.
-
ALright M. Night....you've been found out!
-
admit it, austin is just one big green screen
-
comeon...how much did marvel pay you people?
-
you're going to be eating some green crow. I've been to a lot of AICN special screenings, with a lot of "guests" from the movie. THey don't always have the best reactions... this one though, everyone enjoyed it. I was going in thinking the same things you guys are thinking now, the trailer doesn't make it look very good. IT is, it's VERY good. Okay, now to go cash this check that marvel gave to everyone in the audience.
-
to get a job at BioWare in Austin, so I can hang with all the cool people :(
-
They give you a check but you cant cash it in until two weeks (after the film has opened) and how the conditions work (that you have to sign) is that if ANY negative reviews come out from the screening all of the chocks become invalid. We actually had to sign under those agreements. But for $150 and a free movie I don't give a fuck. Plus it was actually a good film.
-
no. but i at least thought they were free of industry taint (heh...taint)
-
Garth said a lot of the things that i've been fearing about this film. Specifically that the character moments seem to have been cut out in favor of this leaner cut. i don't know when people are going to realize action sequences are NOTHING without the characters to back it up. If the film plays like it's been chopped up and i lacks glue between the scenes then I know I won't like it.
-
jeez, I'm sure you all are fuckin' supermodels, right? <br> <br> Like you have to be in tip top shape anyway to review movies for a living.
-
nice to know. at least your honest. I mean I love this site, but c'mon, can't Harry and CO just put "advertisment" on something like this. I would have more respect for them if they did. there's nuthin wrong with makin' green backs (heh...green backs) Like that friggin' book promo X-Men 4: TB'ers United destroyed.
-
Agreed. I had a relative in his condition and I wish him all the best. it's friggin hard, but at least Harry's making a crack at getting better.
-
BTW Newsarama is reporting that Cap was actually in the move but was cu out. Not a poster or anything, but Captain America. I think Bruce finds him in the artic judging by the interview, thus elimiating a need for Namor
-
I'm pretty excited for this movie. I saw the two minute clip last night on Sci Fi Channel, and it was interesting (it was the scene where they inject Banner)
-
I have a feeling that this is going to be Daredevil all over again. The friggin studios butted in and ruined the movie (Affleck aside). And when Hulk comes out on DVD we'll all be like "hey where was THIS movie" sad but true. Chk out the D-cut t of Daredevil
-
Why is it that people feel OK about making fun of overweight people? Have any of you ever had anything that made you feel shame? Like acne, birthmarks, thinning hair, etc? If you haven't then you should be KILLED , of course. Fucking make fun of Harry for his praise of shitty movies like AOTC and Godzilla, not his weight. Christ.
-
I keep forgoting that site exists. That site seriously needs to update their templates to something past the Clinton administration.
-
I'm not fond of his hair and beard either, guys. I've known too many people who didn't realize how awful they looked. And, yeah, he's terribly fat. He was bedridden for a long fucking time better than a decade ago and put on a vast amount of weight. That happens sometimes - people don't adjust the rest of their lives to being almost immobile. Hauling all that weight over the years has screwed up his legs and back to the point where walking became tough. Then he developed type II diabetes. That scared him into realizing he had to lose weight and eat better, so he started on a serious diet plan and got a laparoscopic stomach band to help him more. Good luck, Harry, from another (but much less) fat boy!
-
(Best line from X-Men 1). Funny thing about AICN - this movie's been trashed by just about everybody when it was announced they were doing a re-imagining (or whatever) of the Hulk. Now, everybody seems to dig it. Is the movie THAT good, or was the trashing THAT bad? Stay tuned.
-
I wanted to see the more drama edition to this movie. Action scenes are cool, but what made the Ang Lee movie kinda work was that the storyline had some good weight to it.
-
You know, I wouldn't be surprised if every reviewer on the internet starts off by giving their thoughts on Ang Lee's Hulk. Well I'm going to do the same because I want to be cool <p> I liked Ang Lee's Hulk. It was an interesting take on a comic book movie and when the Hulk was unleashed, his rage was spectacular. But I understand why people didn't like it. HULK was more of a character study than a superhero action movie. Now having said that, I still feel that the Desert Base to San Francisco sequence is one of the best comic book action scenes in the history of cinema. But fans wanted more Hulk, less Bruce and no crazy Nick Nolte. <p> So. Is this later effort better? I'm not sure I'd say that...it's certainly different, geared more towards the action crowd. But the problem with THE INCREDIBLE HULK is that it doesn't have enough of what HULK had too much of - story. <p> Marvel cut 70 minutes of story out of the film and it shows. The film really suffers for it. Characters aren't fleshed out enough, especially Bruce. His struggle to come to terms with the monster inside him is pushed to the side in favour of getting to the next action sequence a little more quickly. And frankly there is no need for it. It will be interesting to see the dvd, with those scenes hopefully restored. The character of Betty Ross probably suffers the most. Her role is more of a cameo than a full supporting role and it's a shame. <p> But as it stands, it's not a terrible film. What's there is good, if a little abrupt due to the cuts that were made. While I miss Eric Bana as Banner, Norton does a fine job taking on the role and you can see the influence of the TV series in his performance, which is a good thing (and yes, THAT music is heard...though it's all to short). Tim Roth's transformation from soldier to unstable super soldier to Abomination is well handled and once again proves that the guy should be getting more big roles. <p> William Hurts "General Ross" is a little different than the superb Sam Elliot, but it is still a good performance. You can see that his hunt of the Hulk isn't just about doing his job, it's personal. But you want to know about the action... <p> Well, it's ok. I was a little disappointed to be honest. The cgi was mediocre at times, making it look like a video game in some areas. The Hulk himself actually reminds me of Goro from the Mortal Kombat movie. More attention is paid to making him looked "ripped" than big. <p> There wasn't a moment in the film where I felt that the Hulk was incredibly powerful...put it this way...Superman could kick this Hulk's ass...easily. The Hulk was strong, but never felt or looked powerful. The big fight between Hulk and Abomination was underwhelming and cheesy at times. <p> The best thing about the movie isn't the action or the story or the Hulk himself...it's the geek stuff. The stuff that ties the Marvel movie universe together. SHIELD, Stark Industries, Captain America....it's all being set up throughout these Marvel movies, leading towards Avengers, and while it's totally cool...it's a shame that the best things about the film are about what's yet to come and not about the central focus of this film. <p> There are hints towards Hulk sequels (so says The Leader) in there as well and hopefully Marvel will see sense and not interfere the way they did with this film. <p> Overall, it's an ok movie...but it needed more. It needed more action...or bigger, more powerful action, it needed more focus on the characters and story (which I suspect we will see in the Directors Cut) and it needed to focus a little more on the Hulk himself. <p> I wouldn't call it incredible...more...The Above Average Hulk. <p> I think it's possible to do a great Hulk movie...somewhere in between this movie and Ang Lee's film. <p> Before I leave this review I want to talk a little about Captain America...the way Tim Roth moves when he first takes the super soldier serum, is very promising. I would expect Cap to be more fluid and graceful...but if that movie builds on the way they handled it here, I think we're in for some cool Captain America action. <p> As for The Incredible Hulk, it's an ok film...if the sequel can combine the summer movie feel of this one with the sheer power of the Hulk in Ang Lee's film, then I think we may finally see the great Hulk movie that we all want. <p> This film is good popcorn entertainment, if a little lacking in substance, and any Hulk fans will be geeking out at certain moments (Thunder clap and Hulk Smash) and Marvel fans will geek out over the hints of what's to come. It's certainly not as good as Iron Man, but it is above average and will entertain you. <p> Final Sco<re: 6/10
-
That should be: <p> Final Score: 6/10
-
I wasn't here, that's for sure. Angelina Jolie got fat? I had no idea. I wouldn't care. Rather see her fat than rail-thin as she was when quite young. Anyone who says, blanket, "fat chicks aren't sexy" hasn't met the right one.
-
Please dont write anymore reviews. I would rather go through surgery to repair my rectal prolapse, than read through that horse-shit again. You are beyond dull, comandante.
-
The problem with Harry Knowles is that he is usually so hyperbolic about any movie he reviews on this site, that now when I see a clip of him saying "I liked it, I really liked it..." it means the film is shit and he fucking hates it.
-
Best. Name. Ever. <p> Would you have preferred a more Harry-esque review where I spend the first half talking about how I used to drool over my millions of comic books and end up telling a story that has nothing to do with the film then spend the second half having cybersex with the movie as I lather it up with love and sexual release? <p> Because I can't do that. If you disagree with the review, that's fine. But I'm not Harry, I can't love every movie I see in a disturbingly sexual way. I can only be honest about how I feel about the film, and I felt that the film was above average, but lacking in many areas. The cuts really hurt the movie, the cgi was subpar the action was laboured and uninspiring. That's how I felt. <p> Disagree if you want, everyone has their own opinion.
-
the Aliens commentary track, in which she and Cameron tried to tactfully detail what must have been constant, vicious arguments at the time. Fun commentary track, full of oblique hatred from two high-maintenance personalities.
-
But I can't believe after viewing that video that Harry can bench press over 150 pounds like he claimed in a talk back. Unless he's doing 1 rep on a Smith Machine with someone spotting him, I just don't see it. <p>I'm glad he's taking the right strides to get into better shape. But at the same time, there is no need to impress anyone with exaggerations about your fitness level. Especially people on this site.</P>
-
Roth was there.
-
'nuff said!
-
dude are you exposing cleavage under that camo shirt? Or just wearing a flesh colored t-shirt underneath? Cause just a fair warning, when obese folk start to disregard societal norms when clothing themselves, that's when they start heading into Brando territory...
-
Harry will lose massive amounts of weight after the surgery, shave his head, aquire a floating wheelchair and adopt the name "Professor X". Unfortunately he'll still love EVERY movie, no matter how bad.
-
More than usual, even.
-
I take my films so seriously I demand to see the entire credits sequence of every film with as little distraction as possible. It's not just a matter of seeing who worked on the film, but perhaps more importantly, it's a musical outro of what you've just seen so you can quietly ponder your thoughts and reactions and deaccelerate from the filmic world back into reality. I would've guessed the film lovers of this site follow that reasoning, along with remaining glued to the screen so that every single shot is observed throughout the proceedings, but maybe I was wrong. Perhaps it was only because there was to be a Q & A afterwards, but I wouldn't think that'd make a difference. I guess I'm too academic about it sometimes!

-
According to Quint, Gone was Harry's idea in the first place.
-
Ok, why so much fuzz about Harry being Fat, he looks cute the way he is and i like him. If you guys doesnt know the way he looks like and have been in this site for more than i do sucks baddly. About sounding a bit sly? what's so wrong with being gay? Not that he is, but if he is cool ^__^ so quit the ranting and talk about the actual film.
-
Look, I have no idea whether the movie's any good or not, but if you throw Hulk hands on somebody, fill 'em with green martini, toss 'em into a bouncy-house, shove 'em in the world famous Alamo Draft House, parade the cast and crew of the movie in front of 'em, then post their review, I'm going to be looking at the whole picture when I read that review.<p>Isn't that why Harry always sets up his reviews with the context with which he viewed the movie?

My god, Harry's even fatter than the corner animation of him O_O
by Seth Brundle
lol but who cares, harry rocks, awesome event man!
-
How the mighty have fallen.
-
I'm actually a big fan of Eric banner. I'm an Australian and you may be suprised to know that he was a major comedian here for ages while I was growing up. Then he did chopper. See it, it is one of the best films ever. Fantastic direction and Fantastic acting. I also like ang lee. But the Ang Hulk sucked. Sucked. I look forward to this one. It looks good.
-
good luck harry. Fuck these other turds.
-
which sucks, because I was hoping the dude from ROME would get a good role in this. Movie looks shitty though.
-
I would have gotten away with , too if hadn't been for you HULK fans.
-
it seems nobody really believes the reviews on AICN anymore, there are so many of them written by people who are 'connected' to the filmmaker.
-
My wife and I won tix from AICN to see the Chicago screening (THANKS CAPONE!) and it kicked ass. It is a true comic book movie. Harry is dead on... Marvel is doing it right. And the geekness. The whole walk home I was explaining all the references, "cameos" and homages to my wife. I can't wait for The Avengers movie!!!!!
-
last night? Looked good.
-
He just had surgery, he's doing something about, so give the brotha a chance...
-
And do the writers on AICN try to hide those connections or biases? No, they're 100% up front with them. So where has any kind of trust been broken?
-
Yes let's talk about it some more. YOU SEE, the fatness is gonna take a long time and some serious work. The ridiculous hair can be solved in minutes. Do it, Red.
-
I love that you have these events, are a part of them, and bring us the outcome and highlights. Looks fun as all hell. Especially for comic-based summer action. Do you think you will have one of these for Cameron's Avatar? <p>!
-

sorry for posting that twice.
-
any idea how much weight you've lost since the procedure was done?
-
It takes time to loose weight and Harry does look skinier [see the hot fuzz dvd] so give him a rest and his hair is fine [pure fanboy heaven] what would you like better? Tom cruise? i wouldnt take my news seriously from a trendy tom cruise look alike.
-
handsome, no matter how disgustingly fat he is. Seriously. The cartoonish fatness of Harry is to be admired. Well done, sir. Well done.
-
Two out of five guys are gay or have tendensies...so there are a lot of gay guys here...hehe...sorry
-
Some deal with it by being Homophobic...bruce banner becomes Hulk to avoid gay talk...hehe

I wanna be hulk.

...and what it's like, it's pretty good. I've only been there a few times (don't go out to theaters much), but my first experience was seeing Batman Begins there, which definitely made it worthwhile. Yes they do serve beer, and pizza, and burgers, and chicken strips...basically anything major restaurants have, so you won't run out of choices. It is more expensive though, so bring some extra cash. The video projection is iffy because the theater isn't as dark as normal; the waiters of course need at least some light to walk through the aisles. But the sound is great, very loud and much more so than other theaters. When Batman Begins first started with the swarming of the bats, damn that was loud. (It's funny to always have to hear people/waiters scream the order over the sound). One thing though that you'll notice is that people talk during the movie at the Drafthouse. For some reason it's accepted there, although it's not like it's constant chattering, but it's definitely noticeable. They also show quirky montages before the movie begins, for example before Batman Begins there was a weird 1950's B movie about bats, the kind of cheap stuff that you'll see Mystery Science theater 3000 poking fun at. Anyhoo just FYI.
-
he got married, which means hes gettin more pussy than all you losers......hahahahahahahahahaha..
-
Did I ever say I wasn't married, dick tickler?
-
He's definitely losing weight - the skin on his face is looking pretty loose. You should probably step up the weight-training Harry, or slow down the weight loss, otherwise you're gonna have to have surgery again to get rid of all the excess skin. He also looks and talks a little like a fat wranger version of Philip Seymour Hoffman.
-
He needs a guitar solo.
-
If you guys hated Harry and his site so much you all wouldnt be here talking about it. Harry's looks are part of his trademark and i think he looks fine, handsome and the way it should be. The way you guys are behaving reminds me of high school and that isnt good... the posibilities are that Harry is a few hundred times more handsome that most of you backlot dungeon scum.
-
I am Gay, not queer or sly but gay. but that doesnt change the fact that Harry needs someone to defend him in his own damn page...he is being atacked for who he is and that sucks. if THIS SITE IS SOLD...too bad but still i dont think saying nasty stuff about his looks is something mature. anyhow Harry is a celebrity known by his looks and that includes being, fat, hairy and with glasses. So lets live with that and keep talking about Hulk...he looks just like the hulk from marvel vs capcom.
-
I noticed the hair from the trailers look too kept together...imagine a hulk with wild long hair...that would look funny
-
"Incredible."<P>That's what I want to know.
-
Cause i mean if he gets that big and rips his clothes and all his hair should grow too...unless the transformation has a lack of melanine [or what ever is called that thing that makes hair grow] after effect
-
the link is dead...
-
...like Iron Man?
-
means ain't it cool. not ain't it first. or even ain't it everything that has popped on the radar.<p>people whining that AICN hasn't grabbed every little bit out there are missing the point. go to a headline fanboy news site for that. just sayin'
-
Does that make him less of a person?
-
But I left the screening just now confused. I didnt expect to get my ass kicked so fucking hard by this movie but I did. It was so much fun. Seriously wasnt on my Summer movie radar, but now after seeing it, I am really just shocked. Norton was awesome. The action was thrilling. It was what any self respecting Marvel fan has been expecting for years with these film adaptations. What a fun action film that delivers the fucking goods. I left happy. I'm gonna now pay to see this bitch again tomorrow.
-
shut up gruzeon you a-hole. making fun of the athetlically challenged
-
Tim Roth is indeed a great villian though. he foresaw obama winning the election at the end of planet of the apes.
-
no its not. i myself am obese and i have never had sex before nor do i let other obese people touch me. they disgust me. theres no way it can be disease that can be caught
-
i dont eat mcdonalds. it is too low class for my tastes. eat my supple naked body right for your sakes you bitch
-
fat. Am I right, ladies and germs? Huh? Huh?
-
...That lap band surgery is working wonders...
-
Right now i am 290, how i did it? one meal a deal, lots of pickles and lots of water... now lets cut the fat talk...posibilities are most of us are fat for criying outlaud this is getting old. If Harry had his surgery means that he cares and so should we support him...not keep calling him fat or whatever.
-
LOL angus the FAT COW
-
my uncle is fat and he tells me to lose weight and how he can titty fuck me but the hairs on my man boobs would bother him
-
"Hulk bite big one!!!!!"
-
.as opposed to the extreme low IQ verbal assault method which characterizes talkbacks..it would not hurt Harry to think about changing his style..whilst im sure you like to excuse it as some kind of trademark
-
that is not diplomatic. but i do feel slightly turned on
-
yea, your MOMS!
-
the land of the free. we dont eat cats, we give them to lonely horny women.
-
Fact. <P>Fucking idiots on here.
-
The Author of that piece of shit says he pulled it, not Harry.
-
after 25 I have been told. Lose the weight early in life or forget about tight skin or it's surgery again for tummy tuck.
-
Punk rockers do not have guitar solos. Half the time, they don't have the technical proficiency to do a 'solo.'
-
Seriously, do we honestly need that warning? Is smoking so demonized that movies showing people lighting up need a label? What the fuck is going on?
-
"Dennis MM - Do you know what weight issues are? by Pondscum Jun 12th, 2008 03:31:26 PM They apply to people who put on weight AND people who lose too much weight. Now leave me alone you chubby chasing freak." Yes, I do know weight issues go both ways. When I was 20 I was a male anorexic. Now I'm way too heavy. I was speaking to Jolie's weight issues as seen by the trashy TBers, not you. I assumed Jolie had gotten fat because lots of the TBers don't seem to care if an actress is 5'6" and weighs 90 pounds. "Tomboy beanpoles" are very popular around here. But show some hips or a little stomach and a woman is a hideous fatass to lots of these guys.'nuff said.
-
That *was* Massa :)
-
Just don't watch it when you're tired. ;)
-
I'll say it to someone who has no idea, and they'll thank me for it.
-
I'm not saying obesity is or isn't a lifestyle choice. I'm just asking why people have to be fucking cruel to the guy. Do you actually think that helps? The mean fucks on this board will make great parents, I'm sure. Oh, I guess that makes me a whiny douchebag, right? There will come a time in everyone's life when they'll look for compassion. I really hope that when you assholes go looking for it you find it. Maybe that'll learn ya.
-
You know someone is seriously fucked up when they get all strident about their meanness. Like the guy who called me a douche for raising the question of why people think it's OK to make fun of overweight people. It's like I offended his sense of decency or something by even ask the question. Make that his "sense of indecency." Guys like that keep Limbaugh and Ann Coulter in business. These people get so offended and full of rage when you ask the simple question of why they make fun of others. Is that really something that you're willing to fight for? WOW.
-
In a TB recently, someone kept throwing out what seemed to be superfluous references to a director's ethnic background, comparing his work with popular styles from the country where he was born but lived only for months. I said the gratuitous referencses to the man's ethnic heritage might suggest some dislike of his background. The guy's answer was to call ME a racist. That seems to be a recently popular technique - turn the racism card around because only a racist would be sufficiently aware of race to mention it, no? PS - how do we insert paragraph breaks again?
-
Thanks for replying with something sensible. I'd help ya with the paragraph breaks if I knew how to do it!
-
The producer at the start of the vid says this is the first audience to see it? BS! I saw it two days earlier with a huge crowd in Hollywood. Plus Aintitcool KNOWS the headline's a lie because a buddy of mine emailed in a review THAT NIGHT. . . So I guess this is just some vintage bloated sellout action going on here.
